PapaTerps Black Lobster - Cipher Genetics SUMMER is upon us and grows that were started around March are a week or so away from harvest - so that means I'll have an empty tent pretty soon! So I've decided to start another grow for this Summer and into Autumn. For this grow, I've selected Black Lobster by Cipher Genetics - I chose this strain for its Blue Lobster genetics and its intriguing Blueberry and Diesel flavours! I will be vegging her for about 5 weeks and I will be using a mixture of growing techniques which I have used before, including topping with some low stress training. You're all more than welcome to follow along, I will try to detail my process without overloading each week with "Too Much Info". Day 1 (16/06) - Seed dropped into a small metal screw tin filled with RO Tap water pH'd to 6.3 and stored in a dark warm room - she will remain here until the seed pops and a taproot appears; I will check the progress of the seed every ~12 hours. Day 2 - The seed has already popped and a taproot has appeared, so I've filled a small 0.3L paper starter pot with some All-Mix and dropped the seed in! Day 3 - The seedling has already appeared from the soil, with her two starter leaves already searching for light. Day 4 - the seedlings have grown a lot quicker than I expected, stretching to almost 5cm already... I need to move them closer to the light source. Day 5 - She has a nice long stem and her first leaves have started to develop.

I have upped her Fish-Mix and Acti-Vera nutrients to promote growth and plant health! ✂️ I've removed two of her top most fan leaves to improve light penetration to the lower nodes, this will encourage lower stem growth. 🌱 Week 2 of Veg, and shes working on stretching, developing her root system, strengthening her main stem as well as producing lower side stems 💪🏻

PapaTerps Black Lobster - Cipher Genetics Day 17 🚿 Watered every three days with 2L of RO water, with nutrients mixed individually and in order, finally I ph'd the solution to 6.3. ✂️ I've removed a couple of her lower fan leaves to improve airflow and I've also topped her main stem to allow the lower stems to grow up and form a consistent canopy 💪🏻 I've decided to leave her two larger fan leaves for now, because she is still quite small and I don't want to stress her too much. 🌱 Week 3 of Veg, she recovered from her first topping and has started to grow out her lower stems and supporting fan leaves! Shes smaller than the Big Z, but is a similar size to the other plants in this grow, so I'm not worried about her size; she might been an extra week of veg to get her to the size I want her at before I switch her over to 12/12, she is also in a much larger pot, so it's possible she's still working on developing her root structure - no decision yet, it's till early days 👍🏻

No alterations to her feeding. ✂️ This week I've lollipopped her to improve airflow and to encourage her to grow up, but other than that, she's just growing! 🌱 Week 4 of Veg, and she's working on stretching and developing her stems! She's grown a lot in the last week, so I have high hopes for her! I've moved her into a 5x5 tent now along with all of the other plants in this grow, I will also be setting up a drip feed system from next week to streamline the feeding process 👌🏻

PapaTerps Black Lobster - Cipher Genetics Day 35 💡 PPFD: 540 ♒VPD: 0.98kPa 🚿 Watered every four days with 3L of RO water, with nutrients mixed individually, in order and then finally, I ph'd the solution to 6.3. I've reduced her root nutrient as she no longer requires it and increased her CalMag because some of the plants were showing signs of magnesium deficiency. From next feeding, I will start to introduce her bloom nutrients. ✂️ I've given her a good defoliation and I've lollipopped her up to about the third/fourth node from the canopy. I've introduced a few training clips to help her grow more evenly, as she was a bit awkward looking - she will definitely need another week or so before the 12/12 switch to allow her to grow up a bit, but she is ready physically for the switch. 🌱 Week 5 of Veg, she's still a bit short compared to the other girls in the tent, but she is strong and sturdy, and she looks ready to hold any weight that flower throws at her, but I would like a few more cm in hight before then! She still has another week or so to go, but she is showing her maturity and looks robust enough to begin the 12/12 switch 💪🏻

PapaTerps Black Lobster - Cipher Genetics Week 1 of Bloom 🌸 She has reached maturity, has big strong lateral stems, a nice even canopy with no signs of deficiencies or illnesses, so she is ready for the 12 switch. I gradually reduced her light schedule over the last five days of veg, until she hit the 12 hour schedule yesterday, so today is her second day "in bloom", she should start her stretch over the next few days; she looks ready for the stretch 💪🏻 ✂️ No work on her this week, I don't usually defoliate or train my girls during the first and second week of bloom because I want to reduce as much stress as possible. 🚿 Watered every three days this week, with 3L of RO water, with nutrients mixed individually, in order and then finally, I ph'd the solution to 6.3. I've switch out her veg nutrients now for bloom nutrients; these volumes will slowly be increased over the next couple of weeks depending on her needs. 💡 PPFD: ~650 ♒ VPD: 1.3kPa PH: 6.3 🌱 Days from seed: 62 🌸 Days in Bloom: 2

