This week marks the exciting beginning of the grow with Fast Buds genetics. To ensure strong and even germination, the seeds were first soaked for 24 hours in distilled water inside a Cannakan, placed on a heat mat set to 26 °C. This gentle warmth helps activate the embryo and softens the seed shell, encouraging it to crack open. By the end of the soak, most of the seeds showed slight openings in their shells, a clear sign that they were ready for the next stage.
After soaking, the excess water was carefully removed to create a slightly moist—but not flooded—environment. This step encourages the taproot to search downward for moisture, promoting stronger root development right from the start.
Meanwhile, Rockwool cubes were prepped as the germination medium. They were thoroughly rinsed and balanced with pH-adjusted water (5.5) to create the ideal root zone for early growth. No nutrients were added at this point, since young seedlings rely on their internal nutrient reserves during the first few days.
The cubes were then placed inside the germination box, where humidity levels (Huminandy) were kept consistently high, ensuring the seed shells don’t dry out during this delicate stage. The combination of high humidity, gentle warmth, and oxygen-rich conditions supports quick emergence of the taproots.
Overall, the seeds responded perfectly to this method — tiny cracks in the shells and early root activity indicate a promising start. The next step will be monitoring for the first visible sprouts and ensuring the Rockwool remains evenly moist without being soaked. 🌱✨
