Day 66 from seed for Black Gum. I have heat and a new furnace! This is a huge help as my veg. tent is like five degrees warmer. The plants have has five days adjusting back and are starting to look healthier. I had topped and selectively defoliated this one earlier this week so it just needs some time to fill in. I expect it to be reaping the reward of its new soil this week.
Side note: though spraying the moonshine seemed to discourage and kill gnats and spider mites in my tents, my moonshine source unfortunately works away from home for days at a time and could not overcome the time away - it is only effective with persistent, regular spraying. So, he was forced to resort to more proactive methods which I reaped the leftover/tail end reward, i.e. he came over and gave me some. 1) Grub Grenade - ordered online. Hard to tell if anything is even active, nor if it even works. We are skeptical but it was immediate help for him. (They have a website grubgrenade .com) 2) at the recommendation of Hellish, he ventured to Halifax Seed which is a gardening and specialty cannabis shop. They ordered him predatory mites - Phytoseiulus persimilis, by BioBest Sustainable Crop Management. These guys were definitely active, and visible! Good success for my friend, and a good proactive clean sweep for me. I can say confidently I have eradicated any problems, especially spider mites.
@@BeanswithPork, thx mate that make perfect sense. I'm well aware (well, as a layman can be) of the air pollution outside (I live in South East Asia). I will definitely try the bud wash some time soon even though I grow in a sealed and controlled environment.
@TheUsualSuspect, not stupid, as its a counter intuitive and a newer step in harvest. I listed my containers in the description - first lemon juice/baking soda/room temp water, and then a container of just room temperature water. I say dip and swirl because you aren’t trying to scrub trichomes off. But, the trichomes don’t just fall off either otherwise rain and storms would wash THC away.
If you search online there are some that wash with warm or cold water, and some use a hydrogen peroxide mix. I’m approaching it conservatively so just two containers that aren’t harsh.
Haven’t tried it on outdoor bud yet, but I bet you’d be surprised by the amount of mold/dirt/dust/particles are floating around outside.
@@BeanswithPork, thx for educating me 🙏 and sorry for being a so retarded student, but I assume dip in containers with water?
I was taught that the only stupid question is the one not asked 🙃
Is this Black Gum strain the same as BlackBerry Gum?
Also, may I ask why some growers veg for 14 weeks and others 2 weeks? Is it due to personal preference, strain, plant size, grow medium, or..?
Myself, I veg 4-6 weeks usually, I only grows in hydroponics cause it suits me best.
@@BeanswithPork, thx for clarifying. Yes, I remember a couple of plants I grew few years ago, they were autos but took 24 weeks to finish. Must have been some seeds that been dipped in gamma rays or something. lol
First n last time I grew autos...
@TheUsualSuspect, basically all the things you listed. This plant happened to take X number of weeks to get to a point where it was big and I had room, with constant rotation I don’t try to be consistent and just adjust based on my current grows.
No, this strain is Black Domina x BubbleGum.
Excellent photography and obviously the plants are looking great as well. The leaf growth shouldnt be an issue as long as the bud sites have access to some light. Going to follow along and I wish you a great harvest!
