Week 1. Vegetation

12/8/19 I placed the seed in a wet paper towel inside a ziplock bag and filled up the bag with air. I set the bag on the window sill. 12/10/19 She sprouted and I placed her in a peat pot with a dome under the light.

Things seem to be on track. Two parts Fox Farms Ocean Forest mixed with one part plain perlite. Watering with ph 6.3-6.5 plain filtered water. 😀 Started three seeds using the paper towel method. The first seed was started on 12/8, It broke due to a fall. So I started two more on 12/12 both seeds made it so far. Yippee!!

This week is going well. Some light damage, I raised the light. Growing faster since I placed a heating mat under the pots. I also began taping the curtain closed and turning the lights off for 4 hours each day. I am adding calmag and silica at 1/4 strength as a preventative to future problems. I love my little girls! We will be receiving out hygrometer in a few days and be able to monitor the environment! Exciting stuff😃

Everything is GREAT! My two girls are growing healthy and happy! I am trying to regulate the temp in this little closet with a heating mat and the humidity with a tiny humidifier. It’s going ok it’s ranging from 20-24c and 55-85RH. I’m still working on getting the RH to stay below 70. The closet is in my garage and it’s pretty cold out there low 40-50f. I switched to monitoring Celsius instead of Fahrenheit because I mostly find advice in celsius. There is a branch growing out of a cotyledon in the bigger pot. The bigger pot is growing bigger. But this is the only space I have right now. I am looking into ordering a tent. Lots of options! I am a happy grower!!!

I was ahead on the weekly timeline so I waited to post this week. I named the girls, Big Girl and Little Girl. Big girl has shown that she is female and has lots of branches and Little Girl hasn’t shown her female pistols yet nor has she started branching out. Big Girl was started in a 3-gallon pot while Little Girl started in a 1- gallon pot. I transplanted Little Girl to a 3-gallon pot and she grew bigger leaves. This week is the beginning of week five. The plants sprouted on 12/21. They are doing great! I have been continuing the simple method of plain water PH down with citric acid to 6.5 and weekly doses of great white micro stuff and 1/4 dose of calmag. I have also topped their pots with a layer of FFOF/perlite mix weekly since week two. No burning or nutrient deficiency😃 I started LST and that’s going well. The closet is getting cramped so I have plans to build a small grow tent using PVC, panda film and mylar in the next couple days. This will be good because I can raise the lights as they grow and they will have space to grow. Looking forward to great results!!😃

This week went well. Big girl is moving right along in the early flowering stage. She is drinking more and more water and getting taller and bushier. Every time I tie her down she bushes right back out and fills in. Little girl is not branching out or showing gender yet. Her stalk and leaves just keep getting bigger and taller. I think she might be a photoperiod plant instead of an auto. Unless the transplant was too stressful for her last month. I am treating her like a photo for now. I might look into some light deprivation to try to get her to flower but not yet I want to see if I can get her to grow more. I am still doing LST on her and I topped her at the beginning of the week. She hasn’t grown two tops like I thought she would after the topping. But I never give up so we will see. I started a very light mist of Actinovate, Monterey insect and disease control. I am trying to be preventative about bud rot and bugs. This is my first time growing indoor in a little space so I don’t know if it’s necessary to be preventative but It can’t hurt!😉 I am a very happy grower😃

Don't stress over it too much cannabis can take P.H. as low as 4 - 9 as high before damage occurs never had a problem running at 7 myself if your that worried feed in at 6.1 the sort of recommended level see what your run of is then you could fuss and fart about trying to get it right but you will always find a difference with the run off because of the growth mediums

Been going ok. I thought deficiencies were starting to show up, I added Bloom and Microblast because the Epsom salt wasn’t changing anything. Then it occurred to me that the plants were outgrowing their 3-gallon fabric pots and sure enough I saw roots growing out the bottom. I didn’t want to transplant so I placed the fabric pots in 5-gallon plastic bags and things are looking better. The plants are 65 days old today😃 Trichomes are starting to form on Big Girl and she is smelling stronger! Little girl has not grown any branches or shown any signs of being female yet. When the weather warms up I will put her outside and hopefully something will happen.

