This week had a few ups and downs. I learned a valuable lesson about overwatering. Early in the week I gave water and nutes when it was not necessary resulting in some algae growth on the top soil. In order to curb this I put construction paper over the soil to deprive the algae of light. The following day I noticed a fly in the tent which upon googling (classic google scare) I thought it might be a fungus gnat. The construction paper wasn’t working as efficiently as I had hoped so I removed 1-2 inches of top soil and put down fresh soil. I held off on watering a few days and as it turns out the fly was more than likely a common house fly. All problems from here seemed to subside. At the end of the week I transplanted the seedlings to a 5 gallon pot. Judging by the root mass I could have held off on transplanting but as these are autos I was concerned they may become root bound and prematurely flower. I watered with nutrients again after the transplant and they seem to be happy. Hoping the new pots will aid in accelerating the growth a bit as the clock is always ticking with autos. Thanks for checking out my grow diary!
