NidoR420 12h soaked in water and 5 days in paper towel. Sustrate came 2 days late and delayed the sprouting. (It’s 3 seeds of the cross, not 6 total - diary is showcasing pictures of the best genetic). Adding some context on the seed, it was bought from my local social club, which frequently competes in cannabis cups. It is a cross between a Tropic’Ozz (from Perfect Tree, Tropical Cherry x Peach Ozz) & Yellow Melon (from Dying Breed Seeds, Banana x Watermelon Zkittlez).

NidoR420 One of the 3 is growing much faster than the others. Started controlling the PH at the end of WK01 with ~300ml of dechlorinated water every 3 days, aiming for a PH of 6.5 (in view of WK2 where I will use Boom Roots). No nutrients used apart the ones present in the full mix so far.

NidoR420 I’m gradually adding a small amount (0.75ml/L) of Boom Roots (organic) to the ~300ml of dechlorinated water. Ozz is looking gorgeous (photos), but her sisters are growing quite slowly. Despite this, they’re still growing healthy without any leaf deformities. I was initially rotating my plants to ensure they received light uniformly, but it seemed to weaken the plants and distort their growth shape. So, I’ll keep them in the same orientation for the rest of the growth. On the next watering day, I’ll add some substrate to stabilise the stems. I also need to monitor the watering more closely, as the humidity in my growing area is high (between 60 to 80% RH).

Grow Questions

NidoR420started grow question 1mo ago
Hello, I’m hesitant to add substrate in my pots (around 1cm) because I find the stem’s base very thin compared to its height. Is this a good idea, or does it risk damaging the plant? (Both plants in pictures, 2 different strains). Thanks

5 mm till cotyledons - yes, BUT only on watering day, before watering. Later you can work up , when plant will stretch out. My recommendation - not more than 1 cm lair per week.

NidoR420 She is doing great, still outgrowing her 2 sisters by far. I’m not so concerned as they just seem to grow healthy but slower. The 2 smaller will go in 7 gallons pots anyway, whereas Ozz will be repotted in a 15 gallon pot when 4/5 full set of leaves will have grown. I will include a picture of the 3 for the reference this weekend. I need to control the height of my plants as I’m growing on a rooftop, so I’m planning to do LST but I’m unsure if before or after transplanting. Previous watering was 10 days after germination. Unfortunately, there was a sudden storm on the supposed watering day and the plants got wet. It further delayed the addition of substrate as the soil stayed moist for nearly another week. I also missed controlling the pH of the solution when watering, which was around 8 (no nutrients though). I’ll aim for a closer to 6 for future watering to balance it. The weather turned really bad in the second half of Week 2, and the growth was clearly slowed. However, it’s improving this week. Also gave me the opportunity to grab a few litres of rain water, with a ppm of only 93 (after boom roots) and naturally balanced at a PH of 6.

Grow Questions

NidoR420started grow question 1mo ago
My 2 plants (different strains) are at 5th (Ozz) and 4th (Peppino) node. I plan to top at 4th/5th node, then repot next week (Peppino needs it soon, Ozz maybe later) and start LST a week after. Is this timing OK or will it be too late for training? I need to limit the height

Topping now at node 4–5 is fine, but to keep shock minimal I’d repot first, let her recover for 3–7 days, then top and immediately LST the new shoots. That way the roots get space before you stress the plant above, and you’re not stacking transplant and topping at the same time. If you top before transplant, you risk slowing recovery twice—instead: pot up, wait until you see fresh stretch, snip the top at the 4th/5th node, then gently bend your side branches. Nonetheless, at my latitude it would be probably the last 2 or 3 weeks for outdoor training - watch out for that if they are going to bloom soon I would top immediately or not at all.

NidoR420 Day 22 post germination: she got into her final pot, with 50L of Boom Nutrients Light mix and 6L of perlite. She is growing fast without much issues. As per the advices of the community I am still unsure if I will train or top them. I have a hard time estimating how tall the plants are going to grow, but they must not exceed 1.5m. Day 26: I actually topped her :) just for the learning experience, I don’t think she needed it but you never know unless you try

NidoR420 She’s starting her fifth week of veg, not in preflower yet. That is good as she’s just starting to recover from the topping. Day 32: she fully recovered from the topping, doing better than ever :) I’m still waiting to see if it’s a she though. I controlled the runoff and measured 2200ppm / 5.5 PH. I will use plain water at natural PH until the runoff comes back to acceptable values (aiming for less than 500ppm / 6-6.5 PH). The 2 other plants came back with similar values, but as they all seem healthy I won’t flush for now.

NidoR420 Day 36: I (finally) started the low stress training! It was really necessary, she reacted well. I also removed the bottom node but didn’t defoliate much for now. There was a second heat wave for most of the week, but I’m expecting the temperature to drop below 30 degrees in the coming day. I hope she’ll spend another week in veg but I fear next week will be tough, very little sun forecasted and we are already below 14h of light a day. I removed a few nodes on the lower branches and defoliated at the end of day 42, exposing the nodes to more light. It’s most likely in its final stretch.

NidoR420 Well, I suppose she’s starting her seventh week of veg :) Still, no pistil yet. The defoliation from last week is visible, and I removed most of the lower nodes (keeping a few, as I might remove more depending on the growth). I also improved the LST when watering and stretched the two main stalks wider to encourage side branches to grow. Only fed them plain water this week, to reduce ppm and increase ph closer to 6.5. She is starting to really stretch from the second half of the week, I added 2 supports as there was heavy wind.
