Well, this is my first attempt at doing two different auto strains at the same time. Also, I've read that I can have auto's of different age in the same space. This seems appealing to me as I am limited to one 4.5'x2.5' tent, so I figured I'd give it a go. I already have an 8 week old Candy Cane going, but didn't want to wait til she was done to start a new batch.
Gradually ramped up the nutrients over the last few waterings, they seem to be responding well. I have a few days left till I harvest their tent mate and then they will be under the better quality lights directly, I'm hoping to see big changes over the next couple weeks.
I'm seeing nice steady, daily growth now. I don't think they are going to be very tall plants, but they are really bushy. Defoliated a lot of the big stuff up top a couple days ago and they are responding nicely.
Hahahaha, The tent stinks of skunk already! and we're just getting started.
These two have been blowing up pretty good over the last week. I've had to remove a ton of leaves from all over both of the plants. Everything is getting good light now and developing nicely. They stink more every day lol... I love the skunky stench!
I've made the complete transition to Remo noots this past week so we'll see how it goes... all my girls seem to be liking it so far.
It's been close up to this point but the Dinafem Blue Cheese has surpassed the Canuk Cheese in size and development. There are way more bud sites and they are farther along than the Cheese... but I'm pretty sure the Cheese stinks more. Oh the glorious stench in there!
Things are starting to get exciting in the tent! These two are starting to produce some nice buds.
There has been very little upward growth in either plant, but they have both filled in nicely. I think the Dinafem is still producing better than the Canuk, the plants are actually quite identical in stature, just more bud development on the Blue Cheese. Oh yeah.. and they smell awesome!
These two are coming along nicely, I've ramped up the nutrients a bit over the last couple feedings.
I can see new bud growth every day now, and they smell amazing!
I think I've had a Phosphorus deficiency going on for a while now. I really started to notice the purple stems about a week ago. There has been a lot of under growth dying and falling away. The Canuk Cheese seems to be taking it the hardest out of the two. It seems the Dinafem Blue Cheese is farther ahead in maturity, she has about 50-60% brown pistils and I am starting to notice the odd amber trich... I don't think she will go another week. The Cheese however, is probably more like 7-12 days out and I'd really like to try and turn her around and get the most out of my harvest. I think I am just going to call this my flush period for the Blue Cheese and prepare for harvest.
I've flushed both plants last night with 3x5g PH stable water until my run off tests resembled the water going in. The coco seemed to be alkaline when I used my three-way meter and acidic when I tested using the PH strips, so I'm not sure WTF is going on exactly. I tend to trust the strips more than the crappy 3-way meter. So, it seems I have my coco back in the mid 6 PH range somewhere.
I am buying a proper PH and EC meter this week, so any brand recommendations are welcomed! There seems to be a LOT of crap out there and I'd like to only have to buy these once lol.
Any advice on what exactly is going on and the best course of action would be appreciated! 👊
The grow went really good overall, things kind of went off the rails at the end which resulted in the plant coming down a bit early... Nothing to do with the quality of the genetics... Guaranteed it's all my fault as I don't have proper testing equipment yet. I'm pretty sure I was dealing with a Phosphorus deficiency and didn't act on it til way too late.
I just took her down, so I only have wet weights so far.. but will update again when all the numbers are in. I should also mention that what I did take from this plant looks and smells incredible! I ended up with a lot more small under developed buds than I would have cared for but oh well... more budder!
I would definitely like another shot at this strain, I can see the potential for large amounts of amazing stinky buds!
Wet weight = 208g wet bud = 92g wet trim.
Well sad to say, it was so close... another 7-10 days and she would have been finished properly. I may or may not have jumped the gun in pulling her down, but I didn't want to take a chance on losing her. I am not sure exactly what was going on, pretty sure a phosphorus deficiency. I pulled a bunch of yellow and dying under growth from it last night when I flushed it and when I woke up there was a bunch more so I pulled that too. A couple hours later the plant was looking bagged and had a bunch more yellow and dying growth. It seemed this was not going to bounce back from this so I took her to slaughter.
I'm really happy with the results so far.. The buds are fat and sticky and smell amazing! She went 75 days from germination. A couple mistakes on my part have no doubt reduced my harvest a bit, but I'm not complaining. I have another one started already.
I would definitely recommend Blue Cheese Auto for anyone looking for an easy to grow, nice yielding strain.
Update: It's only been two days on the drying rack, but I had to QC a nug this morning. Wow!! I am so impressed with the way this strain tastes! I am not really great at nailing down exact terpene profiles, all I can say is this has a sweet, kind of fruity taste and reminds me of breathing Unicorn breath. I am REALLY happy I have another one started and can see this strain being a regular in the rotation.
Overall was a really easy strain to grow, would definitely recommend to anybody looking for some top notch buds. Very resinous, dense buds... smells incredible! Can't wait to fire some up and taste it... more to come.
Firstly thank you for starting your diary on this great platform 🙌
Secondly nice selection of autos and the 2 you are growing auto blue cheese and auto cheese have very comparable finishing times 👍
And finally yes with autos you can have many plants at varying stages of growth as your lights are always on the same light cycle (typically 18/6 or more preferred with autos 20/4) so you could have 1 plant at say day 7 one at day 21 one at 45 and one ready to harvest at day 70👍
We will be following along and watching with interest mate 👊 again thank you for documenting your grow on the GD platform🙏
Good luck with your dinafem I'm doing 11 dinafem cheese clones a bit gutted I didn't do them from seed and do blue cheese one of my favourite strains growing up happy growing mate hope you all the best
@DinafemSeeds, Thanks for the advice and interest in my humble grow. That is a GREAT idea lol... I see a four plant rotation in my near future! I've only grown a couple auto's so far, but I've been happy with the results. I don't see going back to photoperiod strains anytime soon.
i am seeing a slow progress bro, not saying that to discourage you, you are doing very good job. Try adding mycorhizae and B-52 from advanced nutes, your roots need some help to speed up the process of growing and absorbing nutes and so on
GREw out a CanuK Auto cheese but effed it up by super cropping and having some light issues. Still got some good smoke out of her though. Diary is on here check it out . And as for the four plants at different stages... that’s what i have going right now and is more fun bc you get to harvest a lot more often
@AlaskanGrownCaliRaised, Nice, yeah something has gone off the rails with my Cheese.. It seems to be dying by the hour now. I just cleaned up a bunch of dead foliage, as I also did last night and an hour later there is a whole bunch more. I'm just gonna pull her down rather than risk anything else happening. I will begin the harvest diary for the Canuk later.
I like the four week between plants idea.. I was trying every three weeks, but I think that might be a little ambitious with my current setup.
@Bigpun, Thanks again... now that the big girl is out of the tent these two move under the good lights, they seem to be off to a pretty good start though.
and i would defoliate those biggest fan leaves, help light to reach smaller branches and you will have better grow. check my grows you will get the point =)
