leaf_me_alone Okay boom so I'm a brand new grower this is my first ever time giving it a try. Over the last decade I've started to keep seeds if I found them from bags I enjoyed smoking. Majority of them have been labeled to help me remember genetics/bag/era/etc. but some loose seeds were sitting at the bottom of my bag. I grabbed 3 of them and let them sit in water for a day or two. The next day, one of them sunk, and I decided to just place it in my backyard to start a "learn" grow as a low stress, low budget style grow to get a feel for everything and learn the basics with. So I began to just water every once and a while and fast fwd 2-3 days and here we are, the first sproutling has arrived. I don't know the genetics, and have no idea what I'm doing, but I am loving the process

leaf_me_alone UPDATE ON RALPHS SHORT JOURNEY:
Ralph got eaten by a pest in his early stages of flower. It was 7 days of life that he gave so i could learn more for the next grow. Im very sad to update this i was excited to see what genetics i had with him. New grow soon.
—————————————————————————
Date: June 27th 2025 3:20 pm - day 6 overall
Stage of growth: Seedling/Veg
Environment: 89.6 F, humidity 31%
Updates:
I’ve purchased a ph reader stick, a hygrometer for outside use and logging data which ive used to log todays heat and humidity, calmag, organic worm castings, French marigolds to plant around Ralph, dolomite lime powder, and fence/netting, stakes for structure, neem seed meal for pest prevention, mykos root enhance granules for the soil. Yesterday I read my soil ph levels (7.55 ph) and my reverse osmosis water ph levels (6.6 ph).
Today I set up my hygrometer to start monitoring temp and humidity levels more accurately, as well as top dressed worm castings around Ralph, a very light layer, and then watered on top of that for my 1 water of the day.
Tomorrow, I plan to add my neem seed meal and mykos root enhancer on top, and then start building a netted structure around Ralph on Sunday to give him better conditions to grow with less pests, and furthermore, the option to light dep in the future, since now I would have a structure to cover with a tarp.
Observations: Ralph is looking good (I think) and his first serrated edge leaves are as big as his first two leaves. So far so good. Nothing abnormal to note.
Watering & Feeding: last water was yesterday at 2pm. Soil looked somewhat damp still this morning, so no water this morning. I am now watering ONCE today at 3:20 pm today at peak sunlight just to make sure Ralph doesn’t get too dry. But I am understanding seedlings can be more susceptible to overwatering issues, so trying to water at most 1 time a day.
