German_GrowLab Hello, dear Grow Community! A new project is calling for a new, "original" intro. As promised in my last main report, today marks the start of a little side project – a new, almost guided journey. So, the other day, I was sitting in a random student flat with two friends who had been eyeing the growing hobby for a while during a little "smoke session." In a moment of euphoria, I offered to provide the necessary equipment along with the know-how to make this dream a reality. 😅 The next day, when the aforementioned euphoria had somewhat faded, it hit me: Now you have to deliver. So, I packed everything up, transported it to the mentioned flat, and set it up. As a substrate, I had some of my Clackamas Coot Soil in a lite version – with one-third of the amendments – which I generously provided. This was packed halfway into an 11-liter pot, which was then filled with BioBizz Light to give the little ones a gentle start. When it came to the genetics, I initially gave the guys free rein. However, when their choice fell on a well-known white-label manufacturer, I had to intervene – quoting Daz (Night Owl): "White Labels are for T-Shirts." 😬 But enough about that. I then made a counter-proposal in the form of two genetics from Mephisto Genetics and managed to get them excited about it. So, here’s what’s on the menu: Mephisto Wedding (Wedding Cake [Seed Junky Genetics] × Double Grape) × Creme de la Chem: The classic, reinterpreted, with a bit of Chem funk in the finish. Orange Diesel (Orange Diesel V3.0 [Lady Sativa Genetics] × S.O.D.K.): A citrusy diesel mix that, according to the manufacturer, leans more towards the euphoric-active direction. And what can I say? The start was a bit bumpy. The guys misjudged the distance to the lamp in combination with the light intensity – and now we have a bit of a mess (or in this case, more like asparagus). But it’s all good. 😁 Furthermore, my request for pictures of the seedlings was somewhat neglected, which is why we’re starting in week 1. But that’s… not a big deal. Lastly, just a little disclaimer: In this grow, I’m merely taking on a supporting role. It’s being run by a separate two-person household, so it’s Cang compliant. I’m looking forward to this somewhat different project and am curious to see what comes out of it in the end. In the best case, I can introduce two new growers to this wonderful hobby and maybe even inspire them to stick with it permanently.

German_GrowLab Hello, dear Grow community! Welcome to the second (or rather already 2 ½.) week of this supervised big project of our ambitious "young growers." Honestly, I'm really quite satisfied with the guys. I mean, did they initially put the little ones underwater a bit too much? Yessss... well, maybe they did! (It happens to the best... and to me too.) 😬 Was the lamp not adjusted, as I requested, after the new leaf pairs appeared, and did the PPFD value stay below 70 for almost a week? Who even remembers that anymore? That feels like ages ago.😅 Nevertheless, the ladies are actually doing quite well. Sure, one or two have handled the overwatering better or worse, but we’ll just take that as our first learning experience. The lamp has been adjusted now, and we're sitting at around 300 PPFD. Since the little ones deserve a little wellness treatment after the shock, I paid the guys a little visit – complete with Fulvic Acid as a foliar spray and some of my compost tea that I had left over from my main report. And of course, a truckload of hot tips for the future. 😜 So now it means: wait and hope that the ladies get back on their feet quickly.😁 The next few days are going to be nice and warm again. We might set up the tent in the lockable basement of the two at a certain point – probably during flowering. But we'll see when the time comes. All in all, the journey is starting despite a bumpy beginning. I'm still curious to see how the two will do. For the upcoming week, we’ll focus on the topic of LST... can’t wait.😂 That’s it for now. German_GrowLab Hello, dear grow community! Welcome to the 3rd week of this supervised big project by our ambitious "young growers." Slowly but surely, things are picking up here! Admittedly, we're still struggling a bit with the spontaneous "hydroponic switch" of the two at the beginning of the grow. 😅 In other words: We're looking at some somewhat wild plants that do look quite frayed in places. However, this is also because the damage needs to grow out first. But I firmly believe: That's how you really learn. 😊😅 Last week, I introduced the two to the wonderful world of LST (Low Stress Training). I must admit, I haven't done this too often myself – so it's a learning experience for me as well. To put it simply, we're trying to guide the plant to develop a uniform growth instead of the classic "Christmas tree look" with a main cola and a few side buds. Instead, we want to achieve as evenly distributed flower sites as possible. In the end, you achieve a similar effect as topping – just with significantly less stress for the plant and without much snipping. 