Xpie77 Successful Feminized Cross: The Bird (Colloidal Silver Hermaphrodite, Sensi Seeds) × Red Wine (Feminized, Seeds Genetics) --- Grower: Xpie77 Date: December 26, 2025 Goal: Create a new hybrid with the best traits of two powerful indica-dominant strains: The Bird (70% indica, OG Kush × Humboldt Dream × Larry Bird/Gelato #33) – compact, high-yielding, green-purple buds and a thick layer of trichomes. Red Wine (Rozay F2 × Jet A) – aromatic, fast-flowering, deep purple colors and fruity-sweet red wine terpenes (grapes, berries). ---- The Story No male plants available? No problem! I have a strong female The Bird (Sensi Seeds) step over to hermaphrodite with colloidal silver (silver water). This is a reliable method to make female plants produce male flowers without a Y chromosome. I sprayed the silver water daily on a few branches during the first 2-3 weeks of flowering. The treated branches developed male pollen sacs (nanners), while the rest of the plant just stayed normal. ---- I used this colloidal silver pollen to pollinate two healthy female Red Wine plants (Seeds Genetics). The operation went perfectly, and after a few weeks, I saw the seeds developing in the best oven buds. ---- Results Seed yield: From just two pollinated Red Wine plants, I harvested an impressive 300 seeds! ---- Seed quality: Healthy, thick, dark, and well-formed – top quality! ---- Important: Since the pollen comes from a female plant (XX), these are feminized seeds – usually 100% female plants in the next generation. What I expected from this feminized F1 hybrid Almost 100% female – ideal for pheno-hunting without risking male plants. ---- Dominant indica traits: Relaxing body high, compact growth, short flowering time (7-9 weeks). Color & aroma: Green-purple from The Bird + deep purple and sweet-fruity red wine from Red Wine. ---- Yield & trichomes: High yields and thick trichome layer – perfect for buds, hash extracts. Advantage of colloidal silver: The hermie traits are chemically induced, so the chance of spontaneous hermie in the next generation is very low (much lower than with stress-roding). Conclusion This was a huge success! With colloidal silver, I made reliable feminized pollen from a female The Bird and harvested 300 feminized seeds of The Bird × Red Wine. Xpie77 GrowDiary Report: The Bird × Red Wine – Feminized F1 Pheno-Hunt (Week 5 Flowering) Grower: Xpie77 Date: January 2, 2026 Strain: The Bird (Sensi Seeds) × Red Wine (Seeds Genetics) – homemade feminized F1 seeds Number of plants: 16 Current phase: Week 5 flowering Photo update (Week 5) Here’s an overview photo of the whole tent: 16 plants are looking thick, nice and even, and healthy. The canopy is full and green, buds are starting to swell nicely, and there’s already a nice layer of trichomes on them. They’re not purple or black yet, as you can clearly see – everything is still fresh green with light pistils. That’s normal in week 5; the real color change (especially from the Red Wine side) often comes later, around weeks 7-9, when the nights get cooler and the plant matures. I expect that some phenos will change significantly to purple or deep dark in the coming weeks. Status update Growth & structure: Compact indica look, nice bushy plants with lots of side buds. Everything is neatly trained and even. Trichome production: Already well visible, especially on the sugar leaves and budding tops – they’re already glistening a bit under the light. Color: Still completely green. No purple visible yet, but that’s coming – fingers crossed for that beautiful Red Wine purple! Aroma: Getting stronger: fruity with wine-like tones and a gassy undertone. Smells great in the tent already. Health: Perfect. No deficiencies, no stress, leaves dark green and sturdy. What to expect in the coming weeks Buds will continue to swell and become denser. Trichomes will get thicker and milky. Hopefully beautiful purple/blackout colors in some phenos (I’m intentionally keeping the night temperature a bit lower to encourage that). End of week 8-9 harvest, depending on the plant. Conclusion The 16 F1 plants from my own The Bird × Red Wine cross are doing super well. No spectacular colors yet, but everything points to a healthy, vigorous flowering. The real show (color, frost, and aroma) is coming – I can’t wait to see which phenos will stand out. Xpie77 GrowDiary Report: The Bird × Red Wine – Feminized