Blue Dream + GG#4 first SCROG

These clones I got are pretty sad looking. The blue dream looks much better than the gorilla glue but I’m pretty confident I can bring em back to life once they get some time to settle into the DWC buckets. Excited to grow these 2 strains and I’ve heard they are stretchers so should be good candidates for my first scrog attempt. Using tap water for the first time so no nutes for the first week. Will start feeding with week1 nutes next week.

Starting to see some new growth and all of the new growth looks great. The first GG #4 clone wasn't making any progress so I pulled it and got a new clone in there with better roots. So now that plant is technically a week behind but since I'm doing tap water, I'm going to try going another week without nutes so hopefully I can get them both on the same schedule. But overall they are starting to pick up and aren't looking nearly as sad as they were when I got them. With the exception of the new GG#4 clone as she's also looking a bit sad but it's her first week in the bucket so that should change over the next week as she gets her roots into the res. :)

Both plants are starting to look WAY better now. Started the first week of nutes and the plants are loving it. A small amount of nute burn so I'll pull back on the nutes a little next week. All the new growth is looking great but near the end of the week I noticed what looks like a calmag deficiency in the blue dream. I'm using tap water so was told that I wouldn't need calmag but now that I'm seeing the deficiency, I'm going to start adding it next week. I'll probably start at 50% of the normal dose to see how they handle it since there is some in the tap water to begin. But overall the are starting to take off and looking great. I topped the Blue Dream plant and will wait another couple days before topping the GG as it's a little behind in growth.

WOW!!! So... I left for a weekend to visit some family. So all-told I left the plants for 3.5 days and they absolutely exploded! I came back and both plants are super dense and tons of new growth. Pretty amazing how they grow over a couple days. The GG#4 is no longer a "week behind" in fact.... the GG has a larger canopy than the blue dream now. The Blue dream grew super dense and straight up, while the GG grew out and thinner. Very cool to see the difference in strains side-by-side. Added calmag this week and no more deficiencies showing. So that's a good sign and happy that I was able to identify it early on. I added the scrog to the tent and started using it to LST the plants outward. The GG is perfect for this but the blue dream is a little frustrating as it's so dense and the branches aren't as long so they don't "stretch" under the screen as nicely. But I have to say.... I absolutely LOVE this scrog. I had so much fun making the plants spread out under the screen and can already tell that this is my favourite way to train the plants. I'm just having way more fun doing this than trying to find other ways to tie the plants down to the buckets. The plants are definitely starting to smell now. I think these strains are going to be stinky compared to the Northern Lights I grew last time. :)

Another amazing week. The GG#4 is growing so fast it's unbelievable! This week I let the plants grow up through the net then did some defoliation and training to move all the branches back below the scrog. So far so good. I'll probably switch the flower next week. I just hope I didn't wait too long since the GG is already taking up so much space. But I didn't want the Blue Dream to be too small so we'll see how it goes.

Well.... The GG#4 just wont slow down. haha. So I switched to flower and this first week of flower it's almost doubled in size already. I haven't had a strain stretch like this before so I'm slightly underprepared for it and that mostly has to do with the fact that the Blue Dream is still staying nice and compact. When I did my research on strains, it looked like Blue Dream and GG#4 would be a good match with similar growth. So my best guess is that the genetics I got in the Blue Dream aren't terribly great. Either that or I just got a crazy kush-like phenotype! Either way I'm focusing most of my efforts on the GG these days as it's just keeps stretching and stretching. I've been training and defoliated almost every day cause the GG just keeps bouncing back like crazy. Oh and I should also mention that the GG is THIRSTY. She drank and entire gallon of water in 1 day which seems like alot to me in the first week of flower. But this is only my second grow so I've got plenty to learn still. :) But other than running out of room already in the first week of flower, everything seems to be going great. Unfortunately, with the GG growing so fast, this scrog may end up... not being a true scrog as I basically have nowhere to tuck some of these branches to keep them under the scrog. And some have grown all the way to the sides of the tent and up now, so nowhere to put them. Might need to supercrop them later once they stop stretching but we'll see how the next week goes.
