DAY 1 - 17:00 : Seed in water
Day 2 - 13/00 : Seed cracked open
Day 3 : Container preparation
+ 5 gallons fabric container with handles
+ Promix premium organic vegetable and herbs mix
+ 1.8kg of worm casting
+ Ollia (from Back to the roots / Amazon) for irrigation
No transplant method:
1. Mix promix and 1.8kg of worm casting
2. Fill container and set ollia in place
3. Make a hole the size of a small container
4. Fill it with pro mix only (for seedling)
Fill the ollia with water
Day 4: The seed germinated and sprouted!!!! I was worried because it didn't grow at all yesterday but here it is!
Day 5: Seed is now 1.5 cm and ready to move in its Home Container!
- WELCOME LITTLE ONE! -
Light : 10h ON/ 14h OFF
RH : 70%
Lights : Increase progressively to 18h ON / 6h OFF (from 5AM to 11PM)
Olllia is effcient. I refilled about 1/2 every 4 days but the soil was wet when I planted Sprout
Water : The refill of the ollia increased : 1/2 L every 2/3 days
RH stays constant now so no need for humidifier
TRimes leaves to aerate and let light in
I tried to use the scrog I made as a Low stress technique but.... Sprout is very compact and the branches would not really bend under the net. Instead they pull on it.
The plant is also suffering :
- gets paler
- brown spots on the top leaves and other symptoms I do not really understand.
Dec 16th : Sprout has been vegetating and doesn't grow anymore
EDIT: maybe it needed a boost ...
Start Flowering Stage:
+Increase renewal of air
+12h ON / 12h OFF from 4 AM to 4 PM
Sprout who started with huge fat fan leaves now looks like a bonzai : Very short fat and dense branches , but very small leaves
JAN 19th : Sprout is flowering
I abandoned the scrog method and used wool to pin the branches to the fabric of the container
We changed the timer plug to a google controlled plug that now controls the fan and the light.
It's cold in the basement and I figured the fan wasn't really helping at night
So at night, only the extractor is working
Jan 20th : I was advised that maybe I sould lower the humidity in the tent and add fertiliser.
So I will not refill the oliia until it's empty and I'll add the fertilizer to the water next.
Jan 24th I stopped the humidifier. I'll monitor over the weekend how things turn out
Jan 25:
I think the basement where Sprout lives is getting too cold so today we made some adjustments:
1. I isolated the bottom of the tent with 1' Styrofoam planks we had in the garage.
2. I installed a heating mat between the tent bottom and the water retainer. It's dialed on 40C right now.
3. I dialed down the extractor from medium to low/medium. (1/4)
4. Change the light height from 10' to 16'
5. Fertilizer (3.5 ml/ 700ml ollia)
So lots of changes today!
We'll see in the next days if things have improved for sprout.
Sunday Jan 26:
Night temp: 14⁰C
Night RH : 70/80%
Day temp 22 ⁰C
Day RH : 50%+/-5
Adjusting humidifier to 40%
Moved temp and RH sensor directly on the soil.
I read that clay might filter part of the fertilizer components so I complemented with 2.5ml of MediOne in 0.5L of water directly in soil.
I looked at the trichomes with a jewellery magnifier... That's awesome!!! They're still transparent.
Thursday January 30
Fertized + trim leaves
Sprout looks healthier
I think the heating mat and fertilizer helped
It smells stronger and I looked at the trichomes but they're still transparent to me.
So I think I'll harvest it end of next week or so...
I think I stressed the poor plant too much. Next grow I won't defoliate so much and let it do it's thing. I'll use LST if I can. I'll let the plant guide me!
I'll also supplement with Medi one way earlier in the process.
Feb 4: Harvest of Sprout.
It's quite smelly and still very compact.
Harvest was straightforward since the branches are so small.
No trim since it's going to need all the moisture it can to dry properly.
(It's very very dry in winter here)
I installed the drying box in the the growing tent in an attempt to mitigate the humidity issue.
I'll oversee it closely in the next few days.
It's too cold today outside to have a closer look to the root ball. I'm curious to have a look and see how it reacted to the oyas.
I'll update when the weather is warmer and I can uproot without too much mess!
Feb 17:
Trimming and preciously put in jar a very small harvest (19.2g).
The drying box worked great and kept the weed from drying too fast. No mold.
The weed is not very fragrant.
I didn't trim too much since I'm aiming for tinctures anyway.
