Hubbabubba Haze 2026

BalconyBoy 25.05.26 The seedlings have now formed their first single-finger leaf and are stretching vigorously towards the sun. This week, it's already over 30 degrees during the day and 15 degrees at night. With these temperatures, I've decided to remove the cups; now it's important to keep the substrate moist. The layer of expanded clay helps as evaporation protection in each planting bag, this setup proved itself last year and also makes watering more even. There is also a layer of expanded clay under the pots to avoid waterlogging. So far, I've observed that due to the lower temperatures at night, growth is slower compared to the photos I started indoors, but that should balance out with the power of the sun in the first two weeks compared to the small lamp. The autos currently have a delay of 4 weeks and are 30cm behind the photoperiod plants. In 2026, the soil has now been prepared for the first time with the following ingredients per 40l: 500g rock dust 250g italpollina (4-4-4) 400g charcoal dust (crushed charcoal) about 4l compost At the beginning of flowering, there will be the following topdressing: 105g italpollina (4-4-4) 60g Kalong guano 15g potassium sulfate The ingredients for this season will last for several years and hopefully deliver good results. BalconyBoy 01.06.26 Last week was probably tough for the seedlings with temperatures over 30 degrees and relative humidity below 25%. They made it through, and this week it will be a bit less hot, plus the rain yesterday raised the humidity to around 60%. At first, I was worried that the soil mix for this strain might be too nutrient-rich. After my modest successes with autos last year, I hope to achieve more with better genetics and growing directly in the final pot. I’m probably being too impatient again, and a growth spurt is just around the corner.

BalconyBoy 08.06.26 Hubbabubba Haze remains the smallest on the balcony, which I'm watching with impatience. After a tough start in high temperatures, growth is now visibly accelerating and my concern that my substrate for autos (and Haze) is overloaded seems unfounded. Already at this early stage, signs of side branches are appearing and the seedlings look overall vigorous. It will probably be in two weeks that the automatic watering system, which supplies all the plants, can be installed. Currently, the water demand is still too low compared to the almost four times larger photoperiod plants.

BalconyBoy 15.06.26: Even though the Hubbabubba Haze plants have the brightest leaf color compared to all the others, they are developing well so far. They are also visibly branching out and not just growing taller; I'm considering starting LST this week. What worries me a bit is that individual flowers are already showing at the internodes; I hope this is just the pre-flowering stage like I know from photoperiod plants and not the beginning of flowering already. I would be happy if the autos grow larger than 30cm this year, after I implemented the tip of starting in the final pot and bought seeds from a well-known breeder.

BalconyBoy 22.06.26 With temperatures above 30 degrees, the plants continue to grow well and soon look like a chandelier due to the bending down. The vegetative growth has not slowed down yet, despite the first flowers at the shoot tips. Fingers crossed that the autos reach a respectable size before the flowers sprout.

BalconyBoy On Saturday, I decided to properly tie down the Hubbabubba Haze in all directions. I also dared to remove some small shoots so that the flower growth later focuses on strong branches and there’s less small stuff. It worked well, and the leaves quickly realigned; the plants didn’t seem stressed. Actually, we’re already in the second or third week of flowering, but I didn’t want to accept it in the hope of further height growth. When I look at other diaries with this genetics, it seems like it will probably double in height if everything goes well. That reassures me enough. I discovered some signs of nibbling in a few spots and sprayed a preventive H202 solution, which didn’t harm the plants. So far in 2026, I haven’t had any serious pest infestations, so let’s keep it going!

BalconyBoy 06.07.26 The heatstorm didn't really shake the smaller autos much, the temperatures have eased a bit, but even at 25 degrees, growth is continuing well. However, it's 90% flowering growth and no height growth anymore. That's why I applied top dressing for the flowering phase in the middle of last week. Mixed with double the amount of soil, each auto got the following: 50g italpollina 4-4-4 30g Guano Kalong 7.5g Patent Kali The water requirement has decreased a bit, and aside from a single adult thrip, I haven't discovered or eliminated any pests. Just to be safe, I ordered a few bags of predatory mites and will probably receive and apply them by the end of the week. I set up the automatic watering system over the weekend, but I'm still not completely satisfied and am fiddling with the settings. Have a good week and continued success with your harvest, everyone!

BalconyBoy 13.07.26 The buds of the Hubbabubba Haze are now visibly increasing in volume, and the plant has also gained a few cm in height. Last week, bags with predatory mites were placed against thrips. According to the description, it’s clearly too dry for the predatory mites, I hope they don’t all die off because of it. So far, I see neither new feeding spots on the leaves nor any adult thrips. After applying a fertilizer mix for the flowering phase as top dressing, no deficiencies are noticeable, so now I’m just watering as usual with water. In the meantime, the automatic watering system has been installed and delivers about half as much water to the autos as to the larger plants. 350ml drips into the plant bag per minute, and after initially programming 2x2 minutes (1.4l), I’ve set a third block for 2 minutes (now a total of about 2.1l) since the larger ones weren’t getting enough otherwise. I will observe whether the substrate of the Hubbabubba Haze becomes too wet because of this or not; so far, the amount seems fine. Have a pleasant week everyone!

BalconyBoy 20.07.26 I notice that the thrips have indeed eaten some leaves before the predatory mites could take action. However, not on the small leaves on the flowers. The buds have visibly thickened in the last week, and the plants still show no deficiencies. Vertical growth is definitely over now. The smell is now present and no longer just subtle when I sit on the balcony. The automatic watering has been paused for now, as I noticed that the plant bags at the bottom were noticeably too damp; I can't afford waterlogging right now. Even on day three without water, the plants don't seem thirsty. In a few days, I'll reconnect them to the hoses but will reduce the pump's runtime by one to two minutes; let's see if that's enough for the big ones. Maybe I'll also come up with a different way to reduce the amount that reaches the autos. Feel free to write in the comments if you have any ideas. Here's to a sunny week and happy growing!

BalconyBoy 27.07.26 In the shade of the photoperiod plants, the flowers of the Hubbabubba Haze are developing well. The flowers are visibly increasing in volume. The smell is noticeable on the balcony but not yet overpowering. Still no signs of nutrient deficiencies, thrips, or new pests. To optimize watering, I separated them from the pump that supplies the large plants since the substrate was getting too wet quickly, even with half the water for the big ones. In my equipment box, there was a Chinese watering box that now pumps 800ml from the tank into the plant bag once a day. The box has a built-in battery, and as it looks now, it lasts for five days, so I can confidently go away for a few days in August. Now I just need to observe and refill the water tank. BalconyBoy 03.08.26 Another week of an epic hot summer begins for the little autos on my balcony. I want to share the reasons why I won't be growing autos on this balcony in the future. Even the best genetics, like this season, are limited by the half day of direct sun that the location gets. With a shortened timeframe for vegetative growth, the chance of achieving satisfactory results for the effort is just low. Currently, I see that the Hubbabubba Haze is definitely producing nice and numerous buds that are swelling, smelling good, and will provide me with enough yield for my needs. Even in the shade of the big ones, where they spend most of their time now, this is the case. Nevertheless, I would prefer to have three decent Christmas trees under the current rules for home cultivation in the future. Aside from that, I am satisfied with the genetics; it already smells quite strong on the balcony, and I’m looking forward to Haze from my own grow. I estimate that the little ones will be ripe by the end of August and I’m relaxed regarding the vacation since the watering is now working well. I have now switched from citric acid to phosphoric acid because I hope to keep the pH value in the water tank stable for longer (and avoid biofilm) during my absence, where the reservoir should last three or four days before being refilled.