😊 So: Two wires are stretched. The first is attached opposite the side that is being tied down. It serves as a counter wire to secure the stem and prevent it from bending or being pulled out when tied down. The second wire on the opposite side is used to pull the plant as far down towards the ground as possible without touching it (risk of mold!). This signals the lower shoot tips to grow vertically upwards. Later on, you can also guide these with wire in the desired direction. The little ones have taken to the training well and are starting to orient themselves back towards the light. Here and there, I've also removed a fan leaf if it was shading the aforementioned shoot tips. As a small measure, I brought them some of my LAB (see main report), which was sprayed and watered onto the plants at a ratio of 1:100. Since we're applying living organisms, it's always advisable to set the nozzle to large droplets to avoid damaging the microorganisms. It’s sprayed about half an hour before the lights come on, so they can settle on the leaves. That should be it as always. German_GrowLab Hello, dear Grow community! Welcome to the 4th and also the 1st week of flowering in this supervised large project. We are now about 50% into the flowering stage of this run. The little ones have survived the early overwatering and accepted the LST well last week. However, they have lost quite a bit of time due to the former, which is quite fatal for autos. Nevertheless, I am still quite optimistic that we will come to a relatively nice conclusion here. Additionally, we have one plant per strain that is performing significantly better, so with a bit of luck, we might still get a nice representative from both genetics. 😊 Since we have lost quite a bit of time due to the initial overwatering, we need to – like in any serious bodybuilding career – "help out" a bit... (As needed.) 😉 Instead of the classic tren cycle, this time phytohormones are the magic word! The ladies will receive these in the form of an initial filling of my anaerobic manure, which I hope to apply as foliar before turning on the lamp tomorrow. The manure provides various growth-regulating phytohormones and biostimulants, including triacontanol from alfalfa, cytokinins from seaweed, and hormone-active metabolic products from lactic acid bacteria. 💪 Together, they can positively influence metabolism, root development, cell division, and plant growth once again. I went into more detail about the further effects in my Season 2025 blog (Week 12). There you will also find the recipe. Whether the little ones accept the "doping" well and whether we end up with a presentable result remains to be seen in the coming weeks. 😅 This will be paired with the holy trinity of plant strengthening (Epsom salt, fulvic acid, and Siapton) applied as foliar. This weekend, we will have to get to work again and transport the box to the basement so that we can hopefully maintain the VPD during the upcoming heatwave and not lose too many terps. 😁 Until then! German_GrowLab Hello, dear Grow community! Welcome to week 5 / flowering week 2 of this supervised major project. And I'm actually in a better mood again after visiting the guys this week. Well, they didn't move the box to the basement, which is why the little ones were partly roasting at a cozy 30+ °C. Aaaaand we are slowly getting the care under control. And of course, I claim a large part of the credit for my heroic "booster" efforts last week. 😏 But I don't want to take away from the two of them that they are really starting to step it up. 😁 So I look at the ladies and their development so far with a bit of pride. Especially the one Orange Diesel is really putting on an impressive performance before it finally transitioned into flowering. Just like our flagship Mephisto's Wedding. So we've managed to get almost everyone back on track. And the others? … well, I can't work miracles, folks. 😅 To make sure we don't lose pace now, Dad stopped by again with some goodies – consisting of a lentil SST, which is supposed to give a little enzyme boost, and some insect frass as a topdress. The latter brings several benefits. The chitin contained in it, a main component of the exoskeletons of insects and nematodes as well as the cell walls of many fungi, alerts the plant to potential pests. These chitin fragments trigger an enhanced immune response. This initiates a series of metabolic processes in the plant that can lead to increased production of secondary metabolites, among other things. And that's exactly what we're after! 💪 From now on, it's all about staying on the ball and – if all goes well – finally moving the box to a cooler place in the next few days. 😁 I'll keep you updated… Until then! German_GrowLab Hello, dear Grow community! To week 6 / flowering week 3 of this supervised big project. This week we'll keep it short and sweet here too. We managed to turn the ship around and are now sailing towards an acceptable result – sticking with the ship metaphors. I mean, sure, the guys have promised me for the third time to move the box to the cool basement, and yet the Spider Farmer app shows me temperatures beyond 30 °C. But that's just how they are, the boys. 😇 I think, as long as we are still mostly at the beginning or with the two early ones in mid-flower, I want to keep things in perspective. I know from not too long ago that in the stressful student life, things can come up. 😁 It's not that dramatic... And in their defense, I must fairly acknowledge that they have diligently followed my request to lollipop the little ones. And I don't want to be that guy. With this little extra effort, they've unlocked a small boost for me in the form of a flowering AACT. Consisting of: Alfalfa Kelp Nettle Gypsum Field horsetail Spirulina Insect frass Cane sugar Bat guano Amino acids as well as fulvic and humic acids Epsom salt Azomite Bee pollen Neem cake Mycorrhizal fungi Rhizobacteria ...All of this is supposed to nourish the microorganisms in the soil and support the plants in the formation of secondary plant compounds – including terpenes. 💪 With this little extra love, the little ones should now get through the flowering phase just fine. Of course, I couldn't resist taking a little sniff test of the two advanced ladies during my home visit. The Mephisto's Wedding has a nice cakey note and is already sporting a decent layer of resin. However, it seems her yield might be a bit on the low side – but that's not too relevant. 😅 The Orange Diesel brings exactly the desired diesel funk. It reminds me of a freshly opened can of new tennis balls, which, by the way, I think is one of the best smells on God's beautiful earth. 😋 Maybe the gentlemen will finally take pity and move the box to the basement after all.
