moikenny Germinated 6 seeds - placed them in 3 long planters with vegetable compost mixed with perlite. Set the drip feeder for 30 seconds every 24 hours and LuckyGrow 100W lights for a 60 x 60 tent at 18 on/ 6 off. Then went on a business trip. 2 weeks later, 4 plants are out and looking great. Mimosa Oranage Punch looks powerful - the leaves are fanning out, they look very healthy and content with the soil and watering. The OG Kush looks simply a smaller plant with wider leaves. At some point I may transplant the OG Kush outdoors and leave the Mimosa in the tent in a bigger pot - coz It's the Mimosa that I want!!

moikenny So 2 weeks back, I moved the plants from the 2 troughs into individual 5ltr pots using the same vegetable compost and perlite - mixed a little from the original trough with the new mix. Of course, transplanting is where you can lose your plants as they definitely can suffer from shock.....but not this year. They were sturdy and I think quite determined to continue growing. For the next 2 weeks, the Mimosa powered up high with her long thin stem and leaves. The OG Kush is simply a different beast altogether - much shorter and fatter leaves. Now, week 6 since planting, 7 since germination, I have 4 flowers in a small tent, all are doing fantastically well, the tomato feed seems to have gone down well with the battery operated drip feeder. The weather has really warmed up so it's a steady 24-26 degrees even in the shade, and dropping to 22-24 degrees at night time. I've just put in a fan, the extraction system is functioning perfectly with very very little smell so far and the LEDs are 18/6 and not creating any heat. The Mimosa has lots of flowers forming while the OG Kush is starting to look like a fat little short monster who will start to flower next week. I reduced the watering cycle 2 weeks back to 20 seconds per day and it seems fine but I have noticed some small flies. The top of the soil is damp and this encourages these flies to lay eggs. I've just placed a small cling filmed covered bowl of apple cider vinegar, water and liquid soap to attract the flies with small one way entry holes. Plus, I coated some small squares of yellow plastic with vaseline to further trap them. The date is 4/July. We are 6 weeks in. In about 3 weeks I will change the lighting to 12/12 and expect to harvest the second week of August.😀

moikenny 8 weeks in. Mimosa is charging away - tall thin and full of flowers. The OG Kush is such a slow mover, its leaves are fatter, darker, much more sumptuous - but I am not seeing any flowers at all. The Mimosa is probably 70cm tall and growing fast towards the light but for the last 2 weeks I changed the light to 15/9 and i think the plant got the message to stop growing up and instead work on the flowers. Lots of them. The very healthy looking OG Kush surprises me. It's very possible that it cannot live alongside the Mimosa and refuses to flower - it's a small tent and I have 4 plants. I had expected to lose 2 of the initial 6 that I planted and then sacrifice 2 at some point - and it is getting it is getting to that point. Do I or don't I remove the OG Kush? I think 2 weeks ago when I changed from 18/6 to 15/9 that I accidentally increased the light intensity. At that time I also added a fan. I have not changed the watering cycle yet the clay (vegetable compost and perlite) seems a bit dry on top. For watering I have a battery powered drip feeder that is set for 30 seconds once a day. I am using a 5 litre plastic bottle of water mixed with tomato feed and it looks like 5 litres will last more than 4 weeks. In truth I am not concerned as when I started I got the timing set up wrong and the clay was a bit damp leading to small flies appearing. To offset that I introduced some yellow plastic pieces coated in vaseline but now the top of the clay is dry so that too stops flies laying eggs in the clay. In the picture you will see the tall thin stems of the Mimosa, plenty of flowers turning to buds. My guess is that I will be harvesting in 3 weeks time - at that time II may only harvest the Mimosa giving the Kush an extra few weeks to work on its flowers. Today was the first time I got a sniff of the tent - but when I switch off the lights I also switch off the extraction fan. The ventilation fan comes on every 2 hours for an hour. The sniff is minor in comparison when I grew in the garden last year. Progress is positive.