PapaTerps Black Lobster - Cipher Genetics Week 2 of Bloom 💧 Watered every three days this week, with 3L of RO water, with nutrients mixed individually, in order and then finally, I pH'd the solution to 6.3. I've increased her bloom nutrients again, and I will continue to do that over the next few weeks! ✂️ No work on her this week, I tend to leave my girls alone during the first and second week of bloom. 🌸 Week 2 of bloom and shes growing really well but has remained quite bushy. Her stretch has been the average for the tent and her budsites have the beginnings of flower, so she's well and truly into bloom now! The tent is begining to fill with that beautiful scent, so odour control will have to start soon. PapaTerps Black Lobster - Cipher Genetics Week 3 of Bloom 🌸 She has finished her stretch and is working hard of developing her flower! No real scent just yet, hopefully that comes in over the next few days. She has strong lateral stems and looks really healthy, so all good so far 🙌🏻 ✂️ I've lollipopped her again, removing all leaves stems and budsites below the top 6-7 nodes from the canopy - these lower branches won't develop into anything and will more than likely cause problems later down the line. I've also removed a couple of the larger fan leaves from her center, to improve airflow and light penetration 💪🏻 💧 Watered every three days with 5L of RO water, with nutrients mixed individually, in order and then finally, I pH'd the solution to 6.3. I've increased some of her nutrients and added the Alg-A-Mix as a precaution to any temperature fluctuating that might occur this time of year. 💡 PPFD: ~740 ♒ VPD: 1.34kPa 🌱 Days from seed: 78 🌸 Days in Bloom: 19

PapaTerps Black Lobster - Cipher Genetics Week 4 Bloom 🌸 Another great week for this girl, she's developing her budsites really well and has started to bulk too! The flower has a typical indica structure with purple tips and short thick stigma. Her smell is really coming through now and is the most dominant in the tent; heavy on the blueberry with a sharp citrusy scent that lingers, really stunning! Her overall structure is good too, with strong lateral stems that haven't struggled with the weight of her flower 💪🏻 All the girls have been moved into the Spider Farmer 8x4, because the 5x5 and 4x2 were too difficult to manage 👍🏻 ✂️ No work this week, she has sufficient airflow through the canopy as well as light penetration to the lower budsites. 💧 Watered every three days with 4L of RO water - nutrients were mixed individually, in order and then finally pH'd to 6.3. I've increased her nutrients again to keep up with her flower production. 💡 PPFD: ~800 ♒ VPD: 1.52kPa 🌱 Days from seed: 87 🌸 Days in Bloom: 28

PapaTerps Black Lobster - Cipher Genetics Week 5 Bloom 🌸 Solid week for the BL, she hasn't bulked as much as some of the other girls (lots of time for that), but she is a much bigger plant with a lot more internodal budsites that the others. Her flower looks like a kings crown with deep lime capped with tips of purple, her trichome development has been off the charts - every part of her is extremely sticky, even the slightest touch and it feels like you have glue on your hand/arm! Her fragrance is also something special, blueberry and gas with a sweet citrus finish, it reminds me a lot like the Grand Prixx that I grew earlier in the year, which turned out to be my favourite smoke of all time, so I'm super excited for this one!! 🙌🏻 ✂️ I've removed the lowest most budsites from each stem, because they were just too far away from the light source, but other than that, I've just left her to grow 🏻 💧 Watered every three days with 4L of RO water - nutrients were mixed individually, in order and then finally pH'd to 6.3. I've increased her nutrients again to keep up with her flower production. 💡 PPFD: ~900 ♒ VPD: 1.52kPa 🌱 Days from seed: 95 🌸 Days in Bloom: 34

PapaTerps Black Lobster - Cipher Genetics Week 6 Bloom 🌸 The changes in her bulking are becoming less noticeable as the days go on, so this means her bulk phase is coming to an end. She has developed medium sized flower that is completely covered in trichomes, she's incredibly sticky and her gassy blueberry scent lingers on you for a good few minutes after you brush up on her! Her pistils are turning amber and her colouring is becoming more deep green with dark purple tips, the sugar coating of trichomes (she is 100% bred for hash/rosin) makes it look like something from outer space! She's really beautiful! 😍 Temperatures have started to drop now, which is perfect timing for these girls as they all have about 3-4 weeks of scheduled bloom left. ✂️ I've removed her lowest most side stems that were too far behind the canopy, they will only cause problems and use up energy that could go upward. Other than that, she is in great health 👍🏻 💧 Watered every three days with 5L of RO water, nutrients were mixed individually, in order and then finally pH'd to 6.3. I've altered her nutrients to meet her needs for late phase of bloom. 💡 PPFD: ~900 ♒ VPD: 1.46kPa 🌱 Days from seed: 102 🌸 Days in Bloom: 41

PapaTerps Black Lobster - Cipher Genetics Week 8 Bloom 🌸 Day 55 of bloom heading towards week 9, her entire flower has taken on a deep purple colouring with thick coating of trichomes that make it look like something out of space! It's really striking and beautiful to look at. Her fragrance, which has shined throughout bloom, has remained blueberry forward with a gassy undertones, I'm really looking forward to getting her down dried and cured, she's simply special! Her pisitils have basically all turned amber now and her trichomes have started to turn milky too, so it's only a matter of time now, at least one more week I'd say 👌🏻 ✂️ No work this week, she has good light penetration and airflow. She won’t need anything between now and harvest👌🏼 💧 Watered every three days with 4L of RO water, nutrients were mixed individually, in order and then finally pH’d to 6.3. I’ve begun to reduce her nutrients as she approaches harvest. 💡 PPFD: ~900 ♒ VPD: 1.56kPa 🌱 Days from seed: 116 🌸 Days in Bloom: 55

@DulliGrow, it has a berry fragrance with a lingering citrus/gas scent - so for me, it leans more towards the blue lobster! The structure is more Facade, dark compact flower with purpling tips 👍🏻
