Help ! ...Im struggling with my Laughing Buddah grow and its its no laughing matter.
I veged her for 7 weeks on18/6 ( wish I had gone to 9) then flipped to 12/12 and thats now 9 weeks of flower . She is slow and steady this girl, but its been a pleasure with her all the long way .
I was wondering if anybody has grown his strain and can help me as I'm unsure if she is getting close to cooked yet.
To me she looks under done but I have noticed the heads are not as sticky and the aroma has softened somewhat . I have been looking at the trichomes whith my spy glass but I dont see alot of amber . Do the changes I described mean anything ...Is she ready or should I go a little longer ...anyone ?
Please.
PS...She is a bit of an ugly girl but Im gonna love her anyway cause I'm like that .
Its just on 10 weeks since flipping to 12/12 . A little over a week ago I beleived she was nearly ready because I noticed a change in the aroma and the leaves were way less sticky to touch and growth seamed to have stalled . So I started to flush . I think I jumped the gun . This last week I began to feed her again with PK boost as foliar spray and she responded . She is really starting to put on the weight again and flower is filling in nicely. Im going to keep on eye on her and I think I will let her go to 75 days and then see how she is doing. Some of the flower tops are getting a little sideways under weight so may have to prop these up if she continues to fill out . I must say I have really enjoyed this grow and Im impressed with how bushy she is for a small plant . Thinking the yeild may be a little better than I was expecting.
This last photo shoot before I take the chainsaw to her . Two more days of flush and we call it a day . No sign of any amber Trichomes but plenty cloudy . Its OK if she is a day or two under done . She will be a bit lively thats all . Its been a long grow for me (17 weeks ) 7 weeks Veg and 75 days flower when I chop.
I wished I had veged her two more weeks . I topped her at the 6th node because I was worried about the stretch in my confined grow space . I did not need to worry . Stretch was only about 35-40 %. She topped out at 69cm (28") well short of Barneys suggested height .
All-in-all a very pleasing grow . Very impessive plant to grow actually and I would recomend this plant to any level of grower. The result was especially pleasing given the crappy nutrients I have to work with . Will wait and see how it tastes and smokes but I will be growing this again for sure .
The Plant -LAUGHING BUDDHA
Sativa Jamacia/Laos .
This Pheno was Low Growing and Bushy while in Veg. Somewhat scruffy by nature but She Produced Lots Bud Sites . Easy to Shape for simple SGROG Grow.
The Grow -
I would encourage any level grower to grow this Femmised Photo Strain . It is an Easy Grow and the ony requirement I found is Patience . Its a Longish Tropical Growing Cycle. But It is "Worth the Wait" in my opinion .
A Naturally Bushy Pheno that I was able to Trim and Train into a plant with a Broad Canopy . It was a pleasure to grow and a Fair Result in terms of Quantity and Quality .
The Dry and Cure -
Drying went well . Was 9 days drying in warn dry ventilation . Proceed to Trim and Cure now . Its work . What can I say ?
The Smoke -
Smoke from Pre-Cure Fresh Cut Flower is a little raw and not the best.
However ..."Needs Must"
Taste is Tropical, Floral ,Sweet with a hint of Menthol or Mint . Very Fruity Fresh Flavour from the Vape . But this may change as it Cures.
First Test was Vape and the high was a gentle afair with enough of a Creative Happy Buzz to enjoy with a beer while watching Footy and Chilling after a hard day of Golf . Needless to say it was delicous end to a great day. So we got off to a good start together . Happy Days !
Next I Smoked a Joint. The Warm Wave Effect is felt comming on imediately and gives a Happy and Calm lift in mood. You can get things done if thats required . Its Not a Heavy Stone I feel it is Up-Creative Active leading to Calm Content at the end . Has the feel of a strong strain and the potential get up and kick if over indulged . I cant wait now for Cure to happen because my taste buds are watering and waiting ....More Patience is required .
Will report more after Cure .
Hi @Buschwaker! First of all, really nice job! Secondly, do not harvest yet!!!!!! Due to Sativa domination she needs more time! Wait till you see around 70% cloudy 30% amber ratio and then go!!!
@Bushwacker, I have never grown this one. I wanna grow it is my plan as well. It is Sativa you need more time do not rush. If you are not sure cut a bit off and try. I would leave it longer. It also depends on the circumstances how you grow outdoor, indoor, how you train and feed so... it is different for everyone.
@Ferenc, Thanks for the compliment. I think your advice is sound . Just checking Barney's grow advisory and they do say 70-75 days and Im a little short of that .
Its not that I'm impatient its just that this is the longest grow I done so I'm in unfamiliar territory.
The changes in aroma and stickyness had me wondering if she was ready . Have you grown this strain yourself ?
I see other diaries and the harvest times appear to varry considerably ....some are like 20 weeks or more .
Hi Ferenc
I am going to let her mature a little more . I have noticed that some Sativa strains dont show a lot of amber trichomes but simply turn opaque. So I will watch closely and report so others growing this strain can learn .
The pure genetics of this strain had me excited from the begining . Jamacian and Laos landrace parents ...Yum !.
That reminds me that the strongest Sativa I even smoked was the Buddah Sticks or Thai Sticks we had back in the mid to late 70's. These so called sticks were fluffy amber brown Sativa buds on their stalks and tied around a bamboo split and dipped or painted with sticky hash oil . These were truely pshycedelic and puts paid to the modern myth that todays weed is stronger that anything before.
If Laughing Budda is half as good as as these little beauties from the past then I will be overjoyed . Cudos to Barneys Farm for their geneitic playfullness .
I cant wait .
