I've never grown a plant without touching it at all (no LST, HST, defoliation, etc), so this is my little experiment for that.
She will go in a small container, 3L, and sit in a corner with non-optimal lighting conditions.
Light schedule will be 12/12 during the first few weeks due to a larger photoperiod plant taking priority on that matter.
Additionally, I'll be taking her to ~50% amber in the end as I enjoy using this strain for bedtime.
Other PP grow is finishing up within Week 3 of this grow, allowing a 20/4 light schedule. Hopefully it'll be enough to get some much needed veg time before flower.
I noticed a bit of miscoloring of the leaves. This happens every time I use this exact soil -- possibly a pH issue, as it is a very sour soil. Luckily, it only affects seedlings.
Finally able to increase the light schedule to 20/4! The plant is super tiny due to 3 weeks of 12/12.
Started feeding 1/2 strength BioBizz recommended schedule.
Tips starting to yellow up despite being fed and soil being somewhat dry. Hmm. Let's see where this goes.
Edit: Turns out it was heat stress in early stages -- I didn't account for the moisture being sucked out of the air by the diatomaceous earth I have strewn out to combat fungus gnats. I saturated the DE with water (It sizzled! Crazy stuff) to raise the RH% to ~70, and fungus gnats still die on the DE. Success!
Started showing sex at around day 21, and by day 25 she already stretched to nearly double the size, still continuing to stretch.
I haven't bent, snapped, cut or tugged anything on her. She really wants to show off her long legs, huh...
Feed consists of BioBizz Grow+Bloom and high CalMag because of the strong LED light, but I may have gotten those ratios wrong seeing as her lower leaves are starting to yellow up -- possibly from N deficiency during the crazy stretches.
She's finally done stretching, but man is she tall is spindly. I guess that's what you get for doing 12/12 in Veg on an autoflower, huh.
Health-wise, she's doing OK. Not the healthiest plant I've ever had, but she trucks right on, and I see progress on her flowers every time I open the tent.
Rust spots on lower leaves have remained unchanged for a while now, giving off the impression of a fixed issue.
Current feeding schedule seems to be pretty good on her -- perhaps a little too strong: leaves are curling and clawing a bit. I feed her on every watering.
This is the first *and last* time I ever grow a cannabis plant without training it.
No more stretch, no more yellowing bottom-up. She seems somewhat happy despite her deformities (3-fingered leaves, disease-prompted variegation, etc).
No changes in environment nor feeding.
Buds have formed and are swelling up nice and slowly. Smell is starting to be a little overwhelming, but that's expected from Cherry Bomb. Very distinct smell.
No changes in environment or growth rate.
She's no longer showing signs of deficiencies and she grows rather well despite no training.
Light schedule has changed due to a photoperiod taking priority (20/4 -> 12/12)
This girl is having a hard time finishing up her flowers -- they're all airy and fluffy. Somewhat sticky, but airy.
It was like this the last time I grew her, too, so it might just be mediocre genetics in my seed pack.
I am never again growing Cherry Bomb autoflowers, despite the smooth cherry taste and wonderful full-body stone, it's simply just a waste of time and resources.
Okay, so I chopped down this girl despite her not being 25% amber.
The genetics were piss poor on all 3 attempts at this strain, going into flowering halfway through second week and only giving airy buds.
No more resources are going into fixing what's FUBAR.
Wet weight: 80.6g (2.84 oz)
Very easy to grow.
- I grew it untrained as an experiment, just to get this last seed of the packet out of the way. It took well to recommended BioBizz feeding schedule.
- It did stretch a lot more than the previous plants of the same strain, and the leaves were quite Sativa-like.
- The plant went into flower extremely fast, severely lowering the yield.
Outcome was so-so.
- Buds are somewhat airy. They have decent frost, but are too loose for my liking.
- 15.1g (dry) in a 3L soil pot without training speaks of a mediocre genetic.
Smell/flavour is quite nice!
- Very strong cherry smell and flavour with earthy, caramel undertones.
Overall impression (of 3rd grow) is still "meh".
- Flowered too soon.
- Buds too airy.
- Waste of resources to grew certain phenotypes of this strain.
Vape:
Flavours of berries, cherry, mint and nuts
- Uplifted mood
- Relaxes muscles (upper body)
- Mind wanders
- Dry eyes
Plant grew just as bad as I expected, considering the poor genetics of the seed packet I had.
It really was a waste of resources to grow. I am never gonna try my hands on another strain from Bomb Seeds.
@raptor65, Thanks man! Not my first time growing Cherry Bomb. First time around it came out great and I loved the sedative smoke, but this time.... yeeaah... I'm fairly certain there's a virus or pest involved. Growth is stunted, leaves are curled and mottled. It looks a bit like TMV to be honest :/ I'm thinking about throwing it out to sanitize grow tent and start anew.
