Looks good so far. Growing like crazy. It’s getting a little close to the light...about 12”. I can’t move it any farther up.

Grow Questions

Bigwermstarted grow question 6 years ago
Starting week 8 and the bud size isn’t what I expected it to be. There is a lot of buds but they are mostly popcorn size. I’m thinking this might be the result of not doing LST and letting it do it’s thing. She is still feeding and growing vertically closer the the light but showing no signs of heat stress. I added a second light for the lower bud sights. Any suggestions would be great.

Hey Bigwerm! the reason the buds are staying smaller and the plant keeps growing up towards the light is it's not getting enough light. So they won't get really big because they just are not able to create enough energy so form bigger buds due to not being able to photosynthesize as much as it could. So really the only solution it to add either more light or trade out those leds for a higher actual wattage led or you could go with fluro but I would recommend a HID setup or r a good quality led.

Hi! I remember my first grow back in the days using a 150w LE "grow" Bulb for my 90*90 tent 😂. Always check the "true Wattage output" on the LED's for example my Mars hydro 700 puts out (300~380W true Wattage) so even though its called "700" model its not actually 700w. The PAR range on led's is really good (400nm to 700nm), compared to LE or HPS or HID's. So yeah your light have good PAR but not enough lumen to reach all the way to the bottom buds that's why you would want a bigger LED for your plant right now. When it comes to Nuts less is more, good soil will get you far, more of nitrogen for Veg and more of phosphorus and potassium for flower. GL with the harvest! 😃

Hard to see with the purple lighting, I get the same burnt tips with my autos to find their max intake of nutrients but at 200ppms it may be a deficiency on your end or that when you water your not getting enough runoff from your pots so salts build up at the root zone. Plants look good 👍

HoffGuyy + TheIceCreamParlour answers, thanks for the responds. i was kind of thinking the same about the lights but was in denial i guess lol. Is 8 weeks in a 10 week auto grow too late at this point to chang out lightss?

@Bigwerm, even though the strain you are growing states seed to harvest in 10 weeks, you might actually need 12-15 weeks for your plant to fully mature. It’s a matter of personal preference really, as to how you like your finished product (bud). So, it’s never to late to change out your lights or add additional lighting- in fact your plant would most likely benefit significantly from it. Keeping in mind the size of your plant already, I would put off adding HID type lighting until this grow was completed. The heat from those types of lights would most likely fry the top of your plant. But you could easily/safely add fluorescent or led lights at any point throughout your grow and watch your buds fatten! All the best!

Thanks, I haven’t checked my ppms lately. I’ll be sure to do that on the next feeding. I think I will go with watering for one or two cycles first....and better pics🤦‍♂️ 😆
