Welcome to my Tropicanna Poison grow diary! This photoperiod strain from Sweet Seeds boasts a fast flowering cycle of 6-7 weeks and belongs to their famous "red family." I'm excited to see its vibrant colors and quick development.
Setup and plans:
Tropicanna Poison will start its journey alongside Cinderella Jack, which is currently on a 20/4 light schedule. For the first week, TP will adapt to this light schedule, and by the second week, I’ll switch to 18/6. Once Cinderella Jack is harvested, I’ll change to 12/12, which will be perfectly timed for Tropicanna Poison’s flowering phase.
Equipment:
Growbox: 80x80
Lighting: Spider Farmer SF1000 (100W)
Pot: 11 liters
Nutrients: Full BioBizz lineup
Soil: Light-Mix by BioBizz
Germination process:
24.11: Seed soaked in water for 12 hours until it sank.
25.11: Moved into coco pellets to germinate.
27.11: The seedling emerged, shedding its shell.
28.11: First official day of Tropicanna Poison's life.
Current status:
The seedling has sprouted and is growing steadily in the growbox. With Cinderella Jack finishing soon, Tropicanna Poison will soon have its own space for flowering. Stay tuned for updates!
So far, this is the strongest plant I’ve ever grown in my tent. The seed shell was shed on its own, but it seems one of the first leaves was slightly damaged during the process. However, this hasn’t affected the plant’s overall development.
The plant is growing without any delays and looks healthy and vigorous.
Watering:
01.12 — 150 ml
04.12 — 200 ml
The plant is growing strong and healthy, holding up well despite the relatively low humidity in the growbox (35-50%). It seems to have adapted nicely to the environment and is showing good energy and vigor.
This week, I introduced root stimulator to the feeding schedule. Since this is my first time growing photoperiod cannabis, I decided to follow the recommended dosage of 4 ml/L right from the start. The plant responded well, and I’m happy with its progress so far.
Additionally, I switched the light schedule to 18/6, giving the plant some well-deserved rest while maintaining steady growth. I’m closely monitoring its development and making small adjustments to ensure it stays on track for a great grow. I’m excited to see how it evolves over the coming weeks!
Watering:
Day 9: 200 ml
Day 12: 250 ml
Day 14: 200 ml
Stay tuned—things are just getting started!
This week brought some challenges—I discovered thrips on the leaves of my plant. Thankfully, the infestation isn’t too severe yet, and I acted quickly to address the issue:
1. Sprayed the plant with plain water to knock off any pests.
2. Removed the top layer of soil.
3. Applied BioBizz Leaf Coat as a protective measure.
I really hope this will help. After reading up on these nasty pests, I learned that they can completely devastate the leaves if left unchecked.
Unfortunately, I have only myself to blame for their appearance. Due to the cold weather, I’ve been using a heater in the room with my growbox, which has caused the humidity to drop significantly. It sometimes dips as low as 30%, and it rarely goes above 50%. Most of the time, the humidity hovers around 35-40%, which is an ideal breeding ground for thrips.
To answer the obvious question—yes, I do have a humidifier. However, my growbox has a very powerful exhaust fan (315 m³/h for an 80x80 space), so the air is refreshed too quickly for the humidifier to make a lasting difference.
Aside from fighting thrips, I also made some adjustments to my grow this week. On Day 20, I did a little LST. Honestly, I wasn’t planning on using any training techniques in this grow, but I decided to give it a try anyway. One thing I can say for sure—I want to skip LST in my next grow. It’s quite inconvenient to water the plant when the leaves are practically touching the soil.
Additionally, I defoliated the first two sets of leaves. I felt this was necessary to improve airflow around the plant and reduce the risk of pests spreading further.
Watering:
Day 17: 400 ml
Day 20: 500 ml
I’m keeping a close eye on the plant and hope to overcome these challenges successfully.
Another week has flown by!
The thrips problem hasn’t been fully resolved yet, but I only see 1-2 of them occasionally on the plant. They’ve stopped munching on the leaves, which makes me believe that Leaf Coat is doing its job.
Overall, the plant is thriving and looking great. I continue doing light LST and occasionally defoliate leaves that block young branches from getting enough light.
My SF1000 lamp is running at full 100 watts, but it’s positioned 45 cm above the canopy. The plant isn’t centered under the lamp because Cinderella Jack is still in the box. In just a week, CJ will be ready to harvest and dry, freeing up more space for this grow.
This week, I watered the plant twice, each time with 750 ml on Day 24 and Day 28.
That’s all the updates for now. Thank you for following my grow diaries, and I wish everyone successful grows in the new year!
This week went smoothly and without any surprises. The plant is growing stronger and showing steady progress. It’s almost ready for the switch to a 12/12 light cycle, which is planned for Week 7.
Throughout the week, I performed three waterings of 750 ml each, using nutrients designed for the vegetative stage to support active growth. I’ve also been regularly defoliating the plant, removing excess leaves to improve airflow and light penetration to the lower parts.
The plant looks healthy and vigorous, and I’m looking forward to the start of the flowering phase.
Another week has passed, and everything is moving along smoothly. The plant continues to show strong, stable growth with no signs of deficiencies or stress. It’s thriving and looking healthy, which is always a great sign.
The light LST I’ve been applying is helping to shape the plant nicely, and I’ve kept up with occasional defoliation to ensure the lower branches are getting plenty of light. The structure is developing beautifully, and the plant seems perfectly happy with the current setup.
There’s not much else to report this week, but no news is good news, right? Sometimes, consistency is the best thing you can ask for during a grow.
Looking forward to seeing how things progress next week. Thanks for following along, and happy growing!
This week went by without any issues or surprises. The plant is thriving and continues to grow strong.
Two waterings were done on Days 44 and 47, and on Day 48, the light cycle was switched to 12/12, officially starting the flowering phase.
The plant looks robust, with healthy, vibrant green leaves. The transition to the flowering light cycle should be smooth, as it is well-prepared for this stage. I’m excited to see the first signs of flowering, which should appear in the coming days.
The second week after switching to 12/12 has passed, and the plant is doing great. On Day 55, it showed its first pistils — which can only mean one thing: it’s a girl, and flowering has officially begun!
The plant is entering this new stage with confidence, and I’m keeping a close eye on its progress. Soon, I’ll adjust the feeding schedule to support active bud development. Everything is going according to plan, and I’m excited to see how she evolves in the coming weeks!
