Went through a heatwave 6/9 - 6/11 Plants got a little stressed and twisted, everyone pulled through. 6/10/2019 - Installed 240W more LED. Run new panels at half for now. 6/11/2019 - Started using CalMag. 6/12/2019 - Site 1 plant shows signs of improved vitality, growing a very deformed set of true leafs. Plants looking better overall. 6/15/2019 - Switched out soda bottle accumulator with SodaStream bottles. Safely handles higher pressure, cap ensures better closure. Site 5 looks sad. Drooping, one yellowed leaf. Doesn't make sense, same nutrients as all other sites. Maybe underwatering, therefore nutrient deficient. Adjust nozzle angles for better coverage. Check back tomorrow 6/16/2019 - Site 1 starts putting roots into the chamber. Count 8. Strong showing! Site 5 perks up. Diagnosis looks to be correct. Plumbed in drainage pumps. Programming done, just need more flexible tubing. 6/17/2019 - Holy hell. Drove all over the city today looking for silicone tubing for drainage. 3 pet stores, 2 aquarium stores, 2 hardware stores and still no luck. Got some vinyl as a temporary fix and ordered silicone on Amazon. Drainage pumps run for about 15 seconds every ~1 hour. Also picked up a 6" X 24" Phresh Carbon Filter and some 3.5" net trellis that will come in handy in the next two weeks. Planning on upping nutrients by 10% tomorrow to ~700 PPM. Site 1 has dropped so many roots and is growing hairs, expecting explosive growth in the next days. 6/18/2019 - Pulled back on the nutrients to 550 PPM because I noticed some downward curled tips. Do not want to flush in an aeroponic system if I can avoid it. I topped 7 plants and FIM'd 1 that was just barely large enough. Tied down the fan leaves the largest two plants to open up the new growth sites. Plan to allow everything to grown a few nodes and top again, then SCRoG. Hopefully lower new growth foliage bulks in that time and I can sex these plants from trimmings.

6/20/2019 - Trans-potted solo cups to larger pots. Though they are not full, I should be able to sex them before they outgrow. Currently have them on the floor of the tent, trying to promote a little stretching. Re-worked some code to make timing more accurate. Running 1.75 seconds every 3.5 minutes. Drainage now running 15 seconds every 30 minutes. The noise still terrifies me, it sounds like something is going wrong in the pressurized system, but it's just a bucket with bubbles! I get a serious adrenaline rush every time I hear it from the couch. 6/21/2019 - Started 6/20/2019 treating reservoir with H2O2 at 3 ml/L. I can smell the difference in the chambers, much more neutral scent means less bacteria. Continued to defoliate and train as necessary. Recirculating nutrients, PPM on runoff is at ~510, plants are feeding and runoff PPMs are dropping about 40 points relative to reservoir each 12 hour cycle. Looking into adjusting accordingly.

6/24/2019 - Had last week off, back to work this week. It's crazy how much these plants grow in about twenty hours. Before work the tent is still dark, so I only get to see them after work. Lately, that first peep into the tent is staggering. The SCRoG net should go on soon- a second round of topping is around the corner. 6/25/2019 - Nothing really to report. Nutrient levels in drain-off are dropping more. Should look into how to interpret that. 6/26/2019 - I decided after plenty of observation, I missed my FIM. Going to have to do a normal top on sites 3 & 5, maybe I can get the FIM right on the next round. Site 4 new growth coming int more pale than usual. I think this has to do with the PPM delta between reservoir and drain-off. Building new nutrient solution in the morning, aiming for 700 - 725 PPM with a system purge and check. 6/27/2019 - Built a new nutrient solution. Results should speak for themselves, and aeroponics shows impact quickly so I'll know really soon if the plants like the high concentration of nutrients. I think I FIM'd my FIM on sites 3 & 5. Doing some research, probably top tomorrow. So far these two sites have shown no departure from singular apical dominance, so I think my assessment is correct. 6/28/2019 - Plants look good. Not seeing too much of a change yet from the new nutrients. More training to open up some branches. 6/29/2019 - These plants look GREAT! All six sites look happy and healthy. The 700 PPM nutrient solution worked out. May consider bumping it up 30 points next time, which will be soon because they are drinking so much now. Could maybe turn the lights up a little once site 1 is topped.

