poloq _Germination
Germinated the seeds by putting them into a glass of water (21h). [I do at least 12 hours to soak them, but prefer 24 h, so I can already see which ones are 'foul'/ not sinking]. All pictures have been taken within 24 h - the whole germination process (untik every plant broke the surface) took about 12 days, so veg. starts at day 13.
_Setup
Have some cling film over the setup to increase the RH to at least 80% + temp. to at least 18°C, better 22 - 24°C. I decided to put just 8 beans in the pot, so that I can space them out a little easier + I have 2 seeds I can experiment with/ put them in smaler pots and move them around.
____________About this Grow____________
Basically a Windowsill-Grow with Living Soil + Light.
_Gentics
I germinated 10 seeds Northern Lights (Bag Seeds). I expect at leat 8 to germinate, so 4 should be female. With this I assure that I'll have at least 2 - 3 healthy, female plants.
_General
This grow is rather a 'I want a nice plant in my room'-Grow, then one that is focused on perfect results. I just support the plants with light whenever they would get to little (cloudy etc.) and because I just happen to have a lamp that I would not use otherwise.
Most stuff used is left from my last grow (Lamp, Living Soil) - I just rejuvinated the living soil by stiring it up and adding more airation. [DON'T do this in most cases - I had to because my soil was way to dense]
I won't be too precise with everything I do (and document) since everything is more of a 'let's see' type of a approach and will be changed all the time.
____________Lessons Learned____________
I can already tell: I used to little light in my last run (Mimosa Cake + Gorilla Z). The plants grow much more vigerously with more intensity right off the start. But an even bigger impact comes from the density of the soil in my optinion, because there is no cellular damge e.g. whatsoever.
The phenotypes in Northern Lights seem to be: Sativa-leaning, Indica-leaning and a Hybrid. The Sativa-leaning one has the strongest smell (while in veg.), the Indica-one the thickest general structure, but seems to focus all its energy in the main shoot (even after topping, the 2 highest shoots are by far the strongest). This one also seems to need more (stability in regard of) nutrients.

9/10 look healthy - the one in the plastic container has a mutation, but grows fastest tbf. 1/10 has yellow tips on its cotyledons.
_Setup
Yes, they need more light - but thats all I can (willingly) provide.
poloq _Plants
I can definitly identify 2 phenotypes already: A more indica-leaning one and one that has more of that thai-sativa. Hopefully I will get 2 girls with the corresponding properties (hash-like vs. fruity).
... the sativa leaning phenos actually already have a quite strong and creamy smell (for their size) - the others none at all.
_(Pre-)flower
I will wait up to another month so that I can observe preflower and cut down the males (which will be used as top dressing).
_Setup
I exchanged the pots for the 2 plants in smaller containers (mutated plants often grow a lot slower, so I didn't want to 'waste' time on a plant that's most likely not going to grow as well). The healthier one (including container) then got placed at their final destination (can be seen in week 4).

Since side shoots began to form, I decided to top the plants. I did this just past the third node (excluding the cotyledons) and removed the side shoots from the first node, as in my experience that first 'true' node is always slightly weaker than the subsequent ones.
This week, the differences in the phenotypes also became clearly apparent.

We got a first taste of summer here in the area, with temperatures reaching 25 °C during the day. That is why both the rise in temperature and the drop in relative humidity are so pronounced (but perfect honestly).
__Plants
They're getting pretty leggy right now, but I guess that's because I'm using very little light for so many plants and don't have any reflective surfaces around them (at least not to the extent that a tent would provide).
_Setup
I'm going to reposition the lamp, since it's shining on the plants at a slight angle, which further accentuates the difference in height that already exists due to the different phenotypes.

The temp. dropped significantly again (from 25 to about 10°C) - and we got a lot of rain, but they are still growing fine right now.
_Setup
I repositioned the light, so that it hits more directly from the top and spreads more evenly.

I water irregularly, about 3 - 5 l every 3 - 5 days. I also got a little buddy!
Besides that, not much to say.

The temp. and RH fluctuated a lot this week - from 19 - 26°C / 33 - 70%.
_Plants
The plants start to show their first deficiencies:
1) (Yellow Tips) Seems like a slight imbalance in the nutrient availability (which is to be expected in living soil).
2) (Brown Spots) Might be due to too little oxygen in the soil (exactly the same pattern I got last run with soil that was VERY dense).
3) (Necrotic Spots) Seems like it's just because the soil dried out a little too much (typical pattern from the cells collapsing under too little cellular pressure).
4) The lowest leaves start to fade (also expected in living soil/ the plants need to manage the nutrients themselves).
Besides that, they grow vigorously and start to develop a pretty beautiful color.
_Preflower
The very first one (the strongest one) got its first female traits!
_Setup
I let the plants grow towards the lamp more, so that it might counter the stretching a little.

The amount of water I give has easily doubled - to about 5 l every 2 - 3 days. Super excited for the little jumping spider.
At the end of this week, I decied to rotate the whole pot by 180°. The reason being, that the wall relfects light + the window bringing in light, so that one side gets more and grew stronger. Should even out the canopy.
_Preflower
Now it's 2 girls (but sadly right next to each other).
_Plants
I definitely need to thin out the plants. Right now, each plant basically has only its two main shoots. The two additional side shoots on each plant are underdeveloped due to the lack of light, so I’ll probably remove some of them.
The cell damage to the lower leaves is increasingly evident as a result of a combination of an excessively dry period, low light intensity, and a lack of nutrients.
