Misfitgrower I am very excited to start this project. Started two Original Haze seeds from Authentic Genetics on 3/24 and both seeds popped by 3/26 transferred to Rapid Rooter plugs 3/27 and both pushed to the surface 3/28 which I am counting as Day 1.

Misfitgrower I was planning on going to dwc with these but then I decided it would get too large and was going to do them outdoors but I am in coastal Oregon and they would never finish before the fall rains so I have settled on small pots to keep them manageable for the long duration of the grow. They are currently in 1 gal’ish pots and I will probably goto 3 gal pots to keep them small. I am also toying with the idea of sticking a cut outside just to see how it does 🤔 They went a while without food while I was being indecisive so they yellowed a bit but are recovering well.

Misfitgrower They were both transplanted to their final pot this week. The roots looked really good and vigorous for only a couple weeks in. The plants started off looking completely different but they now look pretty much like twins. They transplanted really well and I didn’t notice any shock, so far. As soon as I can get a cut off each I will flip them.

Misfitgrower Space finally opened up, so the Haze plants are officially in their long-term homes: 3-gallon pots with a coco and perlite mix. Haze 2 looked great initially but hit a brief patch of transplant shock. Thankfully, she has fully bounced back. Interestingly, she threw out double branches from the first node, but her growth returned to normal branching by the third. Haze 1, on the other hand, is much bushier. I’ve taken clones and flipped the tent to flower. The plants are currently sitting at 16 inches from the substrate line in a 2x4x6 tent. Given the legendary Haze stretch, I fully expect to have to relocate them before flower is over. Environmentally, I’m running a 4” exhaust but have a 6” on standby in case temps spike. Right now, with the lights only pushing 55% to hit around 800 PAR, heat is completely manageable. I also set up a timelapse with my Wyze cam, which I’ll share in the next update if it works out.

Misfitgrower Haze 1 presented as male and was promptly culled from the room, leaving Haze 2 as a confirmed female. With the open space, Skunk #1 has been moved in alongside her. It's a solid lineup to have two foundational genetic legends growing side-by-side. The Haze stretch is also living up to its reputation. The vertical growth has been aggressive, with the plants more than doubling in size, jumping from 16 inches to 34 inches. Additionally, I've observed that both the Haze 2 and Skunk 2 plants are consistently going into shock for a full day after watering. I am certain this is due to the water temperature being too low. Moving forward, I will be upping the water temp from 64°F to 72°F to eliminate the stress response.

Misfitgrower The timelaps for this week failed as is usually the case with Wyze cams. I also had to move to a taller tent. She grew a foot this week to 49” from dirt. The male plant started dropping pollen so I dusted 1 branch to boost my seed supply. The male is in a separate building to save the pollen for future projects. Other than that nothing new. She is a very easy plant to grow so far. I can see problems down the road though. She is very talll and lanky, of course, and I am not used to growing sativa. I will need to setup some sort of support structure when the buds start fattening up. I did have her under fairly strong air movement to try and thicken the branches but I do not think it is in her nature.

Misfitgrower Week 6 and she is doing great. I left town for the weekend and everyone got a bit dry and lower leaves got a little yellow but bounced back after a watering/feeding. Her growth has slowed but that may be due to the dryer soil this week. The smells kicked in strong this week. She has a very distinct smell. It is almost like a fruity floral with a hint of skunk. It is pleasant and unique. The male and female plants looked structurally identical. I chopped the male after grabbing some pollen and they were a mirror of each other than the obvious m/f and the male was more purple. Not a lot but a slight bit. Almost a violet tint to him. This strain wants to grow! I gave her a short veg, medium nutrients and a small 3gal pot and she is still going to hit at least 6ft. For comparison skunk #1 in the exact same conditions side by side is between 2 and 3 ft. She cloned very easy and I am putting the clone outside. There is a 0% she will make it to harvest but I am too curious about how big she will get to not let her have a go.

Misfitgrower I measured wrong last week, she was at 54” not 59”. This week she is at 55” so she is moving into the fattening up phase. She looks a bit yellow in the pics but that is because of the yellow lids I am using for water pans. 50% of her height is from the center cola so if you are looking for max production I would say topping is a must. Her smell has lessened a bit and currently has a bit of a Grapefruit/skunk smell.
