F1, RQS gets a second chance

HerrTom Another week has gone by. The little one is doing pretty well so far. The green could be a bit stronger, but that's okay for now. The pre-fertilized cannabis soil and the Zamnesia Monster Bud Mix should be enough for the first few weeks. The soil in the fabric pot (my first attempt) seems to be drying out quite quickly.

HerrTom Not much has happened yet. The little plant is growing quite nicely and forming pretty leaves. However, I think the green could be a bit stronger. But it could also simply be due to the strain. We’ll see. There is one significant change, though: I have massively downgraded the LED to a 30-watt model from eBay. I don’t have the manufacturer on hand right now. Why? The 90 watts of my other lamp always seemed a bit too much to me, and I want to run the lamp 24/7 now. That would get too expensive for me with 90 watts. Today or tomorrow, I will top the little plant. Let’s see if the autoflower can handle it and what it brings in the end. Update 30.05.2025: Topping done Update 02.06.2025: The topping seems to have worked. You can already see the two new shoots. Plus, the plant is noticeably pushing now, getting bigger and stronger. Even the slightly dull green has improved. Wonderful! I won’t rule out switching back to my stronger Bloom Plus (90 watts) during the grow, but right now, the little 30-watt no-name light is doing really great.

HerrTom The grow is still going well. The little 30-watt lamp is doing its job. Let's see how it goes when it goes into flowering. If it turns out to be very sparse, I'll swap the lamp back and know for the next grow.😉 Otherwise, the pictures speak for themselves... I've also half-prepared the SCROG net that I want to install after this week. I hope the plant can manage a few more centimeters by then. Additionally, I filled in some soil because everything around the root ball has sunk a bit. Now it looks a bit nicer again.😊 Update 06/08/2025: The topping apparently didn't work out. I obviously should have waited until the upper internode had developed. It seems to me that the plant is slowly but surely growing back "single-headed" where I cut it. What do you think? Update 06/11/2025: My suspicion has been confirmed. Topped too early, so the "Hydra effect" didn't kick in. So rather counterproductive, because I wanted to SCROG this grow and the plant should have reached a certain height and have multiple main stems, at least two. Now the main stem is just slowly catching up, is being shaded by the two side stems below the topping, and not much is happening upwards. Learned something again: When topping, the stem above the last node should be clearly developed. I'll just wait a few more days for the next run.

HerrTom Another week gone by, the plant is doing pretty well. The leaf tension seems a bit low, so the leaves look a bit limp. Other than that, everything is good. The color is still vibrant. Whether my plan to SCROG will work out remains to be seen. I'm a bit skeptical because the lady doesn't really want to grow taller. It could also be due to the weak light... but I want to leave the light in for now. Let's see if the grow can make it to the end with this little lamp. I've also applied LST again and made the plant a bit wider with my trusty metal hooks, so especially the growing main shoot gets some light again. Update 06/15/2025: Yesterday, the Titan took a nice sunbath and went a bit overboard. She actually got a sunburn and one leaf tip has turned brown. I don't think this will cause any problems, but it's interesting how quickly that can happen. Also, I haven't watered since Thursday or Wednesday, and the issue with the low leaf tension has already resolved itself. Tomorrow I'm going on vacation for 5 days. So I'll water properly in the morning and assume that will be enough until I'm back. I just defoliated a bit and removed the large fan leaves. Maybe a few more buds will come from the bottom if more light penetrates through the plant.

HerrTom This time the update will come on Saturday. I was on vacation and was worried that the plant might get a bit dry with the high outside temperatures and 5 days without care. But I was wrong, everything is in perfect order... at least considering the circumstances! I think it's safe to say that the new lamp with its 25 to 30 watts is not suitable for productive cannabis cultivation. The plant remains very small and isn't making any significant progress otherwise. The buds are coming slowly, but more for decoration than for yielding later :-) Well, little effort, little yield. What else can you expect? The low-stress training and defoliation have been handled by the Titan without any issues, and it now stands a bit airier and wider. I'm just going to let the grow continue like this and see what happens. I will harvest as early as possible to start a decent grow with my 90-watt lamp afterwards. I had planned to do this anyway to test whether the timing of the harvest really has such a significant impact on the type of effect. We'll see! Update 22.06.2025: I'm back at it: I put the pot on the bottom of the box now because the setup with the bucket was annoying me. If I find some time tomorrow, I'll switch the lamp and see if the plant gets a little boost or at least if the buds develop a bit better. Update 22.06.2025: I just managed to swap the lamp. From now on, 90 watts are shining in the box again. Let's see if anything happens... Update 23.06.2025: Accident!!! I broke a branch while training. I got some wire today because I wanted to try this type of training, using self-bent wire. It wasn't worth it :-( I treated the Titan and hope the branch will grow back. This has happened to me in another grow before, and there were no problems.

HerrTom The little Titan is dragging through the flowering stage. It's not really fun... So, I don't have more time today. In two weeks, we'll harvest, and then we'll start another proper round, and that should be it for this year.

HerrTom It's hot and the grow isn't fun: pale and spotted leaves, small and few flowers. No idea if it's just too warm or what else it could be. At least the Titan seems to have survived the branch break. The repaired branch looks normal so far. I haven't removed the "bandage" to avoid causing any more damage. According to the strain description, the plant should be ready for harvest on July 28. Let's see if I leave it standing that long.

HerrTom A truly pathetic grow. Apparently, the Titan also has thrips that I can't get rid of. However, I'm not particularly motivated because the expected result is not very promising. Otherwise, I'll just wait. I'm sticking to the strain information as much as possible and will harvest on 07/28/2025. I just removed a few larger leaves again. However, that won't save the lower mini buds either. Maybe I should just remove them completely.

HerrTom Not much is happening in the box. I will harvest on Monday. The trichomes are still quite light, but I want to harvest early this time.

HerrTom As a base fertilizer in the soil, probably not bad. However, since the grow was overall poor, I'm a bit cautious with overly enthusiastic reviews.
