Ok, so I have finally got my hands on some photoperiod seeds, big shout out to Royal Queen Seeds for helping me out with some seeds and nutes.
Green Gelato is coming along nicely, the Royal Gorilla didn't germinate straight away so popped another like a fool and now I have 2. Will repot one. Original one looked a bit rough tho so we will see how it goes.
Setup:
Tent: 60cmx60cmx120cm 2ftx2ftx4ft
Light: 250W HPS
Soil: Biobizz Allmix
Nutes: Royal Queen Seeds easy combo and easy boost.
Extraction: 140cfm manrose fan 4 inch
Intake: 60cfm black orchid fan 4 inch
2 clip on fans for circulation
Fire alarm for safety!
Solid growth from both this week. The original Royal Gorilla didn't make it unfortunately, but the current one looks good. 5 day behind. Gonna top the gelato this week, and maybe add some veg nutes. Start is always slow so hopefully more to say in the coming weeks!
Very strong week from both girls. Topped the Gelato and she's responded very well, maybe a little tying down and should be good to flip in a week or two. Already starting to smell somewhat haha.
The Gorilla seems to be a much smaller plant despite the fact it's a little younger. Not gonna top it, just gonna do a little lst as it wouldn't have as much time to recover. So far no problems so hope it continues!!
His week was mostly veg, last 3 days have been 12-12. Gelato is looking very nice and smelling strong and the gorilla is not far behind. Topped both once.
The RQS nutes seem to be doing well too, better than Biobizz anyway haha. Already stretched a fair bit gonna tie down soon.
The stretch is real!!! Can't continue to grow up, they're doing an inch or more a day!
Attempted to supercrop them, nothing snapped off so hopefully they'll survive this. Note for next time...flip when they are smaller. Still looking healthy nine the less.
Best looking plants I ever had, nice one RQS, thanks for the seeds and nutes!!
So, even more stretching this past week. Some of the main tops have hit to close to the light and burned a bit.
Still trying to make the stem tender and bend them down but it's not looking perfect.
I really did not expect the stretch to be so furious. Next time I will keep muuuch lower before flipping and keep less in the space. Still should get something from this though, right?
I hope they've stopped stretching now, my lord.
Pistils are shooting out of both of them, except for the tops that were closer to the light; they've stagnated.
I've cut off the worst of the damaged parts and taken out the filter to allow more headroom. Leaves are still amazingly green, full dues to RQS for their nutes. Simple but seems to be very effective!!
Fighting a battle with these guys to try and keep the tops from burning. They're growing nicely still and haven't shown any real need for anything extra. Just happy as they are.
Might start adding some GHE nutes as I'm out of the RQS Combo.
A bit worried that it may be turning Hermie on me in places. Any body see any male signs in the pictures?
Still looking very healthy overall. Some spots where they're burning, but some nice budsites on both plants.
Added some GHE nutes this week and doesn't seem to be burning them so I'll keep it up.
Doesnt look like it'll make the 8 week advertised flowering period but hopefully 10 or 11 will do it.
As you can see in the pics there is a while lot of wasted space under the canopy which I really need. For my next grow I will keep the canopy top muuuuch lower with LsT.
Getting quite rough with the hear now :(
A few of the tops closer to the light are shriveled up from the heat. I'm really eager to just plant the next ones and start training, but want to get something off these at least, they smell wonderful.
Is it a good idea to remove the tops closest to the light? Or would that just put the others in direct light to burn also? Lol.
Might put a couple seedlings outside as wether is nice at the moment. Can't get to big and visible before I bring them in though haha.
Ok completely my bad with this. Haven't been feeling great the past couple weeks and have really neglected these babies, among other things.
But, I had a go in there yesterday and hopefully things shouldn't keep getting so bad. The buds are fattening up on both a lot, and considering what they've been through I think they look pretty damn good. A lot of burned tops, any suggestions what o should do with them? Seems a bit harsh to smoke.
I've managed to wiggle them down a bit lower, hopefully he burning shouldn't get worse, but we'll see. Smells fantastic anyway.
Definitely want to run these again a. It further from the light 👍👍👍
Not giving them Any nutrients now until chop which should be in a few days. Seeing lots of amber on the Royal Gorilla, not so much on the Green Gelato, but still present in small amounts.
2 days until 10 weeks total flowering.
Letting the plants fall and rest on the side of the tent isnt ideal, but its the only way i could have saved them from the heat.
Check out my stardawg diary for what heat can really do to a plant....gonna upload another week soon and there is HUGE damage to the plant that didnt auto.
These smell lovely anyway, cant wait to try them!
I took a top off each as a tester on day 70, which is the long end of Royal Queen Seeds estimate.
Still drying, but I will update when done.
Does the foxtailing and bud development look 100% heat related, or could it be too much nitrogen in there too?
I'm really impressed by these strains, they've stayed very healthy the whole time and despite the heat issues, smell better than the autos I've grown, possible exception of Barney's NYC Diesel, that was very nice indeed.
I have popped a couple more of each so will be starting a new diary soon when these finish.
Got a QB this week and oh my word the temp drop is lovely. In time might grab a couple of strips to compliment as the new LM301H diode is out.
Seeing loads of amber in places, im going to chop during the week. I have 2 more 2 week old seedlings ready for the tent that I germed outside, but this is England and they haven't grown all that much yet.
Smell from these two is fantastic anyway, I will update soon
This whole grow was plagued with heat issues from my Hps lamp.
The plant resisted it though, and finished better than I could have hoped. Lots of foxtails but there is bud there. I am also pretty sure that there was too much nitrogen during the flowering period leading to more green plant mass than I would have liked, rather than just fat calyxs.
I have soaked my trim in 99% isopropyl and am currently waiting for it to evaporate for my iso hash/oil. Will post pics when done, and more pics of finished buds soon.
I would also like to apologise for the bad picture quality, my phone isnt great haha. I will try to sort out for next time.
Thanks for the input growdiaries community, you make this place!!!!
had many many issues this cycle so i am happy to have anything, let alone some nice weed!
In a week or two i am going to make some QWISO and will post results here.
Ok, done a round with the isopropyl now, pics posted.
I did it as simply as possible for the first time. I put roughly 7-10 grams into a jar and covered it with the iso. Just enough to cover it. Then I stirred it with a spoon for about 5 mins (probably less, wasn't counting). Next step was to pour it through a coffee filter into a pyrex style glass dish. Resulting liquid was light amber. After hat just got to evaporate away the alcohol. I tried speeding up the process with a hair dryer but in the end I left it overnight and the pics are the result.
Very sticky stuff. Also very strong, I tried a small pinch, about hal a pea maybe less in a vape and it did the job nicely. Gonna smear some on a joint at some point too.
Would recommend trying for youself
Happy growing!
