Here we go again, experienced some lessons learned from my first grow and time to try again. I had a pest infestation so I clean out the tent with bleach from my first grow. I also purchased a sonic plug device to keep away pest, like mice, spiders, mites, bed bugs etc. I am hoping it works for spider mites. My germination took 72hr to get a tap root and I planted it in some ProMix HP with water for the first two days and added some nutrients for the rest of the week. I am going to put nutrients more often this time to see if it will increase my yield. At this time there are no grow techniques as its only an inch but will be moving them next week in a bigger pot.
Progress for week 2, I have move the plant from the small cup to a 3 Gal smart pot. Increasing the nutrient intake and lowered the lights to 24 inches. The plant grew about 2 inches in the last week, my humidity was low at first but at 45% RH it better than last week. I think this is due to the larger pot with more moisture evaporating in the tent. I also turned on the fan inside to start putting stress on the plants to strengthen the stems. Its still too small for LST but hoping to start this next week.
Week 3, plant is growing well, she has double in size since the last week. I now have 6 nodes so I topped the plant after the 6th node. I'll give it a couple days then I will start some LST and will FIM again in a week. I slightly up the nutrients but at this rate I only water every 2 days as the soil takes a long time to dry. The RH is getting low as well this week it was at 35%, I don't want to add a humidifier just yet. It seems to be growing fine but it probably would be better if the humidity was higher.
We are 4 weeks into this grow, so far so good. The lights are running a bit hot but I don't want to increase the ventilation since that will reduce my RH level. Since its winter time the house is dry and keeping a humidifier in the tent would help but it's growing nicely so I will let it be. Last week I topped after the 6th node, this week I FIMed all the new growth to get a bushier plant. From the looks of it the topping produced about 7 - 8 cola sites and I am hoping for a few more.
I tied the plan down in two spots now for some LST. The height is at 9 inches but the main stem is tied down therefore the branches from the tallest nodes are reaching the 9 inch mark. If it doubles in size at the end of week 5 I will flip to flower, if not I will give it another week of vegging.
This week she is growing well, I think its time to switch the lights to flower and start the transition. She is drinking more and one day it was very dry so I will have to keep an eye on them. I FIMed just a bit and then I will leave it alone and wait for the buds to start.
My reply is a bit late this week, I took the picture earlier this week but just haven't had the time to post the update. With the current size I felt it was a good time to flip to flower and I am happy with the number of colas that will be created. It's starting the stretch and progressing well this week. I am adding the screen next week as the plants are going to reach it.
This week the plant is still growing, she got another 7 inches. It pretty close to its max height. I added the trellis for the ScroG. I will see how well it works as it's the first time I used it. We will see how it turns out.
The week we are progressing well, buds are filling up nicely and I am feeding a bit more often as the plan are drinking a bit more. I also have been trimming and cutting lots of dead leaves.
This week the buds are growing well I am doing so light defoliation to get some of the leaves off but not to shock the plant. Overall not issues other then the tips of some leave are going brown so I think it maybe nutrient burn. I'll do more water this week.
Continuing the feeding this week, I adjusted the bloom since we are get close, 3 weeks to go at this point. Trimed a bit of leaves here and there but the buds are looking nice.
I was a bit late posting last week so this is this week's progress. I have a few weeks left until harvest we are almost at the home stretch. Everything is progressing well and am continue to feed and trim.
This week's I am just getting ready for ripening. The buds look nice and I checked the trychomes are starting to go milky but they are still clear. Next week is a flush week, so I am hoping they will be ready to change soon. I will keep an eye on them this week to monitor change.
Week 13 and I'm flushing my plant. I checked my trichomes and they are milky white but no amber ones yet. Will keep a close eye this week. I have lots of yellow leaves in the plant but I would have thought it would be ready by now but the trichomes aren't yet.
This has been my best grow yet. I have used some lessons learned on the training of the plant and end up with some larger buds. I doubled my yeild from the plant in this grow which is great. I'm going to start again with some new seeds and some new ideas but I am happy with what I'm producing now.