7/1/2019 - Things happening this week: more pruning and training, taking clippings to determine sex, topping, and potentially culling! Also might look at how difficult root grafting is for transitioning plants into aero system. Split my main stalk/meristem training site 2! Everything I know about botany says this should be fine. The split is in the direction of the plant's vascular system, so nothing is severed. Bound it and covered to protect. Becoming more concerned about the base of site 6's stalk. Tissue necrosis seems to be progressing. I have to find a solution to this or I'll lose the plant. 7/2/2019 - Didn't spend much time in the garden tonight. Plants are drinking and so was I. Nutrient delta between reservoir and waste is increasing. Increasing nutrients into low 700 PPM to meet their needs. 7/3/2019 - Taking cuts today to determine sex. This time around, I have rooting powder (butyric acid) this time around to get those roots down a little faster. Closet is set up to house these clones while they flower on 12/12. Hopefully all these cuttings are mature enough to tell me each plant's secret. Then I can kill them men. Topped two/four tops on sites 2 and 4 tonight. They were each at four nodes. Waiting for top branches to catch up on nodes. 7/4/2019 - Happy Independence Day! Cuttings are doing well as of this morning. Aero plants are still sucking down nutrients. Pruned and trained all around today. Pruned interior and any leaves covering nodes. Left behind large old grown fan leaves on the lower portions of the plant if they were getting light. 7/5/2019 - Did some aggressive defoliation throughout the canopy. Opened up new growth to light, should lead to more tops. I now have a fan leaf removal methodology: 1. Remove all fan leaves growing upwards. Training the plant causes some nodes to face directly up, these fan leaves will only block light to important production sites; remove them. 2. Remove any interior-growing fan leaves. The interior of the plant should be completely open to budding sites. 3. Leave only lower and outer fan leaves on plant, and only if they are getting light. This large photosynthesis surface area is valuable, but only if it is able to do its job. 7/6/2019 - Tucking leaves today. Pruning three days in a row feels wrong. New growth is slightly inconvenience by some fan leaves, able to be tucked. Hella branching and tops at this point. Speaking of, finished topping sites 2 and 4 this morning. Still waiting for cuttings to flower. Hopefully tomorrow. Seeing some pre-flowers on the larger plants? Could also be new leaves growing at nodes? Keeping an eye on them.

7/8/2019 - I'm seeing buds this week! Too small to tell, but there is hope that I can keep/kill just based on what I see in the tent. What's more, the ScrOG isn't even in place yet so I won't have to untangle any males sentenced to death! Oh, and, I HAVE MY FIRST FLOWER! No big deal. 7/9/2019 - Came home from work to a tent full of wilted plants! FFFFUUUUUU! My nutrient intake hose came out of the bucket, so my plants got nothing for an unknown amount of time. Everything bounced back, but I lost a day of growth and stressed the fuck out of these plants. However, the clone is starting to look better. Some color has returned to her leaves and the new growth is.. well.. growing! Aside from that, continuing the pruning/tucking regimen. 7/10/2019 - Nothing significant today. 7/11/2019 - Health of clone continues to improve. More green, more slow growth. Canopy on the totes is dense and full. looking forward to ScrOGing soon! 7/12/2019 - Found a male flower on site 2. RIP Strong plant. Cut him down and put a female clone in place. So far four of six plants are confirmed female! I've beat the odds. 7/13/2019 - Scratch that tally from yesterday. One of the "flowers" turned out to be a new leaf that had a small, hair like, tip jutting out. Sites 3, 4, & 5 are confirmed female at this time. Got the ScrOG net in place, and site 4 (she needs a name now) is the only one needing any training so far. The net is eight inches from the deck. Popped seeds for the next grow: Alphakronik F2. I'll be doing some cloning and feminized seed production. 7/14/2019 - Upgraded reservoir and run-off today. Bought 20 gallon Rubbermaid Roughneck trashcans. Bottom-of-the-premium-line for waste disposal, priced right for growing herb. This is huge compared to the 5 gallon home depot buckets. Now I can let the a single reservoir fill run for more than 12 hours without worry. Got some BlackJack clones transfered to pots today. Going to clone these and seed them for practice while the Kurry Kush goes through flower. New LEDs just came out, so I could really use an excuse to send an order to China...