F1 Pheno-Hunt (Week 6 Flowering) Grower: Xpie77 Date: January 11, 2026 Strain: The Bird (Sensi Seeds) × Red Wine (Seeds Genetics) – homemade feminized F1 seeds Number of plants: 16 pieces Current phase: Week 6 flowering Photo update (Week 6) Here’s a close-up of one of the buds in week 6 – check out that insane trichome layer! The whole top is covered with a thick layer of frost, everything sparkles under the light. Still mostly green, but the pistils are getting thicker and darker, and there’s already a slight purple hue in the calyxes of some phenos. The real purple/blackout colors are still on their way, but the resin production is already next level. The bud looks super healthy and resinous – exactly what you want to see in week 6 of an indica-dominant cross like this. Status Update in Week 6 The 16 plants are in full development and the flowering is really picking up: Bud development: Buds are swelling significantly, calyxes are getting bigger and thicker. The tops are starting to become compact. Trichome production: Mega frost everywhere! Sugar leaves and buds are covered in resin – many phenos already seem harvest-ready in terms of trichomes (but not yet in terms of color/ripeness). Color: Still largely green, with slight purple hints on a few plants. I’m keeping the night temperature low to boost the anthocyanins – expect more purple in weeks 7-8. Aroma: Getting more intense in the tent: sweet grapes/berries (Red Wine) with a gassy/funky punch (The Bird). Smells already like a premium strain. Health: Top condition. Leaves dark green, no deficiencies, good stretch past, everything even. What to Expect in the Coming Weeks Another 2-4 weeks of flowering (depending on the pheno: 8-10 weeks total). Buds will continue to harden and trichomes will go from clear → milky → amber (time to check with a loupe!). Hopefully more color change in the Red Wine-dominant phenos. Starting with a light flush towards the end. Conclusion Week 6 is where it really gets exciting – the frost is insane and the potential is screaming out. The buds have swelled up nicely, are compact, and are full of resin. The trichome layer is stronger than ever – many phenos are already white from frost. Here are a few close-ups of the buds at this stage: check out the insane trichome coverage and the beginning purple hints in some calyxes. Here you see a typical frosty cola from the tent – everything covered with a thick layer of milky trichomes, pistils becoming components, and the buds hardening up. Still mostly green, but a few plants are starting to show subtle purple at the bottom and in the sugar leaves. And this is how some phenos stand out as the real resin peaks: super frosty with a mix of clear and milky trichomes – perfect time to start closely monitoring for harvest time. Status update Bud development: Buds are now really thick and heavy, calyxes hugely swollen. The structure is compact, indica-like in most. Trichome production: Next level! Many trichomes are milky, a few starting to turn amber – time to grab the magnifying glass. Color: Not massively purple/black yet, but first hints visible in 4-5 phenos (light purple streaks and shades). With the cold nights, I hope it pushes through the recommended week. Aroma: Intense in the tent – sweet red wine/grapes/berries with a gassy funk. Each pheno has its own twist, but it smells premium. Health: Everything is great. No issues, leaves still green and vital (though some fading is starting at the lower leaves – normal in late flowering). Xpie77 Week 8 Flowering – Red Wine × The Bird F1 (16 plants, tent setup) Date: around January 24, 2026 Medium: Biobizz / Hesi mix (organic/biological style) Light: 12/12, full spectrum LED ~600-800 PPFD Temp/RH: 24-26°C day / 20-22°C night, RH 40-45% Nutrients: Bloom A+B light + PK booster (slightly reduced after initial light tip burn), CalMag, enzymes. General status: The plants are in the final phase. Stretch is long gone, they have remained compact (thanks to The Bird genetics) but with nice thick, full colas due to the Red Wine influence. Average height 80-110 cm from flip. Everything still looks super healthy – the slight nutrient burn from weeks 5-6 has fully recovered, leaves dark green and vital. Bud development: Top colas are significantly swollen, sugar leaves are tight and pointing outward. Buds are dense and hard – a nice mix of foxtail-like structure (The Bird) and round, rock-hard nuggets (Red Wine). Resin production at peak: the whole plants are glistening, especially the zone. Trichomes are at 70-80% milky + 10-20% amber (varies by pheno). Another 1-2 weeks until harvest for most, maybe 9 for the slowest purple variants. Colors & bag appeal: The purple/green combo is really coming through now, especially with cooler nights. Sugar leaves and some leaf deep purple-violet (The Bird side), with red wine-red undertones on the calyxes (Red Wine). Not fully black-purple, but a nice deep berry/purple with green accents – looks killer already. In the last week, it will probably be even deeper colors. Aroma in the tent (and already seeping out): Intensely sweet! Red wine / port / overripe berries dominate, with a fruity cassis/blueberry punch and a light grape note. Underneath, an underground earthy/hash note from The Bird. The filter is working overtime – it already smelled nicely pungent-sweet from outside the tent. This is going to be a nose winner. Problems/solutions this week: No new issues. Watering further reduced (runoff EC ~1.4-1.6), prepping for flushing. Round 2 defoliation done: only fan leaves that blocked bud sites removed. Last PK boost given, next week switching to plain water + enzymes. Highlights of Pheno: A few phenos (#7 & #12 style): mostly purple, thickest trichome layer, sweetest aroma – perfect mother/cloning candidates. Others (#3 style): more green, but buds harder and potent – potential for high yield. All 16 plants are in good shape, no problems. Outlook: Next week (week 9) harvest for the structure (10-12 plants), the rest maybe 1 week longer. Expected harvest: late January / early February. This is already smelling like a strong F1 keeper.

Xpie77 GrowDiary Report: The Bird × Red Wine – Feminized F1 Pheno-Hunt (Week 9 Flowering) Grower: Xpie77 Date: January 31, 2026 Strain: The Bird (Sensi Seeds) × Red Wine (Seeds Genetics) – homemade feminized F1 seeds Number of plants: 16 pieces Current phase: Week 9 flowering Update Week 9 We are now deep in the final phase and it's really a party in the tent! Most buds are rock hard, the trichomes are predominantly milky with a nice mix of amber heads, and for quite a few phenos, the purple color has finally broken through. Not everything has turned black-purple, but 7-8 plants now show clear purple hues in the calyxes, sugar leaves, and sometimes even whole branches. The frost is so thick that the tops look like sugared fruit – sticky, shiny, and super resinous. The first phenos have already been harvested (the earliest milky/amber ripe), and the rest are still looking beautiful. The smell is overwhelming: the whole space smells of ripe grapes, dark berries, and a sharp gassy funk. Status Update in Week 9 Bud development: Tops are now maximally swollen and compact. Calyxes extremely thick, pistils fully dark and curled inward. Weight feels really heavy. Trichome production: For most plants 85-95% milky, 10-20% amber (depending on the pheno). The resin layer is insane – fingers stick to it when you touch it. Color: Finally results! 7-8 phenos: clear purple to deep purple hues (especially Red Wine-dominant). Rest: green with purple accents or still largely green. The cold nights have helped a lot, but not everything has fully changed color. Aroma: Bombproof! Intense fruity red wine (grapes, cassis, sweet berries) with a strong gassy/diesel undertone from The Bird. Each pheno has its own nuance – from super sweet to more funky. Health: Leaves are further yellowing (normal in flush), no more issues. Everything is on schedule. Harvest update First 4-5 phenos already harvested: trichomes at peak (15-25% amber) → perfect for a relaxing body high. Next batch (most plants): flushing and cutting in 5-10 days. Last phenos (still a bit clearer): let hang for another week for extra ripeness and color. All plants labeled separately and tested for trichome ripeness with a loupe – this is how I select the real keepers. Conclusion Week 9 is the cherry on top for this The Bird × Red Wine F1 run. The combination of thick frost, purple colors in a good portion of the plants, and that complex fruity-gas aroma makes this a super successful cross. With 16 plants, I have enough variation to select 3-4 absolute top performers for cloning and F2 seeds. The first drying results already look promising – this is going to be fireworks!
