Scrambled to purchase seeds locally after online order of one Royal Jack Auto seed failed to germinate. Growing outdoors at latitude 53 so timing relative to last frost day and summer solstice is crucial.
This is the last of the plants to get started. Also growing Polar Express, Pineapple Chunk and Girl Scout Cookies. All outdoor in soil.
Seems to be doing okay after being topped. Started later than other plants.
Still using molasses and Natures Source. June was cool and rainy but plants are doing fine and well timed wrt frost and solstice. 😎
Gaining some height this week with flowering starting. Same nutes as other plants (molasses, Nature’s Source, calcium citrate, pHed water).
Lots of rain and cool weather this summer but plant still seems happy.
Updated: try to get my day and week count to match up better. Gained 5 inches in six days (now 23 in).
Added Epsom salts to fertilizer concoction one day this week and all four plants loved it.
Gaining some height. topping seems to have worked and there are now four evenly sized colas.
I think the cold nights here must slow down the metabolism of these autoflowers a bit. Long sunlight hours here (53N) make a big difference too. AnywAy the combination of toppping, low temps, and long hours of daylight work well together. I think all of my plants are taller than advertised....and we’ll see how they yield. 🤠
Cool rainy and humid. Where is summer? I’ve got buds to ripen.
Trimmed lower canopy on July 20 to improve airflow.
Stretch happening as it has gained about an inch a day lately. A couple hot days got things going again. 🤠 Day 59 now 35 inches (89 cm) despite being topped.
Day 61 used Big Bud for first time after I decided I needed a different bloom nute.
First week using Big Bud. See Week 12 comment in my GSC diary. The colas stretched noticeably the day after the first round of BB.
Day 74 still going with Big Bud, molasses and pHed water. Harvested main colas on GSC and PE today but this plant was started later and needs more time.
Still flowering...Big Bud, molasses and pHed water.
Looking good.
Day 86 applied a bit of soluble seaweed extract as a foliar spray mostly to provide K. Gaiagreen soluble seaweed extract in 300 g container should last a long time as only 1/4 tsp in 1L is used for a foliar spray. Not necessary for this plant but GSC needed it and this plant got some too.
Plants were watered while I was away, but no photos.
Day 95 applied Gaia Green soluble seaweed extract as a foliar spray. Returned four hours later and colours had changed a lot. Now has some great purple to go with usual ‘fall colours’ 🤠
Day 96 decide to do partial harvest to deal with what looks like mildew on the stems. Same problem on the GSC plant. Harvested 68 g wet trimmed buds today (Aug 27).
Colours are pretty great likely because we’ve had some cool nights here lately down to 3-4 C and then back up to around 20 C during the day.
Super easy and beautiful colours with the low overnight temps. Nice choice as a resilient and easy to grow plant that works well outdoors.
There is a great lavender or floral smell in the curing jar, and the smoke tastes great. Medium strength smoke with nice relaxing effect. Nice plant for backyard or stealth grows. Highly recommended. 😎
Could have gone longer but there was some bud rot happening due to the cool and humid weather which isn’t getting any better soon. Had to harvest, but it still looks like a pretty good yield.
This is my first attempt at an outdoor grow and I’m treating them much like my tomatoes and hot peppers. So, yes 10 C or lower (3C one nigh recently) can slow things down even when the days are in the 20s, but I figure with the allowed four legal plants here in Canada I don’t have to sweat it too much. I could bring them in, but it would pretty much have to be frost before I’d do it.
The plants are going good now, just at the solstice, and everything is on schedule.
I checked out your NL page...looks very good. I’ll be interested to see the difference with what I end up with. Should be similar but your seeds are RQS and mine are Crop King.
@CoastGrower, I think I’ll make a point of keeping the plants off the grass overnight. I’ve had mould in the garden on regular flowers in previous years. I never realized how humid it can be here in the summer.
For the Morning sun plants are on the concrete anyway so that helps me remember to do it each day. 😎
@Northern_Ent, RH goes above 80 gor a couple hours during nights here..
It was the first time ever that I had mildew in
My life. But after the h202 wash it doesn’t seem to be infected anymore, it’s drying nicely without any mildew yaay :)
Yeah my new plant is growing faster :) now let’s hope it stays healthy!
Thanks for stopping by!
Germinated seeds using Crop King’s recommended paper towel method. Apparently I wasn’t keeping the towels moist enough here in our dry climate. Slow to pop, but finally got 4 of 5 to go.
Planted germinated seeds directly into soil on May 23, but not up as of May 26. Hopefully I didn’t stick them in too deep but I think I did over-water them a bit today.
@Cannibalgardens, ha ha. Winters are usually not all that bad here but last February was brutal. Our summers are usually pretty great but this one was pretty cool and humid.
@@ShotGunBob, thanks. I was thinking in that range. With an outdoor northern latitude grow, I will be at or near the top yield on Growdiaries for all four of my plants. Not expected but pretty awesome. 🤠
I can say she is looking good brother I live in southern Ontario so cheers to Canadian growers . She gonna get tall with the stretch gonna follow along and see how she goes .
@Cannibalgardens, thanks, eh? The Canadians are fairly easy to spot when they’re doing outdoor grows. Four plants and cool overnight temps 😎🇨🇦 I’m so stoked at the size of all four of my plants. I’m pretty sure I’ll be giving some away so I can have the fun of growing four different strains next year.
@Cannibalgardens, thanks, eh? This is the youngest of the four I’ve got going and was the reliable insurance plant in case the other ones crapped out for some reason.
She’s growing fast! Do you leave her outside during nighttime? 10C is cold and can slow her growth. My NL is at week 10 you can check my diary if you want, I’m also doing LST.
Good luck buddy! 👍✌️
