Both or my unknown strains are loving life, I love the overall growth and structures both are showing. They are happy and healthy with their life and environment. I think due to its stunted growth and the fact I feed all three plants the same dose of nutrients the popsicle cake has slight nutrient burn on some of its leaves, I will keep a close eye on this and adjust feedin schedules if it continues.
Lots of growth this week, switching to 12/12 halfway through the week to start the flower period, I’ve been keeping a close eye on these three, trying to decide sex as early as I can, praying for all females. The left unknown strain definitely has some taller genes it’s taking off a little faster or taller shall I say, more space in between the nodes, both plants up front are looking really good, got their first feeding of flowering nutrients. The popsicle cake I’m still dealing with a slight ph problem, causing stunted growth, I transplanted into a 12” pot and noticed some of the roots were a little slimy so going to try to dry them out and get some oxygen to them. Fingers crossed they are girls and I can pull a decent crop out of all of them.
Solid second week of flowering all 3 plants showed pistols so we have 3 beautiful lady’s in the closet. Growing beautifully. Light defoliation to expose the covered bloom sights. Added a few new lights to the set up as well, utilized an older 180W led, as well as 3 t5 reflectors to hopefully give me them beautiful, tasty, and dense flowers we are all after!
Third week of flowing and the budsites started shooting a bunch of pre flowers, lookin healthy and happy with the extra lighting in the room. Smell is starting to grow more and more, 4” carbon filter scrubs most of it though.
This was a very interesting week to say the least, we had our ups and downs, health wise has been great, plants are loving their extra lights I added, soaking up their nutrients great, hardly any to no nutrient burn either. A few lower fan leaves loosing color and dying, to my knowledge it’s fairly common to loose some at this stage in flowering. Buds are just continuing to develop and grow! Now what may be the problem you may ask? Well unfortunately about halfway through the week I was shocked/surprised/alarmed but also very disappointed to see a male pollen sack on the tallest lady.. continued to inspect all three lady’s and the largest plant had 3-4 sacs and one split open. Sprayed with water, plucked the sacks. And have since been monitoring them closely. Removing any I find. Not sure what happened. I have zero light leaks, temperature has never been over 82 degrees, no major shock or stressing besides topping the two largest plants once and slight defoliation as I go to expose covered bud sites. Just plane bad genetics from being a bag seed and had a hermi? Anyways, since I have found a few more on the tallest and about 4 total on the shortest unknown strain, still to find no pollen sacks on the birthday cake, however I’m sure they are there and just hard to see due to it’s small structure. Anyways this late on in my journey and the last grow I’m doing before I move. (New place means new grow area with no pollen) I’m just going to ride it out and hope for the best turn out.
Week 5 of flowering for the three ladies went well. A couple of the hairs started turning orange and shriveling. Tricomb production is looking grand, smell just continues to grow stronger and stronger. Stinking the whole house up even with a 4” carbon filter and fan constantly scrubbing the closet. Ph fell down to the lower 6.1-6.2, plants started yellowing and loosing older fan leaves, could have something to do with them Inching closer to harvest time, also probably has something to do with the slight ph drop, either way sugar leaves, new growth, and bud is all thriving so as long as the problem doesn’t continue to get server I’m not worried about the plant using up nutrients and offing some at this point in time useless lower fan leaves. Popsicle cake is giving off a straight gas/diesel fuel smell. The tallest unknown plant is solid lemons and Kush, and the middle sized unknown plant has a semi sweet but yet gassy aroma coming off her. Very exciting leading into week 6 of flower!
Another week done, finished up week 6 of flowering, week 10 of the whole grow. The buds are continuing to fatten up, inching closer and closer to harvest. Noticed the first few Amber tricombs on some of the upper buds, going to be leaning off the big bud and switching to overdrive to help aid in ripening and the final bulk. I’d like the run them another 4 weeks giving them a full 9-10 weeks in flower. But will judge harvest on a near 45/55 or 50/50, Cloudy/amber tricomb production.
This week was yet another good week in the closet. Solid bud development and even more delicious scents coming off the three ladies. Growing three different strains has definitely been a learning curve seeing how the largest of the 3 is very hungry, just soaks up really any amount of nutrients I give her. I’ve actually been running about full strength nutrients almost every feed when the other two get about 3/4 feed every second water. Getting excited to start curing. Ideally I’d like to run them another 2 1/2 to 3 weeks to allow them to bring out their full potential.
Great end to week 8, buds are continuing their swell, not slowing down yet. New pistols and growth showing up as the plant pushes to collect more pollen and reproduce right before the end. Still feeding full strength on the largest plant with no signs of burn, lowered to half strength nutrients on the medium sized plant due to noticing some burn on the last feed at 3/4 strength. I would prefer to not have any burn this late into flower but you live and you learn. Strive to always improve and you’ll be rewarded with your results. Tricomb color is about 10-15% amber 75-85% cloudy and about 5-10% amber showing up on the sugar leaves but the none on any calyxes. Coming into week 9 I plant to lean off the nutrients completely towards the end of the week, as long as they continue to ripen on schedule, and introduce Final Phase and a one week flushing finishing out in week 10.
Week #9 of flowering is done, great week this week, still inching closer and closer to harvest day, all of the ladies except for the largest will start their flush today, I’d like to push that out to atleast 10-14 days if possible, this will insure I get a beautiful fade into harvest as well as mouth watering tastes and aromas coming off this flower, however with using final phase I’ve learned I can execute a proper and tasty flush in just 7 days if needed. Everyday I feel the smells are getting more and more intense becoming a hassle for my 4” carbon filter to keep up. Hopefully we continue to finish strong this last week or two! It will be exciting 😍
Another good week, started all the ladies on an ice water diet. Always waiting to water right before lights out so my ice cold water and ice on top of the soil take full effect. The ladies seem to be taking it well, full on fall colors taking place as well as bud maturity means the end is near! I plan to start engaging their 24-48 hours of darkness as well as harvesting this coming week after one more good ice water feed for all the ladies. Stay tuned!
Just finished week 11, and the time has come! Two of the three ladies were harvested on Monday of this week, the last one is still holding on. Posted some pictures of my homemade odor controlled dry box, the thing works great! Hardly any odors escape when the box is closed up, running a humidifier and drying in the basement has given me a solid 55-65% RH and a comfortable 64-70 degrees fahrenheit for a beautiful slow dry. Once the last one is harvested I will Get her hung up and have updated posts And pictures on harvesting/drying and a final end product. Stay tuned!
Growing this popsicle cake definitely had its ups and downs. What started out looking like a dud of a seed turned out to be something pretty spectacular. Stacks the buds nicely to fill up the whole colas, super frosty, with an un godly stench of sweaty dirty socks. Still in the curing process but definitely has a heavy indica punch!
Overall this plant was great to grow, she just grew and was happy doing it the entire time, pretty good yield off a plant that was only about 12inches tall. Seemed to be a lot more resistant to deficiencies then the other two strains this grow. Definitely a great mid-day Smoke!
This plant has a solid stench of pure ripe lemons. So much aroma and color in every bud, purples, to dark green, to lime green, to solid frost. This one definitely a fun strain to watch grow and tend too for the last few months. She’s definitely a hungry girl, seemed to be the only strain out of the three that accepted and thrived with full feed nutrients. Would definitely recommend this Strain to someone For a nice uplifting day smoke, also seems to do me good for some pain and stress relief.