7/15/2019 - ScrOG it out. 7/16/2019 - Finally! Site 1 popped a tiny flower.... and it's a girl! Luck is crazy on this regular seed grow. It's looking like I will have 7/10 females?! I was about to destroy site 1 when I found that only site 2 had been male so far. I figured it would be too good to be true. I only had to cull one plant from aero, and the four in dirt haven't shown definitively. 7/17/2019 - Continuing ScrOG, just tuckin' and waitin' to flip.... Any day now. What's the weed growing mantra? "Two more weeks." No, I kid. Flipping to flower later this week. Then starts the closet clonery. I've got some Kurry Kush and Black Jack clones, as well as some Alphakronik F2 seeds that are going to become feminized seed producers. Testing on the Kurry Kush first, then the others. Plan to grow 2 Black Jack and 4 Alphakronik F2 from clone mothers right after the Kurry Kush harvest. Can't make an aeroponic veg tent for a while... this one was expensive enough. Maybe if I could do it cheap enough in a few months. 7/18/2019 - Site 5 confirmed genetic hermaphrodite. Chopped the plant down and was left with a decision. Because all the roots are so entangled, it's best to keep them alive rather than having roots rotting on each other. I have a female growing in soil so I think I can graft it onto the root stock left behind on site 5. Even if the graft fails, my other plants will have filled the ScrOG enough to flip to flower. 7/19/2019 - More trimming. The grafted plant on site 5 has not died immediately. Made a fresh nutrient solution, 50 L at 0.66/1.33/1.33/0.66 mL/L in order CalMag/Micro/Gro/Bloom. PPM came out to a whopping 1025 and I started the pH low at 5.52 7/20/2019 - The plants seem fine with the heavy nutrient solution. Even into the evening there are no signs of any toxicity. The odd thing is the delta in PPM of 500 and pH of 1.5 I need to figure that out. More trimming and tucking today. Things are getting really bushy in here. The seedlings for next grow are looking strong. I gotta start that diary soon. 7/21/2019

7/22/2019 - DAY 50! But nothing to report really. Kind of uneventful. This will be the last week of veg, it may even end earlier! Just bushing out site 6 a little more and hoping site 4 stays reasonably in-bounds. Might take a clone from site 4 to breed since it's my biggest female. I need to keep site 4 the same height through the stretch and get the others to its level? It's either that or spread out 4 even more and make it shorter. Site 5 looks wilted but alive. It has only been 4 days since grafting it, so I expect it to look at death's door. It is a pleasant surprise then to see leaves that have wilted but remained green throughout the plant. Things are looking good? The guy on reddit who grafted a plant posted 8 days apart, so this is still early. 7/23/2019 - More tucking and trimming. Keeping everyone open to light. Site 5 graft looks about the same. 7/24/2019 - More of the same 7/25/2019 - Stayed out late after work today, didn't really do much with the ladies besides check nutes and pH. 7/26/2019 - Defoliated today. Cut all under growth no longer receiving light and removed any branches that would never make it to the canopy (save for a couple that will be clones soon). Also ordered a tower fan to get some additional air circulation in hopes that it helps with humidity. Otherwise, I'll have to borrow/buy a dehumidifier. I am NOT getting WPM on my first grow. Hell to the no. 7/27/2019 - They look great! Super bushy, maybe even a bit overgrown for the space. I'll make sure it works though, looking good for a full solid canopy of buds. Defoliated some more today. Looking at the plants and still found some droplets of water caused by overcrowded leaves. Removed weight in the canopy and things look a little more airy in there. Trying to be conservative with defoliation since I don't know where the boundary is between right amount and too much. Site 5 graft might still take, but I'm moving ahead with the grow. The plant doesn't look completely dead, but it does look very stressed. I'll be keeping an eye on it throughout flower (if it survives) to make sure it doesn't go hermaphrodite and fertilize the whole tent. Decided to flip today. Reducing lights to 12/12 so tomorrow will be my first day of flower. I made this nomenclature decision by considering how plants determine time of year: hours of darkness. Keeping that in mind, these ladies are in veg until they get that 12 hours of darkness. Technically correct is the best kind of correct.

