Flowering began in earnest around 7/27. On this plant I experimented with topping (prior to flowering), while others I experimented with FIMing and doing nothing. Ultimately, I found FIMing made these plants a little too bushy (perhaps the combination of the re-veg plus FIMing) and necessitated defoliation (pulling off leaves in the middle of the plant) to allow proper air flow and prevent mold issues. Additionally, the plants I experimented with FIMing created a lot of small popcorn buds instead of nice big buds. This plant and the other plant I topped had the best yields (around 5 oz. dry weight each).
For this plant I also wanted to experiment with expanding its container. I went to Home Depot and bought a 10 gal tub for outdoor recirculating ponds and drilled several holes in the bottom, then filled it up with native soil from the forest behind (as the other three plants I put in the ground in the forest required no pest management). I then placed the fabric pot on top of the plastic tub and cut the bottom off the fabric pot and pulled it out of the way to allow the roots access to the soil.
I saw no real change for this effort. Having a plastic container below a fabric container is a bad idea, the soil in the plastic container was always wetter than the soil in the fabric pot.