Big Girl - Discoloring is happening from light burn and a deficiency and flowering. She is happier in the bigger pot. I didn’t transplant I just placed the fabric pot inside a five gallon plastic bag pot and added pots of new soil mix. Trichomes are clear still. Little Girl- Still hasn’t shown branches or signs of sex. I moved her to an outside mini greenhouse. She will get more than 12 hours of darkness and hopefully this will transition her into flowering. I think I topped her at the wrong time. She did not have branches. She was also transplanted from a one gallon fabric pot to a three gallon early on and her roots were disturbed by that. There are several reasons why she may not flower. She did not show signs of being a female when her sister did that is why I transplanted her. Hopefully she is a photo and will progress soon.

This week went well for Little Girl, she’s still outside and seems to have adjusted by not showing any negative signs. She isn’t branching out yet. Will keep on. Big Girl is going great after her deficiencies were balanced out. Unfortunately, some leaf discolorations from deficiencies don’t recover so I trimmed those leaves off. I found a small patch of mold on a flower and trimmed that branch off. The window was left open a couple nights before that mold appeared so I am sure the temperature changes resulted in that mold. I decided to harvest everything above that patch of mold because it was 70%cloudy and 30% Amber. I triple washed those flowers and they are drying. Now the rest of the lower buds can see the light! I like doing staggered harvest I think it allows me to get a larger quantity of better bud. I believe that the calcium and magnesium deficiencies are from not watering frequently enough. I think the water helps move the nutrients through the soil and keeps them from getting locked up in the soil. It’s a fine balance the watering program! Not too much and not too little.... I will try a bottom watering program next time and a slower top watering program. I tend to rush through the watering, maybe if I go slower it will help the water disburse more evenly allowing the plants to take up the nutrients in the soil better. I really tried to do a soil only run by adding/recharging the soil every week. But there were deficiencies so I added some nutrients to the water to try to correct those. I also think that a five gallon pot was better for the Northern Lights. If it were outdoors I would use a 17gallon pot or plant in the ground.

This week went well for Big Girl. Her flowers are developing more and more. I am seeing more changing of the trichomes from clear to cloudy and pistols are darkening as well. I show pictures of the top flowers that I harvested, triple washed and dried. I cured them for about two weeks, probably not long enough. Little Girl is still outside and not transitioning to flower or growing branches but I’m still watering and keeping her in the mini greenhouse. I will keep her as long as she lives even if she never flowers. The dried flower was smooth smoke, talkative and happy. It smelled ok not very pungent. I am getting busier and busier and didn’t record the last several watering a but am continuing to water with 6.5 tap water every few days.

Big Girl-This week went well still growing and flowers are getting denser as the pistols change, still mostly clear trichomes. Little Girl- no progress but still alive! I haven’t been taking as many pictures because the Coronavirus shelter in place order has my indoor garden area occupied most of the time.

Big Girl- Doing great! Flowers are maturing and smelling nice. The leaves are all yellowing and the calcium and magnesium deficiency is showing In the leaves(see pictures). Otherwise she has beautiful colors and is true to her Northern Lights name! Little Girl- I decided to find her a spot in the garden (in the ground). She hasn’t branched out but maybe with the new spring season if she is planted in the ground she might reset and grow to her full potential. I am very happy with how easy things have been for my first indoor closet/tent grow. The biggest problems have been the deficiencies and gnats.

This week went well I am continuing to harvest buds as they become ready. The leaves are yellowing more and more letting me know that she is almost complete. I think the lower bids have about one more week until they are ready and that will complete the harvest for Big Girl. Little girl is now declining, she has not branches out or grown new tops.

Big Girl was so easy! Nothing major just keeping the environment balanced and she was happy! Little Girl never made any more progress. I think I topped her at the wrong time. This was a great experience for my first complete indoor autoflower.
