BrediniGreeny Hey everyone, welcome back to Balcony Garden 2.0! 🌱
I’m really excited to share this new growing journey with you. As always, I’m starting my little plants indoors before moving them outdoors onto my balcony in containers. This season, I’m trying something new—a small solar-powered drip irrigation system from Rainpoint, which should make things a lot easier.
I’ve stocked up on a ton of supplies from Biotabs NL: long-term fertilizers like Guerilla Tabs and other products, also silica, and a microbial starter. I also have Bio PK and plenty of guano from GuanoCalong to give the plants a strong start.
For the soil, I’m using BioBizz Light Mix, perlite, and BioBizz Worm Humus to make a perfect base for healthy growth.
Since I don’t have that many containers yet, I started a lot of seeds in coco pucks and even tried the paper towel germination method for extra backup. Some of these seedlings are already showing great progress, and you can see how they’re coming along in the photos.
Stay tuned, because this is just the beginning! Let’s grow together and make Balcony Garden 2.0 thrive. 🌿

BrediniGreeny Growth😍😍 Exciting news—my new Rainpoint water drip system has finally arrived!
It comes with a small solar panel and a battery, and it can support up to 15 plants. I can’t wait to get it fully running once the weather warms up. The system will mainly water my taller plants automatically, while I’ll still do a bit of hand watering when needed, adding Calmag or other supplements.
I’m using a 150-liter water tank to feed the drip system. For containers, I have 15 high-format textile pots from Rooties, each around 28 cm in diameter and 50 cm tall. Some of these will be lined along the balcony railing, and I plan to grow a mix of vegetables and herbs there. Between the bigger pots, I’ll interplant herbs like basil, rosemary, and thyme and on the end sides some salads and the flowers to create a lush, productive balcony.
The Plants & Plans:
For the upcoming season, I have a mix of tried-and-true favorites and some new experiments. I plan to grow:
Tomatoes and peppers – around 3–4 of each on the drip system.
Salads and radishes – lots of these, grown in smaller containers or interplanted between bigger pots.
Sweet potato vine – the potato has been soaking in water for two days in a dark spot; fingers crossed it sprouts well!
Kiwi seedlings – I’ve started four from seed, and they’re doing really well. I hope to grow at least one kiwi vine.
Flowers and herbs – chamomile, marigold, edible flowers, and capucine cress (Tropaeolum majus nanum).
I’ll be combining slow-release fertilizers from BioTabs NL in the pots with occasional hand watering as needed.
The goal is to create a balanced mix of vegetables, herbs, and flowers, all thriving together on the balcony.
Stay tuned for more updates as these plants grow, and follow along on the Balcony Garden 2.0 journey. 🌿