7/28/2019 - This week starts a day early! I flipped to 12/12 yesterday, but have decided to go with today as DAY 1 of flower. Quick reasoning: the plants really only care about the dark cycle for day length. So, even though I only did 12 hours of light today, the plants won't switch to flower until after 12 hours of dark. Other than that, not a lot to report. 7/29/2019 - 7/30/2019 - The foliage never ends. I keep pulling leaves and every day it looks like I did nothing. I've gotta stop pulling leaves for a bit and let these girls grow out. I'll do a sizeable defolation in a week or so. 7/31/2019 - The stretch is no joke. Plants are growing hard and fast. Received some calcium hypochlorite (pool shock) today. The plan is to use it to sanitize the reservoir at a concentration of ~2 PPM chlorine. This should solve my reservoir grime situation. (Lately, my water has been slightly less than clear after a few days. Not sure if nutrient and pH deltas have been related) 8/1/2019 - I didn't get to see them at all today. Left before lights on, then had dinner in the city and got home after lights out. 8/2/2019 - Growth is super visible every time I miss a day. Happy to open the tent to thriving ladies today. Moving the lights up slightly, new growth is looking extra pale. 8/3/2019 - Added a second layer of trellis today. I saw too many posts about heavy buds and inconvenient support solutions. It seemed best to install a second layer as insurance. It doubles as a level plane for my canopy, so win-win!

Things to look forward to this week: More defoliating! Just trying to strike that balance of airiness and photosynthesis. Plus, I gotta get rid of a bunch of useless back-budding throughout the girls. Focus on that canopy! New dehumidifer on the way. It should be running by Wednesday. Hoping to get down the 45% RH for some arbitrary reason! And it will help me cure better too. I keep telling myself the money is worth it. Started treating my water with some calcium hypochlorite, a.k.a. pool shock, at a rate of 2 PPM which I've worked out to 0.15 g for 50 L (my standard tank build). That doesn't sound like much, but it is detectable on the nose. I'm not concerned about 2 PPM ending up absorbed in the plant, it takes in a certain amount of chlorine anyway and this is well below cannabis' phytotoxicity, apparently. The takeaway: it's safe, just like using city tap (many places) to water plants. 8/5/2019 - The girls look great. Went through and removed a lot of growth with a better sense of what to cull. Snipped a load of bud growth branches that would never make it to the top. They were mostly skrawny sucker branches and a few that would have made nice colas if they managed to reach the light. Gonna be picking out root rot and treating with H2O2 for the dead roots from site 5. Starting to see some brown, just need it not to spread to the living plants. Treating with a 2 PPM chlorine dosage to the reservoir. Had to purge the accumulators anyhow, so everything is being treated with antimicrobial now. I won't get to see them until after work tomorrow, any changes in health will be evident. 8/9/2019 - Dehumidifier #2 arrived today. It shows delivery at 12:20 and the driver placed it right-side-up, so I am good to start it right away. Immediately, I am a little surprised at how warm the air is coming out of this thing. I'll keep an eye on temps.... 8/10/2019 - Wow, the reservoir from the dehumidifier filled up in the middle of the 12 hour cycle and shut off automatically. Really pulled a lot of water out of the air! The temps got too high though. Not too long after lights on today, they temp read 90 degrees F, and I can't have that. Moved dehumidifier outside of tent and now draining into 5 gallon bucket. The tent is moving enough air that the humidity inside and out is the same. Seeing if it can lower the humidity enough outside the tent to benefit.

I have some dead roots tangled with my healthy roots-- left behind from removing a male. Clearly they are going to decay in some way. Will they affect the health of my living roots? How to treat them? Complete removal impossible.

Hey you can add 2 tsp per gallon of 3% hydrogen peroxide. It will kill off the bacteria that is blooming feeding on the decaying roots. The peroxide breaks down into water and a rogue O molecule. If that molecule runs into bacteria it kills it. If is hits another O molecule it adds oxygen to the water. It is a win win. Since it breaks down you will want to add another 2tsp about every 4 days or if the water gets cloudy. After a couple weeks the dead roots should be broken down. Just monitor your water for cloudiness after that and start the h2o2 again if you see cloudiness or an unusual ph fluctuation. You can use 3 tsp max but 2 has always fixed my issues. Hope this helps.

