Sweet Z(kittle)z - Hydro Grow

I started by letting the seeds stay in tap water for 24 hours. After that I placed them in soaked rockwool cubes and kept them warm under a small LED light. They popped after 24 hours. Impressive RQS! First week they got a light dosage of nutrients, but my PH-pen was a little off and because of that the PH got a little too high for a few days. I noticed something was off and changed the reservoir and recalibrated the pen. And back on track. Pictures taken around day 7. TY for stopping by, Peace!

They have been very well the last couple of weeks. Some clawing appeared, but it was just one or two leaf tips. PH and EC seem to be balanced. Very vigorous growth and good growth patterns. I topped/fimmed her a few days prior to taking pictures. LST to some of the tops. They are ready to flower 😊

This week was a success. I have been raising the nutrient level step-by-step throughout the week. The roots are in the reservoir now and she has been drinking a lot, so I added 10 liters of stronger solution every 2nd day. 1. add raised the EC level to 1.35 (after 2 days it was 1.15) 2. add raised the EC level to 1.45 (after 2 days it was 1.3) - 10ml of Boost added 3. add raised the EC level to 1.65 - Liquid Silicone and Oxygen added (low levels). 10ml of Boost added Added one more 400w HPS light. She seems to be more than ok. I like her very much 😍

I was away for a few weeks and I had someone to look after those girls. He came by every second or every third day. When I came back I was positively surprised. They have gone from small to huge oppose to being totally dead. Thank you 🙏 If I was there I'd tied them down much more, but I could not asked that from my caretaker. We had some temperature bouncing going on while I was away. I hope the cold nights and warm days, without someone looking 24/7 after them, did not make too much damage. I see some stretching going on.. Some purpling on the leaf stems too. Phosphorus deficiency? My EC pen broke down and I have to get a new one, fast. The 2 missing weeks targeted EC levels were around 1.8. Normal dosage of nutrients were used from the Canna grow guide. This weeks targeted EC levels are around 2.0-2.1. There was some PH rising on past few days before I came home. PH rising EC lowering, right? Have been giving some more juices this week. Smells good 😎

This week I finally found out that this run is not a success. Cold nights and messed up nutrient levels made their cut. The plant is stretched out and the buds are leafy due to nitrogen overdose. When I got my new EC-meter, I found out that the EC levels in my reservoir were way too high for this stage, peaking at 2.4. It is obvious now that this came with a price of lesser yield and more work trimming. Have been cutting down the EC levels to around 1.7 average this week. Seems like I have to cut some more nutrients. Especially nitrogen. PH levels were unstable due to the water not circulating. The Wilma system pipes were plugged and I just opened the main pipes tap to get the circulation go on. Still water, some degraded leaves in the room and empty beer cans nearby invited some uninvited guests. I had to use a vacuum cleaner for about 2 hours and some in the coming days to get fungus gnats out of my roots and out of the room. I see one or two sometimes, but the worse is over. Naturally I cleaned up the room and got a fan to blow over the roots, under the canopy. One of the plants seem to be more affected by the whole situation than the other. The weaker one was weaker right from the beginning. Few more weeks to go 😴😂

EC and PH levels are still rising a bit. By today I have lowered the EC levels to 1.2. PH was 99% of the time under 6.5. Temps have been stable and I have lowered the night temperature a bit, I might lower it some more trough-out the week. She is smelling very sweet and after touching the buds or even the stem, my fingers are smelling very much like Zkittlez. Yummy! And what a glue? Will be very special for sure 👍

This is it. She is ready to go. She did swell up good before the harvest. After the last update: PH around 5.8 EC 0.6-0.8 Reservoir solution was topped off with PH'd and Canna Rhizo and Zym combination solution for the last week or so. The smell got really strong and it was a BIG problem for some days. I love it later, I know..

Sweet ZZ 54 days flowering 2 plants: 250 grams + 75 grams Harvested 2 plants, but I only include 1. The other one was overfertilized and produced only 75 grams of dry, leafy buds. The reason for this unhappy situation was the lack of flushing between the veg and flower stage. I was on vacation for more than 2 weeks and this is when it happened with somebody else taking care of them. Would not be fair to include that one in the final results, because it is not the strains or breeders fault it happened. Overall this grow was OK for my taste, but I could do much, much better. I still have some of those seeds left so I might try it again some time near future.
