InsideAz Spring 2026 Grow
This is my 2nd grow with the free seeds received from the Dirty Bird favorite photo contest. If y'all ever read this I am still so grateful and happy to be blessed with these seeds. Can’t wait for another grow with genetic that have changed my home growing game. 2nd time growing the lovers moon which was the seed that won the contest and opened my eyes to my favorite seed producers so far. Also 2nd time growing the Sinmint cookies which impressed me in the last grow and is one of my go to strains when it’s time to wind down at night. High quality and high potency genetics, wish me luck! (:
Germination (paper towel) : 2/21
Plant on soil: 2/23
Sprout from soil: 2/25
*Sinmint cookies is 2-4 days behind the rest bc of failure with a Barneys Farm (Kush mintz) during original germination*
Soil mixture was done in bulk
5 gallon pots each plant
Soil mixture: (30 gallons ish total material)
60% FoxFarm Happy frog soil
40% Fox Farm Ocean forest soil
15-20% Wiggle Worm Earth Worm Castings
2.6 tablespoons/gallon Gaia Green 444 total of 80
1.3 tablespoons/gallon Gaia Green 284 total of 40
This living soils mixture should make things easy but providing plenty of readily available and slow release nutrients as the plants grow into these pots.
Tap Water is dechlorinated for 24-48 hours and ph to 6.0-7.0 using citric acid before use.
Temperature during the week was maintained 72-75f and 50-70% rh
There is a 6” filter in use that get cleaned every few weeks and replaced every grow or 2. Portable ac and swamp cooler used to control vpd which is assisted by the auto controller the spider farmer tent.

just water when dry (about 48 hours)
Easy first week for these girls, all plants continues their grown and began pushing out their 3 leaf nodes. Bread ties are used to keep them from toppling over which usually happens during week 1 or 2 because of the top growth heaviest compared to the main cola. Only had 2 plants have issues with this (Trop Cherry R1 & Lovers Moon).
Light was increased gradually from 20-30% through the week
Temperatures maintained 73-75f and 50-65% rh
Dechlorinated water for 24-48 hours and ph between 6.3-6.9 using citric acid.
Been having trouble with gnats since day one, my guess is they were rooted in the soil I bought and in the future I will be playing around with the idea of “cleaning” my soil before use by running boiled water in it. For this grow I hope to maintain/ resolve the issue and will be finding other solutions like neem oil or fumigation.
This grow will be a shorter veg than my typical 8-10 week veg cycle. Only running them for 6 weeks, mainly focusing on light penetration. 5 more weeks to go.

Very 2nd week complete! The plants have doubled in size and started producing offshoots from the main cola already.
Leaving them alone for the most part. Spray system installed this week for ease of watering. I still manually PH the dechlorinated water before watering.
Light intensity gradually increasing from 30-37%ish
Light twisting of the main cola later in the week

Another easy week for the plants! Still being fed from their original soil mixture as the roots extend.
Plants are about double in size and thickness again with longer branches breaking off of the main cola.
All plants had 2 days with a bit of low stress training this week. Just twisting main cola to promote strength at the base. Plants bounced back nicely.
Light intensity increased gradually throughout week. Somewhere are 42% light intensity by end of week.
Water chlorinated and ph between 6.5-6.8 usong citric acid. Watering is every other day or every 2 days.
Nice week will be similar with the training but will need to focus on tucking fan leaves for more optimal light penetration. No need to trim them up yet. Probably will get a top dress or tea in the next week or 2 for nutrient support before flipping to flower

Finishing up week 4 with some impressive growth over the past week. Most plants have responded well to the continuous lst (main cola twisting) and leaf tucking, producing thicker and sturdier stems that are still pliable (:
Defoliated for the 1st time on 2/29 along with more low stress training. Also my most aggressive training yet
Photos per strain before and after the defoliation
Light intensity was increased to about 47%+-
Environment is 72-75f and 55-65%rh
Water dechlorinated for 24-48hours and ph to 6.5-6.8 using citric acid

*TESTING A NATURAL SOLUTION FOR PESTS*
Been having issues with gnats since day 1. The assumption is it came from my soil which was not cleaned before use (my bad). Also saw a small spider in there and a baby moth at one point. It’s hot in Arizona and it’s not uncommon to find these things hiding in the house or getting tracked in despite cleaning efforts. Either way, I’m using Rosemary and Eucalyptus essential oils in a humidifier inside the tent. Humidifier is auto set to 60% so the tent gets multiple fragrance fogs per day to deter pest. Going well within 2 days of use, will update next week.