8/11/2019 - Final training for the screen. Taking quite a bit of foliage off to open the canopy to airflow. 8/12/2019 - Lots of little flower pistils in the canopy now. Starting to see how buds develop. Pinching out undergrowth with more confidence now, weeding out anything that isn't getting any light, leaving a couple stragglers just to see what they turn into (for the experience). 8/13/2019 - Site 3 is a few shades lighter than the rest of the plants, making me uncomfortable. Adjusted the nozzle next to her roots, hopefully this addresses it. Does not seem like root rot or any other issues in the root zone. 8/14/2019 - Canopy is beginning to look like a bunch of white bulls eyes with new flowers. NICE! 8/15/2019 - Seeing the helical growth of buds around stems now. Pretty cool! My nodes seems tightly spaced, so hopefully these are some dense buds. 8/16/2019 - Site 3 still looks a little pale, but growth seems fine. 8/17/2019 - I've been raising the lights almost an inch every day now. The stretch lives on.

8/19/2019 - Canopy looks great! I will certainly do a better job of evening it out on the next grow, but there are tons of bud sites throughout the canopy. Some of the limbs have over a foot of bud sites developing. 8/20/2019 - 8/21/2019 - Seeing the beginnings of frost on sweetleaves. 8/26/2019 - Noticing the tiniest bit of nutrient burn at leaf tips all over all plants. Need to manage these recirculated nutrients better in check. Losing a substantial amount now from dehumidifier. Sometimes feels like I'm just moving the water across the room the expensive way. 8/27/2019 - Seeing a lot of frost on site 6 but nowhere near as frozen anywhere else. Site 6 also looks substantially darker green, different pheno or just (shorter = less PPD = darker)? Hope everything else catches up, or I'm gonna have a lot of mids on my hands. 8/28/2019 - Short time with them today. Everything looks nice. 8/29/2019 - Buds are fattening more every day, hoping they put on some stronger frost soon. I have one super frosted girl, she's a darker green and shorter than the rest. Perhaps a different pheno? I think maybe the shorter girls might be done pushing out calices, while the others are still growing more (better access to light) and stacking buds. Maybe the heavier girls will start frosting up more as they slow down bud production? I have some slight concern that my harvest is going to become mostly mids if this isn't how it works. 8/30/2019 - Business as usual. Long weekend, hot weekend. "Fingers-crossed" is an organic pre-treatment against foxtailing, right? 8/31/2019 - Canopy looking good at the open of the weekend. buds have mostly halted with the heat. 9/1/2019 - Seeing some spots. Not sure if heat related. Looks like calcium deficiency, so adding 10 mL more CalMag to my regular nutrient build. My pH meter broke? I can't seem to get it to calibrate, reads 16.00 on anything over pH8 (normal tap water). No time for this, ordered a new one, running nutes with test dropper for now.

9/2/2019 - Fuggin' hawt. Tent temps didn't hit 90 thankfully! Highest temp was 88F inside today. Introduced some dry ice below the canopy. Hope it cooled the roots a little, maybe the plants got a little extra CO2. Either would be good, and I hope the Hamilton was worth it. Also bumped up the watering cycle from 1.8s to 2.1s every 2 minutes. 9/3/2019 - Another hot one, but temps show high of 86 inside. No foxtailing in sight, "fingers-crossed" treatment has been effective so far. Seeing some more frost across the canopy. However, cue confused Fry: Not sure if week 6 is normal time to see fade start, or if my plants are getting to be in poor health. Stay tuned! 9/4/2019 - Thermometer shows a high of 86F in the past 24 hours, so that's not terrible. Humidity is staying in the low to mid 50s during the day and dropping ten points at night. The CalMag bump seems to have stopped the leaf spotting. Incidentally, the new pH meter is much more responsive and generally faster; breaking that other one was a blessing in disguise. Canopy looks great. Cutting back some fan leaves blocking light and air to buds. Learning that I should defoliate a little more heavily, and thin some dense branching. Seeing some tiny popcorn on the undersides as a result of the latter. Wondering if it's not too late to take a clipping from site six and re-veg, that plant is coated! 9/5/2019 - Building a new nutrient reservoir tonight. Going to add a little extra Micro to get some more nitroigen into the mix. Don't like how the plants have gone a few shades lighter than a health forest green. Hopefully nitrogen fixes that! Otherwise, buds are fattening very nicely. Wish I could better gauge aroma, but seasonal allergies are killing rn. Small update on closet veg/mothers, everything looks healthy. Getting somewhat dense in there, still no signs of preflower. Just keep pushing onnnnnn. 9/6/2019 - Built a reservoir with extra Cal and extra Nitrogen. The heat makes my reservoir get kinda gross pretty quick. I've got it pretty much dialed in with the amount of pure water produced my by dehumidifier for building 50L around the time I'm at ~10L in the reservoir (with daily top-offs). 9/7/2019 - The heat laid off a little today. The tent has been around 84F most of the day. Moved the thermometer down from the filter to the canopy and the humidity shows as being in the low 40% range. NICE! It's my understanding that anywhere in the 80s is too hot for flower, but plants still look happy and healthy. Again, parts are a little pale, but I believe that has halted for now. Oh! And calices everywhere are nicely coated with trichs. DOPE!

