I had a spare bean of these so I put it in the garden during the winter, it didn't do much just one straw thin stem and 3 grams of bud, but I can see she'd gonna be a cutie. I decided to put two in a pot because I treat it as a single plant. As usually I don't know what to expect but she appears to be quite vigorous to begin which is usual for Dutch Passion.
I've started them off in my new method which is dry beans (no soaking first) directly into an eazy plug what has been readied. They usually pop in 4 days which these did.
I was able to top both of these at day 14 at the third node which is the earliest I've ever been able to top, and I also took off all the ready to explode new leaves, this is more severe than I've ever dared, but it just seemed right for these. This completely debunks the myth that topping and/or defoliating slows them down because this one is flowering at 4 weeks, just two weeks after topping! and clearly flowering at that, which is the earliest I've ever had flowers.
I was in two minds about whether to put a net up because I never know how they are going to grow so I put up a light net that would not limit me too much if I needed to change it.
I'm amazed at how fast these flowers are forming, they look like they'll be nuggety without to many leaves. A bit tricky to bend because she's so stocky. With two plants I'm not afraid to cut of any branches that are too crowded or facing the wrong direction. The flowers are already looking very pretty with their flecks of purple which very white pistils, as well as British racing car green leaves.
She was so vigorous that there were little flowers coming out of some of the centres of the fan leaves, and one of the flower stems split by itself into two,
So this one is all up to date now.
This is two weeks of updates, from week 6 to week 8 and this is the fastest strain yet. Nice berry smell, I hope she stays fruity. Starting to really pack on the buds now. I've hardly had to do anything to these. Some of the older leaves are getting a bit scuzzy, but the buds look nice. Two different phenotypes, one is very purple the other one not so much.
These have ripened up real fast and they got chopped yesterday right at week 9 which is my fastest yet. There is a nice berry smell but it appears it won't be that pronounced when they dry. The leaves are unique, with a meaty darkish green on one side and a deep ruby red or brighter red underneath creating a very dramatic effect. Basically she looks just like the bud I grew in the garden just before. The other one in the tub is much less pronounced with the red colouring.
Overall these were super easy to grow, the leaves became quite ratty but that's because I now see she was ripening fast. It could be easy to mistake it for some disease. There may be a bit of stress due to high temperatures but not enough to stress me out. The other Jedi Kush is doing it easy in the same conditions. Hardly any need to defoliate, and they did not grow too branchy. Hard to see how a newbie could go wrong with this one in a hydro system done right.
Will do a report next week. Looks like about somewhere from 7 to 9 zips. But I may be surprised.
Well this one set new records for me for rapidity of development, up until now I didn't think it was possible for me to get a plant finished in 10 weeks. I have two in the pot but I would have got the same amount from one. I'm moving back to single pots for a while now.
This was super easy to grow, it started to flower fast and did not get too branchy, very well behaved, it's impossible to go wrong with this. Big juicy buds and and she looks very pretty on the plant and when dried. There is no herby taste like there was with say the Think Big, even though it's a very chunky plant with fairly thick stems in the buds by comparison to other strains.
There is a delightful blueberry or mulberry flavour, not overpowering and very clean. The resin is there if you smoke this, but she does not make a good rosin, I think this is due to the meaty structure, although she is all calyx and very few leaves. The fast development was the stand out feature here and the purple heads of course as well.
