foxbberg Hey Friends! Not only some new girls moved in...... i spent them brandnew waterbeds!!! Lets start at the build: - 30-liter-pots filled with perlite (85%) and coco (15%) - 10-liter-reservoir underneath (pp 40x30x12 cm) - Aquarium-water-pump, piping/hosing holes were cut into the lid of the reservoir - 1 big hole right under the bucket, 1 for the piping and 2 for service/controll purposes. ......more holes were drilled into the bottom of the bucket. To prevent any obstructions i put some bug-netting into the bucket before filling it with perlite/coco mix. Pumps push up nutrient-solution 10 times a day for 1 or 2 Minutes (1,5-3 L) The Girls: Gorilla Zkittlez clones by mailorder...... 4 completely different characters as i assume - a very unique definition of 'clones'😅. Getting the Girls into the buckets was a bit tricky, since the lids are connected to the piping/hosing...... yet the entire handling of my diy-hydro-system is comfortable and everything seems to run flawless. At arrival i only fed organics, ca/mg and silicate, then added our new GROWTH, wich has a slightly better nitrogen-composition than the original formula, on day 2. slowly ramped up the EC from 0,8 to 1,3 as i cranked up the lights from 30 t0 60%. VPD at 0,9-1,0. next steps planned: a little LST, raisng EC to 1,6 slowly Day 4 pH raised to about 6.5; EC dropped to about 0.8 filled up some nutrient solution and got to pH5.6/EC1.5 and added some H2O2 (solution3% 8ml per liter) Days 5&6 No care at all - just kept the system running an checked the figures: pH up - EC down....nothing special Day7 WTF...???? they grow like crazy !!!!! i could really see the difference beteween leaving home at morning and coming back in the afternoon.....😅 by the way.... i took all the pics at night - so the girls look a bit tired:-) at daytime the really look vital👍

foxbberg Hey friends! At day 7 they really took off. On No1 and No2 did some LST as a preparation to super-cropping and changed the water. How i feed my girls: Once a week i prepare a nutrient solution with the exact figures for Ca & Mg, plus silicate and Bio-Complex (ALL ESSENTIALS). Then add growth-fertilizer till i reach my desired EC. As the EC drops over the week, i only feed growth-fertilizer. pH is set to about 5.6 in the fresh solution. As it raises about 6 i give some H2O2 to keep it stable. Should it exeed 6.5 within less than 7 days, i would change the water...... Day 10 Super-cropped the girls - No2 got a split stem. In general: It really looks well and the bucket-thing seems to work. Over the last week i fed some 6 or 7 liters to fill up the reservoirs again - making me think, these girls are really thirsty. Feeding the right amounts of fertilizer is really easy as i can simply calculate, what to add😃👌- really love it! Day 11 The girls already recover from the bending. Also they start flashing a beautiful dark green. They still develop kinda unequal - i wonder what my scrog's gonna look like....... whuteva - i'm really looking forward for the next weeks 😃 already looks like fun and hydroponics is gooood for impatient folks like me😆.

