I wasn't going to start a journal for this grow since I'm already into flower, but I have not seen many for Northern Soul.
There will not be much for veg in the journal but I will take you all they way through flower and harvest
I finally put together my flower tent and hung the lights so within a few days I'll have moved her to flower.
I used the last month to experiment with cloning and it was harder than expected. I used rockwool, Coco pellets, and a diy bubble cloner to see what works best for me. Unfortunately I had a terrible success rate i think due to excess nitrogen and me taking too small of cuttings.
I also started to let my ph rang from 5.8 to 6.2 over each week. she has been responding very well and the has been a slight increase in nutrient intake
I struggled with nute lockout a few weeks prior due to being a bit impatient and adding nutes to the res before the little thing was even hungry.
I flushed the res and only used ph'd tap water until she recovered. Once the lower leaves yellowed, I started her on Blue Planers 3 part synthetic nutrients.
I also topped her at this time but I could not find a photo of her freshly topped
Not much action this week. At this time I didn't have a flower area set up and I wasn't sure about the future of this grow. I ended up deciding to use her as a mother so I could practice cloning until I was ready to flower. She was kept in veg and clones were taken weekly or as growth allowed.

She has finally been moved to flower! Unfortunately the tent around her is a mess and is partially being used to store totes, but she has plenty of room and a beautiful QB fixture above set to 215w draw from the wall
I have moved her into a 5 gallon dwc bucket and she is still on the veg feed cycle until the stretch is undeway.
The stretch is here, she's getting pretty tall and I will train her a bit even out the canopy. Pistols are showing so I've started her on 1/2 strength flower nutes
Some lst was used to even out the canopy. I didn't spend much time with her this week so not much to update. Buds are forming and the smell is increasing enough to be smell up the house if I'm not careful
I've just been topping off the res everyday. She's drinking 1/2 gallon or so a day now. It's really dry here this time of year and I'm struggling to get the rh up above 35% Temps are stable tho
The smell is getting very pungent, kinda sweet and skinky. I was away for work so I don't have any photos for this week.
My ppm has been rising everyday so I did flush and clean the res then refill with fresh nutes. I usually do this every 3 weeks, this time was a bit ahead of schedule
This week has been going pretty smooth. She has been drinking more, even up to a gallon per day. It's been a bit warmer and wet around here so my humidity has been stable in the low 40s
I realized my night time Temps have been dropping a bit too low for my liking. I have been letting my exhaust fan with a carbon filter run 24/7 to control odor. Now the exhaust fan turns off 20 minutes after lights out, then a small carbon scrubber kicks in to control odor without drawing in cold air
All the buds are getting extremely sticky and beautifully fragrant. I keep catching myself smelling my fingers after working with her
2nd half of the week: I believe some of the larger fan leaves are showing calcium deficiency so I upped the calmag. The leaves also looked a bit dark and a few have started to "claw" so I've reduced N
This has been a stressful week. My air pump died early this week, it's been replaced but damage was done. She's recovered some but is now having ph swings. I'm still trying to dial in the ec but things are stabilizing. I also gave up on bpn's mixing ratios and went back to a modified 123 formula I usually use with gh flora nutes.
The buds also put on some weight this week. The canopy opened up due to the branches betting weighed down. I added supports for a few choice branches
Nutes are per 3 gallons
I have finally go the ph swings under control but not before causing multiple deficiencies. The biggest leaves were yellowing/browning and drying out but progression has stopped for now. I have also had issues with the leaves curling up/canoeing this week. Humidity has been in the 20s and the lower the humidity, the worse the curling.
I'm not super confident she'll hang on as long as I want (70+) so I'll start flushing in a few days.
This girl was extremely thick and bushy. I used a new nute line on this grow and I'm sure I caused a lot of the issues by being cavalier with the new line. I harvested in day 65f, at least 2 weeks early due to diffencies and stress.
I harvested on day 65f, at least 2 weeks early. I was fighting deficiencies and nanners and didn't want to risk any other ladies in the flower tent. I got about 7 ounces off of one plant. The early harvest resulted in a very heady/spacy high that doesn't last too long and a less than satisfying terp profile. The flower smokes smooth and the rosin hits fast, so I'm still 😁
