Germination
2y ago
Chicoo The seed was placed in a glass of water, and as soon as germination began, it was planted in a small "grow tent" with Bio Bizz All Mix. Within 3 days, the seed had germinated and seen daylight. Unfortunately, the seed shell did not detach properly - presumably, the seed was not planted deep enough in the soil. The shell was carefully removed with tweezers.

Chicoo During the germination phase, I watered every 3 days with 35ml. After 4 days, it was time for the first repotting - from 0.1L to 0.5L pot volume. So, I watered 170ml every 3 days. At this point, my DIY grow box arrived - now it's really time to get started.

Chicoo Topped at 4. Node after 12 days. Repotted after 10 days into a 5L pot - from then on watered about 0.5L every 3 days. In good weather, the Power Flower was outside, as nothing beats natural sunlight.

Chicoo This week I started with LST because I wanted to set up a ScrOG in the tent, matching the LED lamp with lens. I used these red Clipper scissors for that. Thanks to the good weather, she quickly recovered from the topping + LST and, in my opinion, developed well. This week I left out the Root Juice (no repotting). During the day, the Power Flower was outside and around 5 PM it was back in the grow box for some more "sun hours.

Chicoo The plant is growing and growing - therefore it needs more water: 1L was watered every 3 days. Another topping on day 23 and continuing with LST. The weather got worse and I decided that the plant is ready for the grow box. The light cycle was set to night - light from 8 PM to 2 PM and dark from 2 PM to 8 PM, with a small dehumidifier running due to the lack of heat from the lamp.

Chicoo Last repotting from 5L to 14L, and there was one last dose of Root Juice. From here on, about 1.5 liters of water every 3 days. Of course, I kept up with LST and adjusted the parameters of the box. So far, everything is going well, and having the light phase at night helps a lot to keep the temperature and humidity well controlled and in check. I attached a string with a 32cm distance to the lamp so you can see exactly when to raise the lamp.

Chicoo I gave 2 liters of water every 3 days. Last topping was at the beginning of August. Due to all the topping, the plant has grown relatively wide and not too tall yet. Height plays an important role since this strain is 88% Sativa and can stretch well once it goes into flowering. Starting next week, I’ll be on vacation, so unfortunately fewer pictures.

Chicoo Conditions in the tent are well set, and the plant was well taken care of during my vacation. Before the vacation, it was repotted and topped specifically so it could recover well during this time.

Chicoo Back from vacation, I started installing the net and weaving the shoots so that there is at least 1 shoot in each square. I began removing more and more leaves, etc. from below the net day by day, so that the full strength is on the upper part of the plant and the air can circulate well.

Chicoo This week, I watered every 3 days between 3.5L-4L. Everything was prepared for the start of flowering - 3 days before the initiation, I defoliated more vigorously and positioned the branches properly.

Chicoo The lamp was set to 12-12 at the end of August. Additionally, the fertilizer was adjusted: Bio Grow instead of Bio Fish, to trigger the flowering phase extra + started with Bio Bloom. The Nutrient Schedule from Bio Bizz was followed quite strictly. Defoliation was consistent, so that not too much stress occurs at once. Start of flowering at 30cm height.

Chicoo There was about 4 liters of water every 3 days. I started adding CalMag because some leaves showed signs of deficiency. Since the start of flowering, it's grown about 14cm (50% stretch).

Chicoo Meanwhile, the good lady is 50cm tall and is watered every 3 days with 4L-4.5L. She has been defoliated again, and so far she has handled it very well and has recovered quickly.

Chicoo The water addition has been further increased - now it's 5 liters every 3 days. So far, with this amount, only a minimal drain is noticeable.. I might need to adjust the rhythm, as I can't give 6L of water in a 14L pot. I'm considering watering about 4 liters every 2 days. Defoliation was done again, as the plant has reacted very well to it so far.

Chicoo I'm still watering every 3 days with 5 liters, and so far, it's working quite well. Further defoliation hasn't been a problem, and the buds are developing strongly - the smell is insane. Since the beginning of flowering (30cm), there has been a total of 100% stretch, and the plant is now 60cm tall. I'm considering removing the shorter shoots that are just above the SCROG net to focus fully on the upper buds. Would you remove them?

Chicoo This week there was a big shock - spider mites in the back part of the tent. On some leaves, it's very pronounced in my opinion... Immediate measures were taken: - Removed the plant from the tent & took down the SCROG net - Inspected the entire plant & removed affected areas (the back left was the most "infested") - Only the lower part of the shoots was affected, so more lollipopping was done to remove all infested leaves - Showering was too risky for me regarding humidity and the danger of mold, so the lady was only lightly sprayed and cleaned with a damp cloth. - Predatory mites (Novo Nem Ambly. calif.) were ordered, they should arrive today (10.10.) - I hope they take care of the remaining problem in the last 2-3 weeks. - The dehumidifier was taken out of the tent to keep humidity between 55%-60% so that the spider mites don't feel too comfortable... Most of the time, this dehumidifier was in the back left, exactly where the most infestation is showing... I consciously wanted to avoid spraying anything chemical, as it could potentially settle in the buds, the risk of ruining the harvest was too high for me. Hopefully, the predatory mites will solve the problem and the majority of the harvest is safe. I'm glad I discovered the pests relatively early, although it should have been even earlier... I think the combination of heating on + dehumidifier looked good at first glance, as I had 40-45% humidity in the tent, but I believe that exactly attracted the spider mites. Should I install a SCROG net again to better support the plant, or should I rather "hold" the buds with strings from above or just leave it as is since everything looks stable? What do you think? Did I handle this correctly or do you have any other tips on how I can get this problem under control? The rest of the plant, or the upper part, is slowly but surely looking very tasty 😎.
