Germination

SupaWaw Welcome back, everyone! I'm thrilled to be starting my first grow of the year with a strain from Sweet Seeds. Diablo Rojo XL was chosen to mark the start of the season. To germinate the seed, I soak it for 24 hours in a solution of 40 ml of water and 10 ml of hydrogen peroxide, maintaining a stabilized pH between 6 and 6.5. After 24 hours, the seed sprouts its root, showing off its incredible vitality! Then, it's time to plant the seed in a rockwool cube. Since temperatures in my area are still very cold, I place the seed in an LED dome with a heating mat underneath to maintain temperatures between 20 and 24 °C. After another 24 hours, the seedling sprouts its cotyledons.

SupaWaw Glad you’re here for this week’s update! This week, I transferred the seedling to the DWC system and adjusted the pH to 5.8. The plant is still recovering from the change in environment. The roots haven't reached the nutrient solution yet, which is slowing things down for now. I began light feeding this week using products from Advanced Hydroponics of Holland. Temperatures are on the low side, and the relative humidity is around 65%-75%. The first few weeks are always slow, but I expect an explosive growth spurt once the roots reach the nutrient solution and the plant settles in. I'll continue to monitor the pH level, root development, and environmental conditions, and I'll share updates as things progress.

SupaWaw Time for this week’s progress report! This week, an unexpected challenge arose that slowed things down a bit. I noticed that something was wrong with the nutrient uptake, and after checking everything, I discovered that the pH meter I was using had a faulty probe. It was giving completely inaccurate readings, which led to several days of nutrient deficiency. As soon as I realized the problem, I switched to my backup pH meter and corrected the levels immediately. I also replaced the nutrient solution with a fresh mix. Once the pH issue was resolved, the improvement was almost immediate. The roots have grown dramatically, spreading rapidly throughout the mesh pot and proving that the plant still has plenty of vigor. I hope this minor setback won't have too much of an impact on the overall development of the strain. I'll be keeping a close eye on the new growth and continuing to monitor the pH carefully to avoid any more surprises. I'm looking forward to seeing how it recovers next week.
