This is my first attempt at a DWC grow and only my second grow overall. (First didn't go too well, but harvested about an ounce) I don't have any pictures from the first two weeks but there usually isn't too much to see anyway. The seeds are from High Society, I germinated 2 each of White Widow and Pure Power Plant feminized. They all popped quickly so I started them in rockwool cubes.

I'm using 1/4 tsp/Gallon for all three parts of the General Hydroponics solution. I used a drip line to get them rooted which all but one had roots hit the water pretty quick. I remember at one point thinking about pulling the stubborn White Widow that wouldn't root, but I'm glad I stuck with it... it turns out being a decent plant. I'm very excited at this point to see the system I put together sustaining life. I was so naive...

I upped the nutrients to 1/2 tsp per gallon and shortly after I developed root rot. Of course I got it, I forgot to paint the lid of my new reservoir lid, so I made a temporary solution with a trash bag. This mistake on my part set me back by two weeks just to regrow the roots. The real problem is that the widows didn't recover as quickly as the PPP and created a huge height differential. Looking back, if I ever get root rot again. I will cut the affected roots off immediately and just focus on new growth.

You can really see the Power Plants pulling ahead of the widow in the background... something I was really hoping to avoid. Looking back I should have chopped the heck out of them at this point, but you live and you learn. Roots are white and healthy again, and I'm finally seeing new growth... I'm happy! I did top everything right before I noticed the root rot.

I've got a pretty small tent so I decided to switch them over to 12/12 and see how much they stretch. I upped the nutrients to about .75 tsp per gallon and the plants seem to be enjoying it.

The power plants have grown into the lights while I was on vacation, I thought it was a good idea to cut off all the tops of the flowering plant as I couldn't go any higher. Another mistake on my part as the plant later puts out male flowers. Almost three weeks have passed since the last photos. Which are about 11 days after I noticed the first female flowers.

It was apparent that the other Power plant was going to suffer the same fate if I didn't upgrade so I bit the bullet and got a bigger tent. I figure I've really enjoyed this so far so I will get some good use out of it. I'm working on stretching the branches out a bit to get better airflow. Power plants are still on the right and Widow is on the left.

I'm really enjoying the new tent, it's so much easier to access everything. I can actually see all the bud sites and can inspect everything. A few days ago I spotted the male flowers and ended up cutting down the largest plant, (PPP) I without a doubt would have missed that male flower in the small tent. My daytime temps have been getting a little higher in this tent for some reason, is 84 F going to be a problem for me? The last plant I grew outdoors I ended up losing quite a bit of the harvest due to bud rot. I don't mind buying a portable AC if I need to, wouldn't that mean I could eliminate the chiller? I appreciate any input. Nutrients are 1 tsp Micro, 1/2 tsp Gro, 1 tsp Bloom.

I added a little more of the Bloom with this weeks water change, the TDS dropped a lot this last week so I figured they could use the nutrients. I scored a huge portable AC for $100 so I took the chiller out of operation for the time being temps are staying around 72 only slightly above the house temp. I'm experimenting with the light angle and also the additional LED to try and get light to all the important parts which is really difficult with the PP cola being a foot taller than the rest. I'm really seeing the limitations of the 400 watt with this grow, and I'll be keeping an eye out for a deal on a 1000 watt ballast now that I know i can control the heat. The White Widows are really looking impressive, and they aren't even getting the amount of light they deserve. The power plant looks like it's going to be slower to mature just by comparing the two. The scent is getting incredibly strong and it's mainly coming from the widows. Today is (11/10) and day 29 since beginning flower so were pretty close to the half way mark. Hopefully I don't screw anything up before then. I'm already planning my next grow in this tent which is going to be 4 clones of the first Widow in this grow. I'm sure I can yield much more with an even canopy. Oh I almost forgot, earlier in the week when I opened the tent I noticed some strange symptoms on the lower leaves of the power plant, so the first thing I did was check the ph. Somehow it dropped in the 4's from yesterday being at 5.7 so I added tap water to top it off instead of RO and adjusted back to 5.7 from there. The leaves affected had round brown spots 1-4mm in diameter and slight yellowing overall. Will a plant show problems from such a quick ph change?

I changed the nutrients again this week, dropping the FloraGro out of the equation altogether. The nugs really fattened up this week on the widows, they are looking and smelling amazing. The power plant still looks like it has a long ways to go even though it has a shorter flowering time, I guess the trichomes won't lie in the end. White Widow 2 is really standing out as the better of the Widows so I'm going to run just that pheno after this grow. I'm thinking between actually vegging them out properly and not burning them in the beginning of flower I can get a much better result. Fingers crossed. Adding Calmag this week as well.

I decided to look at the trichomes today and I noticed about 10% are turning amber already on the widow. I thought i still had almost three weeks to go is this normal? Some of them are still clear. Today is day 41 since starting flower.

Hello dear friend As I often say trichomes know more about breeders. Only they hold the truth of the harvest 😊   A quick reminder of what to know about harvest time When the trichomes are mostly milky and 10% amber is that your plant is mature you can harvest your plant in several times without problems you just have to inspect your buds and take what have reached maturity. 👍 In logic all the buds of the top should be ripe and those of the bottom still a few days. May the strength be with you 💪

Checked the trichomes last week and found a lot of amber so on the advice I received here I immediately drained the nutrients and filled the res with just tap water and today, I harvested. The first widow had about 50% amber I harvested 11/24 and the second widow and power plant I cut down tonight 11/25. Most of the buds on the Power plant I'm going to end up using for bubble hash, they were really airy and leafy and not what I like to smoke. I did clean up some of the denser nugs though. I'm really happy with how the widows came out, despite all the issues I gave them. All the buds from the widows are dense and covered in resin, top to bottom. I'll definitely be growing the second pheno again.

I'm not too impressed with how the final product came out. Even though the nugs seemed really dense when the plant was live, by the time it dried it was very fluffy and airy. I don't blame the genetics but I blame my lack of experience. I kept a clone alive and I will try this pheno again to see if I really was the problem.

I had a little bit of heat damage early in flower, maybe week 2-3, and it severely impacted this plant. I already threw out the clone just based on how the better nugs dried out and smelled/. It's hard to describe the smell other than spicey. i've already disposed of the clone of this pheno, I've no desire to try again.
