Obviously starting this journal in the 3rd week. I'll be growing 3 strains in the flower room when it's time. This journal will cover the 2 Green Crack plants I have out of 6 plants total. 3 Crown Royale and a Purple Kush will be roommates as well.
I started with 3 fem seeds from crop king. Only 2 grew tap roots. They were potted into red solo cups when they were a little over an inch long and broke dirt a day later under a fluorescent light for their first week of life. In week 2 I got the veg room up and running and fired up the monster 1000 watt mh light. I know its overkill for the plants at this stage but I cant afford to buy another light yet and the 2 1000 watters are all I have right now.
They were potted up into 4L pots and given a bump in nutes from 1ml/l to 2ml/l. Roots were strong and healthy and ready for their new home.
On week 3 I topped both girls at the 3rd node(or so I thought). More on that later. At this point I had been trying to raise the ph in the pots since I had been testing at just over 5. From what I've read Promix hp has lime mixed in it and should naturally raise the ph on it's own. I pre soaked the promix a couple of days prior to transplanting into the 4l pots to activate the lime but my runnoff was still low. To counter that I have been feeding them at 6.5. There was some discoloration on the bottom fan leaves and I was worrying already about deficiencies. Being my first grow, every discolored leaf is like a dagger in the heart. Lol.
Both girls bounced back well from topping. The 2nd one a little too well. I must have FIM'd her instead, kinda. I couldn't even get that right. I didnt notice right away but on closer inspection there was 3 main stems growing where there should have been only 2. My first reaction was to just re-cut the middle one off. But I decided to leave it and try to get a clone from it. By the end of the week all 3 stems were equal size and I didnt have the heart to chop it off anymore. Besides, who tf am I to say shes wrong for identifying as a tripod? 🤐 lol. Guess we'll see how this turns out.
Edit: I started 3 diaries at the same time a few weeks in. I wont be surprised if I find another omission/mistake. I transplanted both of these girls by the end of week 4. #1 got both of her main stems topped on day 35. I added new pics of them in the 18l pots.
Lots to comment on this week. Both girls took well to their new home. Moved nutes to full strength. Started LST late with them so it was lots of slow stretches throughout the week. For being my first time I managed to get through the week without breaking anly limbs. Very interesting to see them stretch back up to the light after each session. I learned a valuable lesson about where to top as well. Much more of a pain in the ass to train them when you cut them on vertical nodes instead of horizontal ones. The weather took a dive and heating and humidity are now issues. I raised the pots off the floor 2' and added a small heater. It's supposed to get worse so I'll be keeping an eye on them.
Well the battle against the elements was on this week. Thankfully I was home for most of it and able to give these girls the attention they deserve. The temerature dropped to -25 and hing there for most of the week. My room is in an unheated shop so I added a heater for the first couple of nights. The morning of their 38th day I went in and the room was sitting at 8% RH. it was about 25% the night before. I found my propane camp stove and put a huge pot of water on it. That helped with the heat and humidity. Within a few hours it was back up to 50%. Plus the added c02 from the propane cant hurt.
One of her roommates started showing the first signs of nute burn so I decided to knock their intake back down to 3/4 strength JIC. I'm going to be busy AF this week, but it was my plan to turn these girls at day 49. I still have some prep work to do in the flower room. I plan to seal it airtight and make a few other improvements before I put it to use.
Other than that they havent missed a beat. They've been growing horizontal due to constant LST adjustments since a couple weeks ago. I've finally decided to let them start going vertical. Only adjusting branches down that are trying to get ahead of the rest. GC 1 is by far the faster growing of the 2. Possibly the healthiest girl out of the 6 I have right now.
