RQS Titan F1 Auto + Biotabs "Just Add Water" strategy
I'm back! I'm sorry for taking such a long break. It wasn't planned! We had to buy weed off the street, just like old times! What a shame.
We have moved and I finally have room for a new tent, this time for 3 plants! Plus matching lights. Unfortunately the exhaust is still missing, but nothing smells at the moment. So I'm waiting for the next pay cheque for that.
I have Royal Queen Seeds to thank for sponsoring the seeds. I've been looking forward to trying this strain for a long time.
This is my first grow using only Bio Tabs fertiliser. I've been wanting to try their range for a long time because I'm convinced it's best to use as little liquid fertiliser as possible - most of it is water and that means more weight, more transport costs and more packaging. The Just Add Water plan is also very attractive to me as I am very busy at the end of the year. So thank you for your generous sponsorship!
I'm following the Just Add Water strategy as described here:

I really liked the fact that Mycotrex is a granulate and doesn't create as much dust as other organic stimulants.
As a substrate I tried the T.A. light mix - you can see a little video of it in my pictures above. I wanted an organic light mix without the peat - I know peat is great to work with, but it's also really bad for the environment, so I'd encourage everyone to try peatless mixes!
Everything is now moving into the next phase, and if the plan works, there will be no work for me after next week - apart from watering. I'm so excited!
Everything seems to be developing well. She is already in her final pot, a 11l Air Pot.
I'm not doing anything at the moment except for a little watering every day, and I have increased the light intensity a bit. The lights are new, so I'm still figuring out how to use them.
I'm very excited to see how this will work out. At the moment it still looks a bit pale, I think the nutrients from the tabs are perhaps still too far away from its roots to arrive. But that should be sorted out in the coming week.
As the Just-Add-Water method suggests, this time I have not only added water, but also 1g of ‘Bactrex’ (every 2 weeks). Apart from that, the method lives up to its name and there is only water for the plants until harvest.
I still need a matching Lego figure for this grow; not so easy to find something to ‘Titan’. I like them because they give a feel for the actuall size of the plant. Anyone who has ever taken photos of their plants (and especially the buds) knows how misleading pictures can be.
I am so happy with this grow. Everything is just fabulous. The plant is growing beautifully. I buckled down and started a little LST after all. There's not much room for it due to the small pot, and I'm just bending the lower branches a bit to the side so it doesn't all grow upwards. A growmie here has given me lots of lovely air pots - next time I'll go one size bigger. Thanks again, Mia!
I removed two big fan leaves in the upper area that were hogging all the light for themselves.
This week, as always, tap water and a little Bactrex.
In the meantime, I've finally installed a decent humidity and temperature meter. Partly because I had no exhaust air, partly because it hurts a bit more when three plants go moldy than when just one does. It's fun to monitor that. At the moment it fluctuates quite a bit because I occasionally have the box open for longer, but that will normalize. My exhaust air set is the one from the old grow box and is a bit too small and, above all, too loud. But it's good enough for now.
She started flowering about 5 days ago and already built up quite some bulk. Also, she nearly doubled in hight. I have trouble trying LST with her, because the branches are very strong and I'm afraid to break them. So I just cleared up some space by removing big leaves and added tab water this week.
Colours are perfect again. The bio tabs seem to do their work. Still wish I had a bigger pot; even though it's an Auto, I think it would have been benefecial for her.
Had to cut a few leaves, nothing more. Tab water this week. The plant looks healthy and has enough nutrients from the tabs. This weekend I'm using blumat watering, since we are away for some days.
The plant continued to mature. The buds have more leaves than the Milky Way F1, but not too many. First of all, this meant that I didn't have to do as much defoliation, but secondly, I'm not necessarily keen on spending several hours trimming.
According to the strain description, Titan has a flowering time of 42 to 45 days and should be ready to harvest 70 to 75 days after germination. That would be on 26 February at the latest. However, looking at the buds, I doubt I'll have to wait that long.
The trichomes are about halfway cloudy, the others clear. No other news, see you next week!
I keep looking at the trichomes with my magnifying glass, but so far there is no amber colour to be seen. So it will take a while yet. She drinks about one litre of water a day; that's all there is to report. I'm still impressed that I don't have to further fertilize or adjust anything and that it's thriving so well.
Not much has happened in the last week. I've been looking at the trichomes every day full of hope, but still no amber in sight. To make something happen, I tried the booster "Bio PK 5-8" from Biotabs, which is intended for the last few weeks of the flowering phase. Let's see what happens now.
The scent is still light, which suits me well at the moment.
