New tent with 360 access to allow easier scrogging and pruning.
Soaked seeds in a mixture of calmag and rhizotonic for 48 hours, then planted in a small pot with coco. Popped above the surface 72 hours after soaking.
Repotted again on day 20. Root system had filled out and reached the bottom of the pot.
Topped for the first time today (day 22).
Possible minor magnesium deficiency. Seeing some slightly lighter green between leaf veins. Might be normal. Upped CalMag to 1.5ml/L (which is where it really should have been at the start).
The two plants are showing slightly different phenomes. Plant 1 has looser node spacing and is developing nodes about 3 days ahead of plant 2.
Damaged the growth tips on the right plant when I topped it - it's not developing in the standard 4 main cola way. Topped it again below the damaged growth tips and did the standard 4-way final top. Oh well, we'll see how it goes.
These plants are growing very compact, especially the left plant. I think the left plant was getting too much air flow from the fan and not spreading out. A couple of HUGE fan leaves were covering almost the entire plant and stopping light from getting the developing nodes. So I chopped them to open up the plant to more light.
It's been a strange grow so far.
Plant on the right is growing so much better than the left. I suspect I'll be culling the small plant in a couple of weeks and taking only one plant to harvest.
And then there was one.
The stunted plant reused to grow normally and I decided to cull it and spend all my effort (and nutes!) on this one beautiful plant.
I've got plenty of time to veg and I can fill the screen with the one remaining plant. Hoping to grow my first 1lb plant.
This plant seems to be developing very, very well. It's about to hit the screen so my tucking duties will probably start this week. I'll keep it in veg until the screen is about 80% full - probably about 3-4 weeks away.
This plant continues to impress. The photos don't do justice.
The screen is now in it's final position and I've started to tuck.
Plant is drinking about 4L per day and starting to smell a little bit.
Did a BIG under canopy prune. Everything is looking good.
One more prune in a few days, a couple of days to recover. Switching to 12/12 in about 1 week from today.
One plant in a 4x4 tent. The screen is around 3x3.
Continuing to tuck. I decided to keep in veg for another week - to fill out the corners and allow some more buds to come up. This is the start of the last week of veg.
Not much to report - it's been hot here, tent temps up into the 30°C range at times. I can increase the humidity to compensate. She seems to be coping.
Well, that's the end of veg! Despite the high temps here (up to 32°C in the tent at times) she seems to not be suffering too much.
Another under canopy prune and rearranging of tops yesterday. Today is the last day of 16 hours light. Tomorrow morning I will change the light timer to 12/12 and start with the early flowering nutrient regime.
I learnt a lot about topping and scrogging to apply to my next grow. Mostly about the plant structure, how it grows, how many colas will be produced, where the colas will be, etc.
One week after flipping.
I am so tired of tucking and adjusting and pruning 😁
Everything is going well - apart from too high temps and humidity. I just can't get it low enough here.
The canopy is getting very thick in places and lots of new side shoots are appearing above the net. Some I am chopping, some I am keeping in the hope they turn in to full blown colas. Can you tell I don't really know what I'm doing?
Did the big defoliation and did my best to get the cola heights the same. I really struggle with this phase. Still haven't nailed the scrog training.
After the defoliation, the plant just doesn't look as impressive. I hope some nice big fat colas make up for it.
Tiny bit of leaf tip burn with the stronger nutes. Ignoring.
Temperatures are higher than I would like.
Leaves are showing trichomes now.
Pretty much just waiting now - taking the occasional fan leaves off, watering....waiting, waiting, waiting....
Changed to the Canna "light feeding schedule" because of the leaf tip burn. Was still getting a tiny bit of leaf tip burn on new growth.
Managed to deal with humidity issues (well, much better than before) but that means higher temps.
Stretch is well and truly finished and I'm starting to see the flowers starting to add some size. Today is the first day I took some macros of the flowers for this grow.....sweeeeeeet.
There's not much smell. A little bit of cheesy wet socks. Smell is probably being affected by the high temps.
Hoping for big things in the next 2 weeks.
No huge dramas. Pretty smooth sailing this week. Kinda wish I didn't have the leaf tip burn.
Started PK 13/14 3 days ago and they are starting to bulk up a bit.
Reprogrammed my climate controller to keep the humidity inside optimum VPD range based on whatever temperature the tent is. I can't control the temperature, but I can control the humidity.
Smell starting to increase.
Another week of the high EC - then a couple of weeks of lower EC before the flush.
Been feeding high EC and PK 13/14 this week. Finished today and switched to a lower EC solution.
Nothing much to do except wait now. No dramas.
Smell starting to increase substantially. Buds fattened up and trichomes increasing.
Stinky!
Well, that's all she wrote. Today is harvest day. Nothing to report. Flushed about 5 days ago. 48 hours of flushing, followed by 48 hours of no water, followed by 36 hours of darkness.
I've actually started the chop now but this entry is for the last week of flower.
I'll be back in a week or so with the harvest report.
I did it. A 1lb plant. A very drama free grow. Much better nugs with the increased defoliation. Should have had fewer nodes above the net. I'll do better next time.