9/8/2019 - Start of week 7 of flower. Hoping this is done in the next four weeks just because I'm becoming impatient. Realistically, four weeks should be about the right time. Plenty of time for the buds to fatten, and ripen with resin. The smell is starting to kick in this week. When I open the tent, it's got that earth, pine, and subtle pukey undertone. Gonna be goooooood shit. 9/9/2019 - Hot again, but at least the humidity is low. Not much else to report. 9/10/2019 - I don't know if it's just my hopes, but I think the girls are starting to smell more strongly. Maybe I'm just keeping my allergies better in check. 9/11/2019 - Went out tonight, didn't see the girls at all. 9/12/2019 - Same story. Reservoir looks good at least. A little hot, but what isn't right now. 9/13/2019 - Looking good and healthy, stay the course. 9/14/2019 - Yeeeesh it is hot today and my reservoir is COOKED. icing it down. Starting to see more and more foxtailing. Not looking bad, everything still covered in trichs, just the result of a hot week.

Ah, the beginning of the eighth week of flowering. Since this looks a big sativa-dominant, I'd bet it takes at least ten weeks for these to be done. But enough with the hopes and dreams. here's the week's grow forecast: FINALLY! A break in the heat! These buds might actually put on more weight if I can keep the tent in the low 80s. 9/17/2019 - Built a new reservoir tonight. Started a late flower regimen that omits Gro entirely. The solution PPM was a little low (reading ~800), evap should take care of that over the day tomorrow. 9/18/2019 - Nothing new to report. Flowers are just getting thicc now. Actual calyx looks coated in trichomes. Sugar leaves are pretty light/medium, definitely not woolly heavy like I've seen in some other journals. At present, I do not know that this is a meaningful indicator of anything in final product. 9/19/2019 - Smell has increased today (or my ability to detect), I can pick up some stinky poo undertones. I like how that's a good weed smell. It's faint, but I definitely got it. Trich productions on buds has picked up, seeing some resin developing. Really want it to be 3 weeks. 9/20/2019 - Buds are beautiful. Seeing some purple calyx tips on site 1. Less appealing is the yellowed foliage on site 4. There are plenty of leaves and this is a minority, but gotta document it. Canopy/buds on site 4 appear healthy throughout the plant with the exception of this small central zone of yellowed leaves.