foxbberg Hey friends ! everything fine so far..... had to drill bigger holes into bucket No.4. Seems like some sludge buildup in the netting kept the water from running back into the reservoir. This specific bucket was a bit 'slower' from the beginning - finally the perlite would swim up and no drain at all...... The other buckets work just fine - yet. As soon as i recognize slower drainage, i will improve them as well - before i intsall a scrog-net. The girls are all fine - they took the bending without any complaints. Feeding is still....: Ca, Mg, Si, Bio-Complex and growth-fertlizer for the start of the week - any refill without Si and Bio-Complex. pH 5.6 EC 1.5 will keep the EC at 1.5 or higher - pH won't be touched as far as it doesn't exceed 6.5 Day 15 a little defoliation to get some lights to the youngest shoots Day 17 High pH in the morning (6.5)….. gave some P-acid and keep observing. Vigorous growth💪🏻! Found another bucket without any drainage…… had to fix this one too….. so i expect to drill a couple more holes 🤷🏼‍♂️ maybe i‘ll do this; before changing water next time…… Day 20 Drilled he other buckets too........ though there were no signs of obstruction in the drainage......... What else...? My never-really-trusted pH-meter is obviuously off track. DRIVES ME MAD!!!! it doesn't interfere with my work - i still got bundles of reliable paper-stripes.... but right now i'm in the right mood to share some thoughts about them thangs: Test-stripes: These things are cheap ( 3 bucks /100pcs), and even the crappiest far east products i bought were kinda precise....meaning: the test-stripe really hits the tones of hose printed coluor scales at the exact pH. unless you don't expose them to the sun too much, they will work just fine..... only downside: thes things don't give you exact figures (like 5.6) but a quite precise idea in wich range you are. digital pH-meters: i never dared to buy those very cheap ones.........but even from 50 bucks up, you will have to calibrate from time to time, somme need to be stored in KCL,, you need batteries , they are slow, some of them cannot convert the temperature-factor (complete non-sense -products....unless you always prepare your solution at 25 degrees), some need refill solution, theoretically, some of them could show you the exact pH.......... but you can never be sure, without reference-testing. FRIENDS: I'll order more stripes today!

foxbberg The girls do really well - while i‘m suffering from a flu🤮……. Didn‘t change or do much but a little defoliation and feeding a slightly higher EC. Day 22 changed nutrient-solution....started with EC 1.7 this time, and will try to keep the VPD over 1.0 at 25 to 27 degrees C. Next steps: installing the scrog net, keep on defoliating for better light penetration Day 23 first signs of 'tip-burn' - slightly yellow tips ......... seems we hit the sweet spot😊 Installed the net in the evening and will organize leafs and branches tomorrow. Weather is changing and VPD in the tent collapses ….. not sure wether it‘s the weather or the leafage…… but leaving the doors open, still helped a bit….. as turning up the vent a bit did….. now i hardly get to 1.0 Day 24 - 28 Everything fine! Girls grow like crazy - busy filling the net..... ...the other day my nematodes arrived - though i had hardly trapped 5 flies on my yellow cards, i poured out 2 teaspoons fo nematodes and will keep observing..... Changed water at day 28 already (only for personal reasons...) and fed an EC of 1.9 The girls make organizing the scrog really easy - only drawback is, that they arrived in various states of growth as clones - so the ones that were behind, never caught up to those bigger ones. Not a big deal and it won't take away anything - but somehow eliminates the advantages of buying clones😳.

foxbberg Day 29 a little weaving here, some defoliation there........ everything fine so far Day 31 you can really watch them drink and grow....... they drank down the EC from 1.9 to a 1.6 while having more than a liter of nutrient-solution. The net starts filling........ time to think about the flip. Day 33 OK - we're at about 80-90% of the net beeing filled. TIME TO FLIP! prepared nutrient solution for the transition to bloom: Water prepared as usual (silicate, Ca, Mg) 40% growth-fertilizer 60% bloom-fertilizer bio-complex as usual EC 2.0 let it rest over night Organized and trimmed the girls a llittle Day 34 brought the nutrient-solution down to about 5.5 for the last time........ from now on i'll rather start at about 6.0 cranked the lights up to 100 % and set the machines for a VPD of +1.1 ( i still have the vaporizer working, though there is plenty of green in the tent...) Lights: 12/12...... will decrease to 80% after 9 hours to keep them plants from stressing out Nutrients: Will keep observing the EC closely - i might have to fill up with higher concentrated solution every here and there....... Defoliation: Every now and then i cut some fan-leafs for better light-penetration and airflow..... 20-60g / day. As soon as they show buds and stop stretching, i'll give them a lollypopping. Messed up with my automation, so the complete ventilation was off for 20 minutes at lights out.......... 80 % rh at 18 degrees C. cranked up the vent, shut off the lights in the room and opened the tent for a minute......done. They'll have a good, first, long night😴

