From the Archives............1998
Converted a lay-down deep freeze freezer....my parents was using it to store cattle feed on the farm. Installed HID light in lid of freezer, Ballast installed in the cavity of the freezer's compressor. Pretty slick.....just plug it in and it could sit in garage, or basement and no one was the wiser.
One tricky part was heat and ventilation....it was a work in progress, but it got dialed in through out the grow cycle.
Used 2-liter sod bottles, cut off the bottoms and screwed the tops into a PCV frame that acted as a stand and drainage outlet. Nothing fancy on the soil mix....extra perlite for water retention. Had drip lines to water top of soils level, and filter down and drain out into the bottom of freezer. The freezer acted as the water reservoir. So it work like a hydro system, with soil medium......not the best, but it was experimental.
Harvest was prosperous, yielded just under a pound.
