Germination
2d ago
NateLay This time, I tried germinating the seed directly in the Jiffy. I let the Jiffy soak, then placed the seed inside. Unfortunately, after 6 days, there was still no sign of life. It looked like I had kept the Jiffy way too wet. On the second attempt, I let the Jiffy soak, then gently squeezed out the excess water and loosened it up. I placed the seed about 0.5 cm deep. After around 5 days, the cotyledons appeared. Two days later, the taproot started to grow out of the Jiffy, and the first "real" leaves showed up.

NateLay Once the taproot had grown out of the Jiffy, I decided to transplant it into the 11-liter fabric pot. After that, I watered with 500 ml. Three days later, another 500 ml followed. From this point on, I’m counting the first day of the vegetative phase.

NateLay On day 8 of the vegetative stage, I watered with 750 ml of tap water. Once the plant is ready to handle a liter or more, I’ll start adjusting the calcium and magnesium levels using Bittersalz and Biobizz CalMag. I’ll also lower the pH to around 6.5, since our tap water is usually between 7.5 and 7.9. I still have the light set to 40% at a distance of 40 cm, which should equal around 360–400 PPFD. I plan to increase it to 60% (~550–600 PPFD) once the Jack Herer—currently about 10 days behind—has caught up a bit.