9/22/2019 - Everything looks good this morning. Flowers are getting so heavy, branches require support in many places. I'm really happy I decided to install the second layer of trellis. Trichs are dense on calyx all over, sugar leaves are just okay. Slowly buying things for harvest, ordering a trim tray soon. The girls are really getting fragrant now. I hesitate to say they are in the "high" smell category because I think they could get louder still, and I gotta have somewhere to go with it. On this topic, I would like to say that carbon filters work! This carbon filter made by Phresh definitely makes a difference in odor elimination. I have had it installed since before flowering, so I can't say what it would smell like if I didn't have any exhaust odor control. What I CAN say: The tent smells heavily of these girls in flower, my living area smells like the weed I smoke and nothing more. I would say it has been worth every bit of what it cost. (Putting this out there because I had a hard time finding anything about the efficacy of carbon filters when I was researching. To anyone wondering if they REALLY work, yes this has made 25 sq ft of canopy smell less than a half ounce in jar) 9/24/2019 - Hot today, supposed to peak tomorrow. There is an explosion of orange hairs across the canopy. I'm not sure if the heat brought it on, or if it's always so dramatic. Foxtailing has definitely gotten worse. I can't be upset about that, I don't think I could have done anything about the heat. Perfect buds over fall/winter hopefully. The plant on site 6 (the dankest one) is ready to come down soon. Trichs are cloudy all over with just a few showing amber. I wonder if it's too late to clip something small and reveg (probably), it's a promising looking pheno but it might just die out. Oh well. 9/27/2019 - Finally, the heat has passed. Foxtailing damage has already been done, but at least my girls can live comfortably for their last two(?) weeks of flower. Tent temps now are 77F during the day, a full ten degrees lower. I've also dimmed my boards a little bit, I figure the October sun (the norm for cannabis in flower) is a little less intense than the summer period, so it can't hurt right? 9/28/2019 - Cool days are here to stay. Wrapping up week 9 of flowering, I'll have a canopy shot and reference bud shot up. Foxtails throughout the canopy after two weeks of hot weather. I did what I could without going out and dropping almost $500 on an A/C unit, and I can't be upset about it being outside of my control. The foxtail growth is very frosty, so I think the "damage" is only cosmetic. In the next week, I think I'll be chopping site 6 and hanging it in brown bags above my lights. I'm starting to see some amber trichs on this plant here and there, planning to harvest at about 20% amber to round out the effects of this sativa dominant hybrid. The other girls are starting to see a good proportion of cloudy trichomes, so they are only about two weeks behind. Hoping to harvest in early October with a small selection of buds ready by Halloween. Definitely planning on curing the bulk of this to the full extent, quality is what I'm after.

The start of week 10 of flowering, an auspicious week. I could be harvesting one plant this week on site 6, she looks just about ready to come down in terms of trichome appearance. Curious though, does a plant necessarily fade before harvest or is that only if you've chosen to do a flush on it? I'll find out over the next few days. Other news: temps are way down! No more foxtails, the cool weather is here to stay! I look forward to my next grow in cool weather. Curious to see if the tent will keep my apartment warm this winter, maybe I won't have to run the heater at all. 10/1/2019 - The girls are looking spooky. 10/2/2019 - Getting ready for harvest, I have a trim bin, curing RH control packs, mini hygrometers on order. The fragrance is great in the tent, I'm really looking forward to the fruits of my labor (and energy bill). 10/3/2019 - Came home to the V A P O R F A D E. The cold temps(?) have brought on some purple in the buds and leaves aside from the lime green to goldenrod leaf fade. Fall is in the air... for my tent. Looking at harvesting in the next two weeks. Looking for 15-20% amber trichs to harvest. I want a touch of immobilizing CBN to round out this (apparently) sativa driven hybrid. The purple and gold hues are characteristic of the Durban in this lineage 10/4/2019 - More darkened pistil hairs showing. Not much else to report. 10/5/2019 - More purple hues through the canopy, some of these girls are looking stunning. Pulled some bananas out of site 6 canopy, they are easy to spot because they look out of place. Tweezed them into water, I figure water will keep any pollen from dispersing. It's too late in the grow for any seeds to fully develop, so these present a pure nuisance. Checking trichs daily, still don't see much amber on site 6 even though it is quite ripe. I'll do some reading about harvesting today.

10/6/2019 - Alright, the beginning of week 11 flowering. These ladies need to wrap it up (cue Oscars symphony) so I can get them dried and cured. I'm ready for the next one: AlphaKronik F2 from AlphaKronik in Oregon. A multiple Chemdog cross, it should be stinky with a bunch of thiols. Checked plants today and can only confirm 1/4 female. The other three plants likely male. No biggie, I only need one lady, I can take four clones, and I've got 8 seeds on back. But enough about the next grow, what's new with this grow today? I should be harvesting site 6 midweek, the trichs look ready for it. The other girls are at the semi-cloudy state, with a fair amount of glassy trichs still. They should be all cloudy by the weekend and have the minority population of amber that I want to round out this sativa dominant bud. That will put us at 12 weeks, about right for a long maturing sativa hybrid (from what I've read anyway).

