Captain_Greenout Dec 10 2025 - Planted Directly in Soil - healthy seedling.
Blueberry Bastard F4 is a variety of Australian Bastard Cannabis. The ABC leaf mutation has an interesting origin story, and I'm giving this strain a whirl because it has an interest lineage and flavor profile.
Captain_Greenout Day 28 - Topped on day 27 and appears to be doing healthy still. First pistil hair spotted on day 26.

Captain_Greenout Day 35 - She's doing really well and transitioning into flower quickly, already stretching her tiny limbs by a good amount each day.
There is still absolutely no smell from her, but a gentle stem rub smells strongly of fresh blueberry pie. No limonene smell whatsoever.
She was repotted into a 3 Gallon grow bag, just in case she needs more room to run her roots.

Captain_Greenout Day 42 - She's stretched quite a bit and is transitioning quickly into flower. I removed unnecessary shoots and leaves on day 40 to help her put as much energy into the colas, because any popcorn nugs on a plant this size would probably be pea-sized and barely worth robbing energy from the colas. I tried to limit how much foliage I removed as ABC leaves are so small, but despite only taking mostly lower branches, she looks like I went overboard. I don't think I'll ever stop having that "uh-oh" moment after doing early flower defoliation, and with this girl it's all the more nerve-racking because the leaves are so small and she looks so naked ๐
At this stage I would normally only be watering and feeding through the self-watering base, but due to her small size I think that might put too much stress on her root system, so I'm also giving small amounts of the same water/feed mix on the top so that her root system isn't struggling, which can result in leaf tip/edge damage.
Moving into week 7 I will add a very small amount of cal-mag-iron nutrients to her feed, as well as very small amounts of big bud formula. While small, she's definitely draining the reservoir underneath her and seems content so far. Her limbs seem strong enough already to hold sizeable buds.

Captain_Greenout [Day 49] - She's been in flower for about 3 weeks and is now at the critical point where she's putting all her energy into the buds. I'll be ramping up lighting on her and with any luck she'll be able to handle it. I've put a homemade CO2 bottle next to her on the ground which should help a little.
I haven't seen any obvious signs of nutrient deficiency. There is some increased Anthocyanin production happening thanks to the chillier nights, although I've been trying not to chill her too much just yet and keep the night time temps reasonable.
The next 3 weeks or so will be critical. I'm used to bigger plants that devour nutrients, and to date this bastard variety has been extremely low maintenance.

Captain_Greenout [4-Feb-2026 | Day 56] - Lots of flower development this past week with a good density of pistils. It's getting difficult to see the actual buds underneath them.
I've been increasing the light intensity to hit around 31-32 DLI at the colas this week, while piping in cool air from the window during lights-on to keep VPD at reasonable levels. So far she's been fine with nutrients, at least as far as I can tell given that the ABC leaves don't express her mood in the same way that regular leaves would.
The next 2 weeks should prove interesting if all goes well. ๐ช๐ค

Captain_Greenout [11-Feb-2026 | Day 63] - She is now 5 weeks into flower and doing really well. The pistils just keep multiplying and the branches are starting to get some real weight on them. Buds look nice and dense so far. The estimated flower time is 74-80 days, so she's just shy of being half way to the finish line. She's just starting to smell now, her scent is very sweet like candy, nearly tasting the sweetness when I open the tent door.
Lighting is now at 925 PPFD near the top colas, with a DLI of 40. So far she's been fine with this level of intensity, although the fan leaves are definitely taking a beating and starting to age. There has been a lot of water leaves and sugar leaves appearing this week on the colas, which is good considering how naked she is. Anthocyanin production is ramping up, with fan leaves and some water leaves showing purple spreading on the petioles (leaf stems).
One more week at least of pushing her to her limits. Pistils are just starting to amber. Two days ago there were a couple amber pistils I could spot across all the flowers, today there's probably a couple dozen. RH% has been holding steady at 45% for the past week with VPD between 1.4 and 1.5.

Captain_Greenout [2026-Feb-18 | Day 70] - Her buds are starting to fatten up now, their green color pushing through the blanket of pistils, and the pistils are starting to amber up nicely with a striking blood-orange color. Petioles are getting more saturated with Anthocyanin.
She's now at least 42 days into flower, which means we're past the half-way mark of the estimated 74-80 days of flowering time. This leaves another ~5 weeks left before chop, but I'll be scoping the trichomes on the buds starting in a few weeks to get a better idea.
@Oldwied, thanks, yeah my first time trying out an Australian Bastard strain, this one's super tiny, might get enough flower to roll a joint. ๐ It's size makes it hard to scope pre-flowers, but the males I chopped showed at day 23 with clear rod and ball, so pretty slim chance this one's in disguise.
Wow, these plants are looking happy and healthy ๐๐ฑ๐ฅ Great job! Keep growing strong ๐ช If you have time, check out my YouTube grow channel and show some love ๐๐นโจ
