Still observing moderate-advanced nitrogen (?) deficiency on the PK, and less noticably on the WW, Possibly phosphorous deficiency as well on the PK. Ongoing from late veg/early flower. Finally observing significant trichome production on both strains.

Older/lower leaves yellowing and wilting. Assuming N deficiency? Present from late veg/early flower but not accelerating or slowing down. Also observing small black/brown spots near veins on the same yellow leaves. Assuming P deficiency? Present recently, treated with Mammoth P.

I wouldn't think it would be a P def as those usually splotchy and not really spotty. It might be more along the lines of a light K def mixed with an N def as they both cause yellowing and K causes brown spotting like that. I would check your soil PH. Water till runoff when you do a normal feeding. Catch the runoff and test its ph and compare it to the ph of the water going in. If its the same as what went in you are golden and probably just need to up your nutes or feed more often. If it is significantly higher or lower than what went in(say +/- 0.5) You may have a ph issue in the soil(built up salts is the usual cause) and need to flush it. When I flush I do so until the ph in my runoff is within +/- 0.1 of my input. Once flushed you should feed with a full dose of nutrients because you will have likely pulled out any synthetic nutes that were in the soil.

White Widow clones are looking pretty alright for nearing the end of week 5 of bloom. However, I'm not too impressed with the Purple Kush. There isn't a whole lot of trichome production, no strong fragrance, no massive bud growth. Maybe it's a slow bloomer and it'll really show its character in the next few weeks. I believe it's mostly genetic in spite of conditions not quite being ideal- they were vegged longer than expected due to space restrictions, and the soil is no longer in great condition. But a little N deficiency, in flower, shouldn't be impacting trich production as far as I know.

Finally some purple on our Purple Kush! This update is actually a day early but I couldn't hold out. Heard from another grower that this strain tends to have a long bloom period so I'm holding out for a lot more purple as we approach harvest. The PK is still unimpressive overall, not packing much weight or trichome density, but perhaps it'll really come through toward the end. Contrary to the previous update, and as I learn more, I'm less inclined to believe the genetics are poor; I think their soil is depleted of particular cultures required for bioavailability of nutes, or there is nutrient lockout of some sort. Which is my fault, for vegging them for an excessive time, and not recognizing and addressing the soil issue promptly. I think I'm going to try switch to an organic compost soil sometime soon. As for the WW, they are looking frosty and are on schedule for their week ~9 harvest, but given that this is a new mother, I'll keep a close eye going forward to be sure they don't need longer.

Started the week with a flush for both strains, followed up by a half strength feed. The WW is probably going back to just water/flushing, but the PK will continue at half strength feed at least another week; it needs a lot longer to ripen. The PK still doesn't impress me too much, hoping the mother plant does a lot better when it goes into the flowering tent. However, the WW are looking great, continuing to bulk and produce trichomes all over. Anticipating WW harvest closer to week 10 now after checking trichomes with the digital microscope (no pics thanks to Windows 8 on our laptop, sorry).

Continuing to flush, these girls are about done. The WW are certainly within 2 weeks and the PK may be that close as well. This widow is some of the best looking bud I've grown, I'm impressed with this pheno in particular.
