LaechelndeAugen Nach 25 Jahren Pause wollte ich mal wieder einen kleinen Grow im Garten machen. Ich schieb gleich mal voraus, dass ich von dem ganzen Trara um das Growen nichts halte. Gegossen wird auch wenn der Mond nicht im Sternzeichen Widder steht, Handschuhe wird man bei mir nicht finden und meine Gartenschere wurde auch nicht in einem Vulkan geschmiedet. In diesem Sinne: Samen kamen in einer ansprechenden Verpackung an. Beim Öffnen hab ich natürlich gleich mal den Samen auf den Küchenboden fallen lassen. Nachdem ich mich 5 Minuten durch den Revovierungsdreck unter den Schränken gewühlt habe, hab ich ihn wieder gefunden und mit der bloßen Hand aufgehoben. Jiffy mit Wasser voll gemacht und den Samen mit einem Löffel, der gerade rumlag, reingedrückt. Von ChatGBT ein Etikett designen lassen, ausdrucken und ab durch den Laminierer. Anschliessend den Teller mit dem Jiffy auf einen Büroschrank gestellt und da darf er jetzt erst mal bleiben. Nach 3 Tagen war dann die Wurzel zu sehen, also ab in den ersten Topf. Ansonsten das übliche Rein-/Rausspiel, nachts ist es noch zu kalt, also drinnen bleiben und tagsüber dann raus die Sonne genießen. Nach 7 Tagen sieht alles fein aus bei 3,5 cm Höhe und ich bin gespannt auf nächste Woche.

LaechelndeAugen After both plants stopped growing, the rose soil seemed a bit too strong for the start, so I diluted the substrate with 50% seedling soil and a bit more perlite. Despite the bad weather and hardly any sunshine, it has reacted surprisingly positively so far. To get more nitrogen in, I helped it along with a bit of fertilizer.

LaechelndeAugen After the first roots grew out of the pot, it was time for repotting. Unfortunately, there was again some root loss due to crumbling soil. I hope for more sun in the coming days.

LaechelndeAugen Grows well despite high temperatures. Moved to partial shade when the leaves started to curl. Next week, it’s probably time for the mainlining. Since the potassium content seemed too high compared to nitrogen, I mixed horn shavings with seedling soil and spread it around the plant.

LaechelndeAugen It's growing and thriving, but I'm still not brave enough to top/mainline it. I also happened to find the reason why the other plant is struggling so much. A dark spot, barely bigger than a speck of dust, turned out to be a pest. Does anyone know what that is? There were also 2-3 on the Dos-Si-Dos, but it seems to handle it better somehow. Well, I'll spray it with neem oil tomorrow, maybe that will help the situation relax a bit.

LaechelndeAugen This weekend it was time, topped off. It then got put into a Jiffy, let's see if something comes of it. The "mother plant" is reacting well so far, the side shoots are coming. Unfortunately, I watered really heavily before topping and the weather was then damp and cool; you can see on the plant that it's getting a bit too much water and nitrogen right now. But it should be fine again in the next few days.

LaechelndeAugen The temperatures are rising and so is the plant's growth. Repotted at the beginning of this week, topped today. Due to the pre-fertilized rose soil, there won't be any additional nutrients for now, and the horn shavings are still in the soil. For pest prevention, I’m using neem oil every 3-5 days, depending on the need. Otherwise, the plant seems to be getting very bushy.

LaechelndeAugen Brutal heat last week. That's why I wrapped aluminum foil around the pots; they've gotten really hot. But the plant is handling the heat surprisingly well. The cutting has also rooted and is growing like a bonsai cannabis bush. Neem oil is still a must; today I caught a delicate grasshopper on a leaf😲

LaechelndeAugen The big heat wave has been survived for now. At the beginning of the week, I removed the large leaves that were covering the new shoots. My shock came yesterday afternoon when I saw dozens of little fungus gnats jumping around on the soil. I immediately ordered nematodes and treated the soil with yellow sticky traps and neem oil. That seems to have worked quite well; only a few have gone into the yellow traps, and nothing is crawling on the soil anymore. The seedling is hardly growing (maybe I topped it a bit early), and soon it will be time to repot, hopefully that helps.

LaechelndeAugen I have some concerns about the final size of the plant. It's crazy how much biomass it builds up. And the veg phase still has another month to go. And then the real stretch comes... yikes. But the cutting isn't really taking off ;) To avoid any more risk with fungus gnats, I'm adding neem oil to the watering.

LaechelndeAugen Still good growth. Nice weather, no pests, no deficiency symptoms. Over the weekend, I removed heavily shaded leaves and shoots from the lower area. I'm still watering with neem oil added. The seedling is still a bit weak.

LaechelndeAugen It's going on like last week. Just a slight feeding damage from thrips(?). The seedling is getting yellow after fertilizing, so it's not getting anything for now. I'm considering switching to organic fertilizers during flowering, but I'm not completely sure about it.

LaechelndeAugen It's slowly moving into pre-flowering. That's why there was a bit more extensive defoliation action in the middle of the week. I'm curious how much the stretch will be now. The seedling still looks a bit sickly, but it's just going to be dragged along until the bitter end. Since this week, I haven't been watering with neem oil anymore; the yellow stickers have to handle it on their own. Still hardly any pests.

LaechelndeAugen It's crazy how massive the plants are getting. Now it's almost daily watering. The first hairs are visible and the stretch is in full swing. Watering with 50/50 bloom fertilizer/growth fertilizer every 2-3 times. Negligible pest traces. Occasionally, I remove a leaf or a shoot from the inside to keep it airy.