foxbberg Day 36 second day of 12/12 and no signs of flowering yet. Foliage is growing like crazy, but some could get an idea of how this is going to be a screen of green. To be exact - this will be a scrog plus four adult plants in the corners of the tent....😁. .......basically meaning : i've wasted time enough to cultivate 4 Plants 😯. Considering the experience from my last grow (rather indica-type bushy plants) i will overthink my method of scrogging for future grows. 1.) Build a frame to get a real tight netting 2.) Installing the net as soon as possible 3.) No more supercropping, LST or whatever....... only use the net to steer directions of growth 4.) Strictly remove fan-leafs, taking light from any other shoot this way i'll be able, to make better use of the shoots and branches pointig away from the center - whether mighty big sativas or small bushy indicas........ i'll have way better controll ........hopefully😎 Nutrients: i'm on 50/50 growth/bloom fertilizer...... to get N down i'll fill up with bloom only during the week and leave away GROWTH completely when changing the nutrient-solution next time. Day 39 Visible signs of flowering…….. Time to give a P-Boost! Cut down N and raised P, so it should be something like 10-40-35 (N-P-K; roughly). Next week i‘ll switch to regular bloom-nutrition. The young ladies look wonderful. Shoots galore! Not too much of a stretch yet. Day 40 Lollypopped carefully and took some fan-leafs out the canopy. Tomorrow i'll remove weak branches from the canopy and organize my entire scrog. Now that'll still leave me with 4 trees standing in the corners........ and i made a decision: I'll cut'em!!! .....then i will try to make 'em clones and reveg them. This way i might have some pretty little plants, when spring arrives😎. Wonder wether they can produce roots fast enough to keep the entire top alive. Since this is just an experiment i'll keep it nice and easy - ill make a clean, diagonal cut and put them into a ALL ESSENTIALS-solution (0,3 g/l), then they'll have a cosy place on the floor of the tent while light's on and will move to my livingroom for the rest of the day. Either theyll show roots or die trying.... I'll let you know:-). Day 41 after getting so little N, getting the legs shaved and the hair cut, the young ladies look a bit pale.... nevertheless they drink like crazy and keep growing. Organizing the scrog was easy - now 80 of 81 squares are filled and hopefully i'll find a branch i can weave into the last one....... ROOTS!!!! there are roots reaching out of all 4 buckets into the reservoirs....... but yet the drainage seems to work........ wonder wether it will effect the water in the reservoirs....... reservoir No. 4 is way darker tha the rest........ maybe the pump didn't get the last drop when i changed solution (day 39). now it's time to let them recover a little bit and then i'll chop off their heads 😯. right now i got the idea of cooking some soil in the oven -to get it bug

foxbberg Day 43Now those Trees have to leave...... Cut clones from the main colas by chopping off 30-40 cm. Then ripped away all shoots from the stem, till they looked like thin little palm-trees. Finally i cut away all big fan-leafs and put the main colas into pots (yes-i DID cook the soil, to keep bugs out!) - the shoots went into water. Gave plenty of water to those in the soil and added ALL-ESSENTIALS to all of them. then returned to the tent and cut out weak growth & fan-leafs, organized the scrog .......and still saw too much foliage.......will care for this in the next days. YESS...... right now i'm really happy about how things go....... shoots and buds are popping up everywhere😁!!!! Roots seem to grow like crazy........ i lyrically have to defend my circulation-pumps with a scissor😈 Day 44 Filled up the tanks and raised P a little....... will give a real P-Boost with the next changing ow water, so the buds will have a little support, while gaining weight. took away more foliage and weak shoots - and kept organizing the scrog the clones seem to be fine - they still pray😇. Hopefuy they'll make some good outdoor-plants in the gardens of my dearest friends - maybe i'll keep some 2or 3 for my own garden. Will i bring some back to my tent....? No! It's still clones from clones..... (maybe clones from clones from clones.....only my distributor knows)..... chances are, that something gets lost. Day 45 Feel like Agent Orange himself.......😝. have to keep defoliating....... and whenever i think 'that's enough' another shoot or leaf appears😯 after all that cutting and weaving the young ladies look a bit stressed - but nothing to worry about. Tomorrow i'll clean out the tanks and give some fresh nutrient solution. Day 46 Washed the reservoir with H2O2 twice and gave all bloom nutrition......pH 6.0/EC 2.2. Since my humidifier is taking care for my clones, rh in my shack is higher than my tent likes.......... had to build a kind of a greenhouse around them😄 not beautiful but very rare😅 but does the job good enough!