This week took a bit more work. Defoliation performed serveral times the week. Installed the trellis net a little preemptively, but most plants should be able to grow into it.
Was running low on Earth Worm Casting so I had to spread it pretty thin on the top dressing
Top dress given early on in the week:(each pot)

10 ish tablespoons Wiggle Worm Earth Worm Castings

Got too busy these last couple weeks to update.
Mainly left them alone until, just watering when dry and moving branches around for light penetration
Major defoliation 5/12 and 5/19
5/19-4/26 (1st week of flower)
The plants have blasted through the first week of flower with some (Lovers Moon, Pine Tree Kush, Sour Lime Haze) getting way taller than expected. Threw some lst clips on the main cola tops on those plants to slow them down a bit while the rest of the plant stretches.
Another major defoliation on 4/26.
Lights been gradually increased to about 60-70% over the last 4 weeks
Water every other day 5 gallons for 6 plants
Dechlorinated and ph to 6.0-6.9 using citric acid
Top dress 4/26 (each 5 gallon pot)
20-30 tablespoons earth Worm Castings

Easy week just did some defoliation again towards the end of the week. Plants seem to be happy with their recent top dressing and Im happy to say we’re going into flower strong. By this point I hope they are done stretching, a couple plants (Lovers Moon and Pine Tree Kush) don’t play well with others, as they are overshadowing and bumping into their neighbors. Doing my best to allow good light penetration and airflow. Trust me when I say it’s organized chaos in this tent. From a top view it looks like a jungle but the side view showcases the light penetration (as good as I can get it without stressin)
Currently there is 9 fans throughout this tent moving air around along with an external hose attached to and venting in air from another fan that blows fresh air into the grow room… also a portable ac unit in the room. Not all fans are set to high but the airflow is essential, I made a rookie mistake early in this grow (week 5ish) where I didn’t have fans blowing under my canopy and the top layer of soil started to mold. I was able to remove all the tainted top layer of soil before it became an issue.
Light slowly increased to about 70%

The buds are starting to look like real buds instead of cluster balls so I figured it was time for an update. Been a chill couple of weeks just increasing light (barely-80%), taking off leaves and adjusting fans.
The girls haven’t been fed since 4/26 after the first week of flower. I’ve just been watering every other day which is when most of them get dry with the usual dechlorinated water ph between 6.5-6.9 using citric acid. Sometimes I’m right on time and sometimes the fan leaves are drooping a bit on the bigger plants (that require more water obviously). Tea was given 5/20 ingredients below
Because of this I maintain a decent moisture level in the soil and have developed a pretty extensive gnat problem. The worst I’ve had so far. This week and next I’ll be applying food grade organic diatomaceous earth to try and combat these little mfs. I’ll keep whoever is reading this whole thing updated on how that goes haha.
Tea given on 5/20
Tea: brewed for 24 hours
5 gallons dechlorinated water
25 ounces (Folgers can) Wiggle Worm Earth Worm Castings
3 tablespoons Gaia Green Rock Phosphate
3 tablespoons Down To Earth Kelp Meal
3 Tablespoons Down To Earth Alfalfa meal
3 tablespoons Wholesome Unsulphured Organic Black Strap Molasses
Photos are from 5/18 beginning of week 5 in flower. A lot of color change happening later in the week
Unfortunate update:5/21
The Sinmint cookies started growing seeds and hermaphing, it’s the one closer to the zipper on the tent which I leave cracked for airflow. The sun has been going down later and that room gets a bit of sunlight past it’s normal sleep time so it’s my bad. Was growing beautiful buds too but I couldn’t risk it tainting the other plants. Had to cut it down carefully to avoid pollen getting all over the place. It’s are and fans were cleaned

Sorry for long breaks in between, I’m a busy guy but will always make time to update these diaries in such a way that is easily understandable of what’s going on with Full transparency of ingredients and methods used.
So after week 5’s fiasco of the Sinmint Cookies hermaphroditism I did a follow up check on the plants during week 6. Seems as though some of the Bad Apple, Trop Cherry and I suspect Sour Lime Haze have developed some seeds. Trop Cherry and Bad Apple getting the worst of it. The buds look amazing still and they ARE NOT growing pollen sacks so they get to stay. I did notice one on the bad apple which was quickly plucked with a wet napkin. No problems in 2 weeks since then. Weirdly enough the Pine Tree kush, my problem child’s direct neighbor isn’t displaying any seed development.
Plants were top dressed one last time middle of week six. Below is the mixture per pot
5 tablespoons Gaia Green 284
4-5 tablespoons Gaia Green 444
Very little Earth Worm castings as they were given in the tea recently.
Lights have been increased to around 80% for the last bit of flower
Water ever other day with dechlorinated water Ph to 6.5-6.8 using citric acid
Temp is getting hotter but still within the vpd range for flower. About 78f and 40-50%rh
*Updated in the bugs!!!*
I never got around to using the diatomaceous earth.
In the past I’ve noticed significant decrease in fungal gnats after giving my teas. Even though everything on the internet says not to give gnats molasses’s bc the love it, I think the thickness of the molasses combined with the amount of earth worm castings have a compound effect on the gnats. Where the molasses in the soil slows reproduction and maybe stunts the new bugs as they emerge from the eggs. I believe the earth worm castings creates such a thick layer on top of the soil when it gets dry it hardness too much for the flyers to get through. It’s just a theory but has given me consistent results since my first ever teas. Food for thought. But yeah I never had to use the diatomaceous earth, bugs were eradicated 100%.
If you read all this check back next week I’ll have some beautiful flower photos for their week 8 of flower diary. Need to wrap the plants up soon as I have a vacation towards the end of this month and need time for drying and (ideally) a week to settle the buds Into their burping jars
Amazing outcome as usual, I love growing this plant and am sad to say this was my last seed. Flowers finished up solid purple with dark black/purple leaves.. nicely spaced nodes without overshadowing foliage. Very easy to maintain and th effects are phenomenal. This strain was my first introduction to Dirty Bird Seeds, who continue to impress me.

