Sadly, this has been a complete bust. The Baked Alaska managed to germinate, then decapitated itself when its cotyledons got stuck under some peat and it grew enough in a day to bend then snap its own stem. Seems to be living on and I am humouring it to see what it does. The three GSC seeds completely failed to germinate, didn't even pop. I am trying to germinate some more now using the wet paper towel/plate method to see if I was just shit out of luck with the first three. A very disappointing start...

Decided to grow some plants for the pleasure of it (both in growing and consuming). Did some research and settled on a system of 1.2x1.2x2.0m grow tent, 600W HPS with digital ballast, filtered intake (mould, dust & pests) and filtered exhaust (smell), coir/perlite medium (80/20) in cloth 30l bags, hand watering with locally produced nutrients. Will add two "reptile lights" for UVA/UVB light on an intermittent timing.
This week I got the seeds in the mail and sowed them into Jiffy pellets soaked in the nutrient mix above with a drop of Clonex rooting hormone. These are in a "mini greenhouse" lit using a 4200K (colour) LED and warmed by a heat pad from a home brew system. Lighting will be 24 hours until seedlings emerge, then 18/6.
Seeds are: 3 x Autoseeds Girl Scout Cookies Auto Feminised, 1 x High Altitude Seed House Baked Alaska (the one with the toothpick in the Jiffy picture).