foxbberg Day 57 pH doesn't raise anymore....... it rather drops. Gave some soda to get it back to over 6.0, but will have to buy some proper pH+. The ladies start to produce trichomes and a heavy smell. Day 58-60 Though climate is relatively mild in the tent (-0.8 kPa😔 ) the ladies keep drinkin' like crazy........ i keep defoliating and cutting out small and weak shoots. by the way....... most of the clones i took from the ladies are still alive. 3 out of four of those i put into soil........ some of those i put into water didn't make it as well....... Day 61-63 Now, with pH controlled, i see them ladies looking a bit greener…… as soon as they start to Takelung more nutrients out of the solution, i’ll try to set everything to ’close-to-Tip-burn‘.

foxbberg Day 78 everything fine so far...... still fighting low pH (drops from 6.5 to 5.5 within 12 hours) and low VPD (roughly about 1.0) but appart from that no sweat at all. First hairs turn brown and a tiny bit of tipburn every here and there........ Day 82 changed water - left away ALL ESSENTIALS and SILICATE-BOOST since it's becoming autum now .......wanna 'clean-up' a little so i can steer dry-backs a little more precise. ....talkin' 'bout dry-backs: Since the ladies dipped their toes in the water-basins, this will rather be a kinda low-tide-scenario😏 Day 83 cut out some leafs...... corrected pH Day 84 corrected pH the ladies look good and still produce mass. Riper buds are dense. Plans for the next week(s): tomorrow i'll try to let them dry back a little...... instead of 2 minutes (~2L) every 2 hours, they'll get 2 minuntes in the morning and 2 minutes in the afternoon. Depending on what effects they show, i'll decide wether more ore less pumping is helpful. Cutting off all the leafs that make contact to other leafs or buds, will hopefully keep out budrott and mildew. Depending on how the ladies develop, i'll feed them with low EC or water only next time. When they're ready to go i'll let them dry out......ince there are so many roots in the reservoirs, this may take a couple of days......... stay tuned....:-)!

foxbberg Day 92 Buds getting really frosty now! Ladies No. 2&3 are showing visible signs of autumn...... yellowish spots and leafs. They all keep producing white hair but seem to come to an end now. Trichomes are mostly clear.....some start getting milky. Day 93 Changed water and rinsed out tanks........... reduced food to EC 1.5 the old water looked like crap........kicked this Biobizz pH up stuff right into my dumpster!!!! This useles funky smellin' ugly sip of Bouillabaise doesn't do anything for my nutrient solution but makin' it stink and look like 💩!!!! What it does is kickin' up the EC...... why not call it EC up? While the pH dropped back in a few minutes, the EC would rise with any treatment and stay as high forever........ Plans: Will do another one or two dry-backs this week. As soon as more trichomes become milky, i'll start feeding clear water.........

foxbberg Day 106 they could have easily spent another two or three weeks in nutrient solution, now that the tent is not so packed anymore....... but i won'tgo back and let them finish now. Hopefully there will be a good number of milky trichomes, when i go for the harvest........ the buds i cut yet carry rather clear trichomes.

Exciting start, how long are you gonna veg? I am sure these will take off soon!

@UnorthadoxDude, this is my first try in this kinda hydro-culture....... hopefully about 4 weeks or less. Goal is filling a scrog-net of 90 x 90 cm up to about 80% before flipping THX M8!

@UnorthadoxDude, Now i had them in veg for 34 day's....... if it wasn't for my very owm idea of a 'perfect scrog' with all that bending, trimming, cutting, some could have flipped them at day 28 easily and still have huge, healthy plants...... hope that helps🙏
