tDevGrower420 This is my first documented grow. It is also the first time I am trying to germinate directly in the substrate. Was a little impatient with this one around day 4 of still not seeing the sprout and brushed away some coco to reveal she was in fact well on her way up.
During the 5th day after planting, the plant was starting to stand up, but it still had its helmet. I told myself if she didn't pop it off by the morning of day 6 I would help her out. So that's what I did this morning.
When I opened up my tent the sprout was standing full upright and still had it's helmet on. I did what any other impatient grower would do and popped it off with some tweezers. The membrane from the seed was also still stuck on after, an issue I have run into before. While slightly more challenging to remove I still gently pulled it off with the tweezers. Of course, I have before and after photos of the surgical procedure.
Anyways, I would officially call today day 0 since that helmet is now off and the cotyledons are starting to get light.
The only thing I, as a perfectionist, would beat myself up on this grow so far is the pH of the water I used to hydrate the coco. Not sure if that entirely matters, but I didn't check the pH before doing it. After planting the seed I checked the tap water pH and it seemed a bit high around 7.5-8. Will be watering and spraying with 5.8 pH going forward.
Other than the first couple days of the germination process, (which weren't too far off) I have dialed in my environment to about 79F and 70 rh. The nights have been getting cold so I am risking using a automatic space heater I use in my office during the day.
Thanks for checking my grow out, and happy Friday!
