Seedlings are growing away. These next few days will be quiet with posts, but at about the 1 week mark (from transplant) I will update with pictures. I am currently using plain water, but I gave a little bit of a weak 0.5ml/l nutes. They are in plain coco so there is nothing for the seeds, I leave them the first few days but then I just like to give a light nute before continuing with plain water for a while. Then at the roughly 1 week mark I will make another light batch and continuie until I am only using the nutrient mix. I water every water with nutrient mix, I keep the EC relatively low but because you are replacing it every day you don't have to worry about the nutrient mix losing EC. If you are using a reservoir then you might want to make it slightly stronger to account for a loss in EC over time. This is only from what I've heard, because I haven't got enough experiences with nutrient reservoirs yet. Peace! GR8Cannabis

SO since the last post the seeds were post into toilet paper and left to develop taproots. Of the HGK, 7/7 cracked open and all have since grown taproots and been transplanted into coco peat in small net pots (I start all my plants in these net pots for airpruning). Of the BD only 5/7 cracked and formed taproots. As of now 3 of these are transplanted into net pots while 2 are staying another night in the tissue to grow a bit longer. Overall we had 14 seeds and 12 germinated, so I'm happy. You are bound to get a few duds, especially considering the BD seeds were quite old .

24 hours in and most of the HGK seeds have popped. They were in plain water, at about 27 degrees Celsius, and were in light all the time. If anyone thought seeds couldn't germinate in light, you've been believing another cannabis grow myth. There are plenty and we're going to break it down each step of the way. First myth: seeds can't germinate in the light. Result: nonsense. The HGK seeds that cracked open have been put into paper towels where they will stay moist and warm for a few days until the taproots are long enough to be transplanted. I've left the BD seeds in water for another 12 hours, but at 36 hours I will take them out regardless.

Hi there, GR8. I was going to follow this grow because I will be doing Holy Grail Kush soon, but I see that you mentioned that this is actually a cross. So shouldn't these actually be labeled as "Custom Breeder & Strain" instead? Otherwise we can't make an accurate comparison if we want to compare notes, and the strain review at the "Harvest" node would not be accurate either. I'm not going to be upset if you don't, but just figured that should be considered.

@MovingOn, thanks for the tip man. Sorry for the confusion - it's my first post. I will update that ASAP so as not to confuse other people. I do, however, have 2 HGK plants growing that are not crossed. These are actual HGKs directly from DNA. I will make another grow diary for these plants and then link it in a reply to you so you can see what's what :) Peace man

“If anyone thought seeds couldn't germinate in light, you've been believing another cannabis grow myth. There are plenty and we're going to break it down each step of the way.” I LOVE this! Cannabis growing lore is so often garbage. Thanks for common sense. I have wondered how the ‘dark to germinate’ theory came to be, when brilliant sunshine is the norm in the tropics. Sure, there’s canopy and fallen leaves to shield seedlings from heat, but there’s plenty of dappled light making it to the forest floor. Tip I learned from University of Australia school of agriculture-Coconut water from a fresh coconut makes a great birthing solution for baby cannabis plants. This step alone delivers 20-25% more flowers/fruit than non coconut water soaked seeds. That sounds too good to be true, but I do it now. What heck why not? Following. Enjoy the process. Enjoy your harvest!
