Going to start from the very very beginning of this. Why? Because this is my maiden voyage of NoTill, and I want to document every detail that I can. "Very Very beginning" term is used because after my hours of reading and research (Credits mostly go to Clackamas Coots), this is about building a living soil, and letting that soil grow the plant. So the better I can maintain the beneficial living organisms, and balance the nutrients for both the micro-organisms and the plant to survive and thrive.
I know I have marked this as veg week 1, but I am actually starting the NoTill soil at this stage as well as Chocolate Mint OG clones by Humbolt Seeds. This diary isn't so much as for yield and rating this strain, as I can already rate it based on previous hydroponic grows and that in my personal opinion this is a really decent quality smoko. This gives me a bench mark to see how the plant responds to NoTill and the flavours and potency compared to hydroponically grown.
So I hope that some experienced NoTill or Living Soil growers actually cross paths with this diary and can provide constructive criticism for inputs or methods that I might be steering the wrong course with during this venture. If this works out to what I have read thru numerous literature, I will be continuing this Organic growing for both cannabis as well as my edible garden.
So for now, I have 24 clones of Chocolate Mint OG in my TurboKloner in plain RO water that has not been pH'd and heated with a 50W aquarium heater set to 20C. The Mother was foliar sprayed 8 days before taking the clones with a 5:2 blend of fulvic acid and fresh aloe vera. Meaning that in one container I have mixed the fulvic acid as per the recommended rate of 3ml per litre of clean water (I use rainwater). And in another container I have mixed 1/4 cup of fresh aloe vera filet per 4 litres of water, then mixed the two at a ratio of 5:2 and sprayed the mother plant 8 days before taking clones. After taking clones from the mother and placing them in the TurboKloner (no rooting powders or gels used), I then sprayed them with the same 5:2 fulvic aloe blend. I took the humidity dome off for photo purposes, but I am leaving the dome on to keep the humidity up on the little girls. The clones as of today (yes photo was taken today) are already 6 days old
I will be adding to the comments within the same week on any mixes, updates, and/or changes that I have made, such as things like soil build, top dressing mixes, teas, etc etc
Just made my organic fertiliser blend and will be using this at 1/4 cup every two weeks, This is a slightly altered version of BuildASoil Craft Blend, so the NPK ratio should be about the same 4-4-2
100g Kelp Meal
100g Neem Cake
100g Alfalfa Meal
100g High-P Seabird Guano
100g Golden Flax Seed Meal
100g Crustacean Meal
100g Fish Meal
300g Bone Meal
300g Spent Coffee Grounds
100g Langbeinite
100g Wheat Bran
100g Azomite
100g Palagonite
100g Gypsum
100g Oyster Shell Flour
Made a batch of Coot's NoTill soil which includes.
25 litres of Coco coir (rinsed)
25 litres of 50/50 blend of bought organic compost and home grown worm castings.
25 litres of aeration mix (Pumice stones, rice hulls, perlite and left over hydroton)
obviously this gives me 75 litres of base mix (or 20 gallons), which equals just over 2.5 cubic feet of soil mix.
So to this I added
1 1/2 cups Neem Cake
1 1/2 cups Kelp Meal
1 1/2 cups Crustacean Meal
2 1/2 cups Malt Barley Flour
1 1/2 cups Gypsum
10 cups Palagonite
15 cups Bio-char
hand blended this and put 50 litres of the mix in a 58 litre cloth smart pot
No-till grown Chocolate Mint OG 👌
Good luck with the grow my friend👍, let's see what you can do with this legendary emerald triangle treasure 🤗