InsideAz Finishing up this beauty with nearly 100% trichome cloudiness and this plant having a little amber development. She’s ready to go
First time with this strain, still have 2 more seeds.
Very impressive plant with interesting looking flowers. Insanely frosty, this plant ended up being pretty short while other around it overshadowed it. With that knowledge I hope to space it out or put it next to a small plant and provide better light penetration on the next grow. Also I had some seed growth that I suspect was transferred from the Sinmint cookies before I took it out of the tent. Plant did amazing, even though I could’ve done a lot better. Taking notes in this one and carrying it into the next grow

Finishing out the last week a little rushed, plant started really showing its fading this last week. Trichomes are mostly all cloudy and she looks ready it’s just a few days earlier than I would typically hope for…but I’m in a rush to process before a vacation so full trichome cloudiness will have to do. Can only hope it’s flushed enough.
As stated before this one had seeds on once side that are very noticeable but I’m hopeful to salvage a lot of these buds.
Wow, this plant grows big and tall and strong like a pine tree. The tallest plant on the tent and didn’t have a single branch fall over. That’s not to say it’s not producing, the buds are thick and purposeful on this girl. Not a lot of larf buds. Very frosty, and I enjoyed watching the final fade on the plant. Leaves went from solid green to pink and then purple but maintain a solid green stripe down the center vein of the fan leaf. It’s got some spunk, high excitement for this high producer. Will go with my tall growers in the future. Probably would be insane outdoors.

Finishing out the last week strong. Trichomes are FULLY cloudy 100%. Excreted to harvest these buds at peak potency with little larf. Trimming is going to be a pain. But dang, she looks good. She should win awards haha (:
The plant honestly was finicky, I think it was my fault. It was stressed from defoliation and not getting enough light penetration a lot of days so it just became straggly. Once the environment was correct just before flower it started growing nicely with beautiful buds. But the cramped space definitely didn’t let this girl reach her full potential. Good genetics I’d say and I’ll try again and be more mindful. The buds look dense and frosty despite my shortcomings. There is some seeds but again that ones on me, I think the takeaway from this is the genetics resistance to mistakes and how it continued to grow so good buds, although few bud site because of the environment.

Finally putting this girl to rest this weekend. Trichomes are mostly cloudy and the fade has progressed nicely this week. Could go a few more days but I’m on a tight schedule this grow. Happy with the outcome even with my neglect on this plant this grow
Strong and Sturdy plant forsure. She grows tall and with beefy buds. The foliage is a problem on this girl and must be kept up with or it will not grow proper all. Some points I thought I was taking off way too much foliage abut it otherwise would’ve been shadowing the entire inner plants. The plant responded well to the attention and grew some fatties. I’m harvesting a bit early with the rest of my plants. Probably could go another week or2 for a nice fade out and full mature imo. It acts more like a sativa plant so the extra weeks on flower could probably benefit it but I just don’t have the time this grow. Good frost production but nothing to boast about. I think this plant would thrive best outdoors or in the hands of someone with more time to take care of the foliation more tentatively. I don’t mind learning and doing the things necessary for a plant to be healthy but much rather prefer easy going indica hybrids that don’t overshadow themselves daily

Just starting fading out more this week, I hope it’s close to being done…there’s asome big ol fatties on these branches. Strong branches though
It was going so good and then I made it hermaf because of light leaking at “night”. My bad, Will be going for this again check out the earlier pictures it was frosty ash. Kind of shorter than I expected. Really had high hopes for this plant and enjoyed its sister plant cherry Pie r1 so I’m not giving up

InsideAz I threw it away weeks ago to prevent seed spread. It only kind of worked. Luckily because it was shorter than most other plants the pollen sacks were developing well below bud sites on other plants
@InsideAz, appreciate your feedback. Yeah have already looked at this option, but I’m located in Europe and not allowed to order this seeds from overseas