Just got back from a four day trip out of town. Thanks to a friend for watching these ladies for me (although this is mostly automated)! 10/14/2019 - Here we are at the beginning of week 12 flower and I think these girls are ready to harvest. I could really use a little assurance on this, I've never judged cannabis ripeness for harvest before, and I don't want to mess it up. 10/16/2019 - Still waiting on these girls to wrap it up. I chopped the small plant in soil (she was a backup plant, might as well flower her, I thought. Well, I neglected her and she died while I was away. Did a quick trim and hung it in a paper bag (pretty dry already) for a couple days. Trimmed it further and jarred it today for curing. Overall, the buds on that plant are pretty larfy, yielded one quart mason, probably only 1/2 oz. It was good practice for the real thing soon. In the meantime, right click on pictures --> open in new tab, for some serious zoom-in on the trichome pics particularly. Enjoy!

8/20/2019 - Another warm week while I wait for these girls to WRAP IT UP. You need to wrap it up B, wrap that shit up, Nothing really to report, I'm genuinely just waiting on these girls to finish. Seriously, week 13 of flower. 8/25/2019 - Calling it, trichomes look cloudy all over, seeing a small number of amber (I want a daytime/social smoker), and I'm ready to get this one in the books. Temps are down for the foreseeable future, all things seem aligned. Chopping site 6 first since she's the smallest and this is my first time (uwu teehee). She also throws the most banana pollen sacs, glad I didn't clone this one for a mother. 8/26/2019 - Life is getting in the way! Working with some friends all day for a popup. Managed to chop sites 1 & 2 in the morning, not much else. 8/27/2019 - Finished the big girl on site 4 this morning. Next trimming...

This is definitely more bud that I was prepared to yield. I'm about a week into giving the majority of it a proper cure, but I've been able to taste some of the earlier harvest. The effect is spot on what I had hoped for: a heady social/daytime smoker that doesn't put me to sleep or weigh my body down excessively. Looking forward to the fully cured stuff, my earliest buds have about a week to go. Way more than I expected to yield. I calculated a 2.5 lb harvest given lights, space, and setup-- and that was supposed to be on a good day. Floored by these results! Looking forward to a my second grow already under way.

@Mrs_Larimar, Thanks for stopping by! I used the H2O2 method for a while, but it got expensive. After doing some calculations, I went with calcium hypochlorite as a reservoir sanitizing solution. Only 0.15 g / 50L reservoir build to get 2 PPM means my $14 will go a long way. I chose their answer because it is definitely the most informed input I received, and I can verify that it effectively treated the cause of my root zone dankness.

@ThatsMyPurse, thanks a lot! For my first one (inside at least) she turned out really well. Buds are starting to swell up and the main cola is just a real stunner. In terms of smell, she has a real nice strong Skunk smell with hints of sweet aromas, makes me salivate every time I open the tent to look at her.

@Anxious_Passenger, Thanks for the love! Today is my first day of flower, flipped last night. @The_Projexx, Thanks for watching! Pretty hands off right now. Installed a dehumidifier in the past week as insurance against mold. Found a good price on a 50 pint model, and it does not disappoint. The water has really low TDS (~10-15 PPM) so I've been using it for my reservoir. Should help cut down on the water bill even though it's taxing on the electric.

Awesome looking setup! Those containers are so great, I've been considering something similar. With the yellow lip on the lid do you have any algae issues?
ThatsMyPurse
ThatsMyPursecommented6 years ago
@Cheezy Thanks! This has been a fun experiment. I have not had any algae issues. I would recommend either getting something with a black lid, or spraying this one with a couple coats. Taping it was a pain and I'm not particularly happy that there are a bunch of criss-crossing channels under the duct tape on my lids that cannot be cleaned out or dried if necessary. Not my favorite thing to think about. Besides that, these totes have been pretty great for this project. I don't want to go to 5 gallon buckets, but I am thinking about individual containers for the next go-around. My roots are so tangled up in the base of these. I had to leave the roots behind when removing males, enhancing my risk of root rot. The reservoir does get a little funky over the week. Something is growing, but I don't know what it is. Looks like gray gunk on my little submersible pump intake. Bought some pool shock this week, heard running chlorine at 2 PPM is perfectly safe and slows down the development of cultures. I change out the reservoir 100% every 5-7 days; slowing down the rate at which microbes multiply should work for me.
