S4nchi Here we go again. After last‘s year successful grow of Cream Mandarine Auto, we decided to give Sweet Seed‘s red collection a try. Dark Devil it shall be.
3/3 seeds germinated after 4 days in peat pellets. When the roots showed up at the bottom, seedlings were transferred into the final pots.

S4nchi They’re growing nicely. I removed the hoods. The Stems are already purple. We had a few heavy rain showers over the last couple of days but they don‘t care.

S4nchi This week, I added nematodes to the soil to prevent future gnat problems, an issue I ran into last year. I fed with selfmade aloe juice to stimulate root growth. And since we got some scorching weather ahead of us, I also covered the soil with pine mulch to keep it from drying out too quickly.
The babies are enjoying 10 hours of direct sun per day.

S4nchi All 3 devil ladies made some progress. Not so much height-wise with them uniformly now being 13 cm tall, but in terms of sidebranches appearing, getting a little bushier, and the stem thickening.
I‘ll just let them grow as they are. No topping, no LST. Since the strain is new to me, I‘m pretty curious how they turn out without my influence.
The wick watering system works nicely. I have to refill the 5 liter reservoir approximately once a week although we had already some hot days. The lower third of the fabric pots feels moist and cool but not wet.

S4nchi Weeds and kids - they’re growing up so quickly. This week, we have entered the flowering stage which came with a massive jump in height. All girls have doubled their size just in a few days and are now 25 cm tall.
Earlier this week, I gave them a second boost with homemade aloe juice. Weather has been pretty warm with a few cloudy days and occasional rain showers in between.

S4nchi A tough week. There was a 4 day heat wave with temperatures up to 45 degrees on the balcony. While the hooman was suffering, the plants didn’t seem to care and kept growing. I’m not sure yet if being out of their comfort zone will have consequences like herming, lack of color and the likes, but for now they seem ok.
I can see two phenotypes now. Two of the girls show more of a sativa-like shape, sticks with abundant flowers on the nodes and not too many sidebranches. Her sister has a more bush-like appearance, more leafs and sidebranches. She‘s also about 10 cm smaller.
As for coloration, one of the taller girls already starts purpling of the pistils. The others are still green. Maybe we need colder temperatures to let them express the color genes? Let‘s wait and see.
As for nutrients, they‘re getting banana tea from now on.

S4nchi The three devil girls grew a bit in size but I think the flower stretch is almost done. There‘s already an abundance of buds that smell really good. Not intense or overwhelming yet, but sweet and woody.
They were fed with banana tea and molasses.
Although the last few days were cooler than the week before, there are still no significant signs of purpling. I guess we just have to wait and see.

S4nchi Planties are doing nicely. Purpling is on its way! The buds of the two taller sativa-like phenotypes have started to get a little darker. The third plant which is smaller but has a bushier appearance, leaning towards the indica phenotype, stays green so far.
There are already resin droplets visible on the sugar leafs which sparkle in the sun, so beautiful to watch.
Rubbing the sticky stems reveals a rich smell of pine, dark berries and elderflower. This will surely be a very tasty experience once they‘re finished.

S4nchi Playing the waiting game. The devil girls enjoy bathing in the sun, sometimes interrupted by sudden rainfalls. They look good and thanks to a little spider I spotted earlier, there are no pests to see. The smell is awesome and rubbing the stems gives off an aroma of wood, dark chocolate, and spices.
We continue with occasional banana tea feedings. Judging from the bud sizes and the state of trichomes, I guess 3 more weeks.

S4nchi This week was rather rainy and cloudy with only few sunny hours in between. It‘s not the weather I wished for during the last few weeks of this grow but that’s life. Anyways, the devil girls don’t seem to care very much about it. Buds are swelling up and the scent is beautiful and noticeable.
The two phenotypes (green leafs + purple buds vs. green leafs + green buds) are both doing nicely. I wonder if they taste differently.
They were fed with banana tea and molasses.

S4nchi Some warm and sunny days are ahead of us. The majority of trichomes already look cloudy. There are still a few clear ones but no ambers yet. While I actually prefer the cloudy to the amber state, I guess I‘ll give the devil girls just a few more days until they meet their reaper.
As I’m no fan of the dubious practice of starving and flushing before harvest they got some 3:3:3 and a spoonful of molasses today. May they take up all the energy they need.
Nice choice. Had one in late summer last year. Hasn’t purpled and only 37g dry. But nice buds and it growed above 28 degrees in flowering… ultra stressed. I will watch your grow :)
