I tried something new (to me) to start her off this time. I placed the seed directly in her final pot, watered her and left it to germinate in the tent. At least 4 days later and no sprout so I dug her out. The seed had popped open, a small taproot had sprouted then stopped.
I then used the damp sponge method and 24h later massive root progress! This method has been 100% successful since I've adopted it. This test here just confirmed it again.
She was then planted in her 38 litre airpot.
------
Damp sponge method:
Get some natural sponge and slice it in half.
Soak each piece in warm water then wring it out.
Place your seed inside the two sponge halves.
Place these into a close fitting airtight container.
The CRITICAL thing now is to keep it at 25.5 degrees Celsius + - 1 degree!!!!!
Germination usually takes 24h to see a nice taproot.
I've been noticing very slow progress over the last 2 weeks. Decided to make 3 changes during the week. The first 4 pictures are 'weekday 2'
Changes made on 'weekday 5'
The final 4 pictures are taken 2 days after changes on weekday 7.
Changes made:
4x blurple LED's added. I discarded these a while back. I'm wondering if my 3500k cobs are just not blue enough for a decent veg.
Temperature increased from 25c to 27c
8x Cree CXB3590 turned down to a little over minimum.
+20cm vertical height change this week. Flowering stretch slowing down. That's bad news for me after her first 3 weeks being very slow growing. I missed the window for good veg growth by (I think...) low temps in the tent. As a very small plant cold roots stunts growth. Being an auto you cannot extend the veg period so I'm stuck with her being a very small plant.
Nutrients as above added to 10L water along with 5g of 20-20-20 powdered fertiliser.
Still... if we're always learning nothing is lost. Just data in the memory bank.
She's done. Her trichomes are going milky. I want to harvest her earlier rather than later to get the 'high' trippy effect as opposed to the couchlock when there are amber trichomes present.
This was not the result I wanted. Mistakes have been made and lessons learned. My soil was depleted. Simple solution to renew the soil to fix the problem. This will be addressed in the future when I revisit this strain. Apologies to fastbuds, I'm sure this girl would have reached for the sky if I'd have used good soil for her.
So this grow was a failure for me...... Or was it? They say you learn more from your failures than successes! And in this case it is true. This plant did not grow much at all. The problems I had have been traced to poor soil. For future grows I will discard this soil and get some fresh.
@Dunk_Junk,
Ok I see and its interesting. Had a Mexican Airlines do exactly what you described though in this case the shell did something odd and was trying to strangle the germ. Removed the seed but couldn't get that root to grow no mater what I did, meh genetics who knows. This might have worked so may be trying it soon.
Your gonna love this lady especially if you went with an early harvest for a trippier feeling. Had to do it on when I grew this strain and was quite a trippy high. Had zero amber lol. Nice work. Keep doing what your doing and best of luck the rest of the way.
Lsd is a pretty good strain dunk, abit fussy in flower just be sure to give her lots of calmag. I got a huge update tomorrow so be sure to check out the girls. I havr 2 girls at my place in backyard and 2 girls at the farm. Will takr pictures for you to see tomorrow. Have a good one brother. :)
Ay, that’s a good looking plant! Nice open structure on her, and she’s flowering nicely gaining some colour there I can see! I’m interested to see how she turns out ✌️😁
The plant is building roots.
I cant see anything wrong with 3500k light spectrum, in fact its perfect for indoor.
The node spacing is very tight which just yells a lot of blue spectrum perhaps too much, my guess is you are looking for some stretching perhaps?
